۱ 1 اما در سال سی و ششم سلطنت آسا، بعشا پادشاه اسرائیل بر یهودا برآمد، ورامه را بنا کرد تا نگذارد که کسی نزد آساپادشاه یهودا رفت و آمد نماید.

In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign, Baasha, king of Israel, acted aggressively against Judah and built up Ramah, so that he might not allow anyone to leave or enter into the land of Asa, king of Judah.

۲ 2 آنگاه آسا نقره وطلا را از خزانه های خداوند و خانه پادشاه گرفته، آن را نزد بنهدد پادشاه ارام که دردمشق ساکن بود فرستاده، گفت:

Then Asa brought the silver and gold out of the storerooms in the house of Yahweh and of the king's house, and sent it to Ben Hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus. He said,

۳ 3 «در میان من وتو و در میان پدر من و پدر تو عهد بوده است. اینک نقره و طلا نزد تو فرستادم پس عهدی را که با بعشا پادشاه اسرائیل داری بشکن تا او از نزد من برود.»

“Let there be a covenant between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Look, I have sent to you silver and gold. Break your covenant with Baasha, king of Israel, so that he may leave me alone.”

۴ 4 و بنهدد آسا پادشاه را اجابت نموده، سرداران افواج خود را بر شهرهای اسرائیل فرستاد و ایشان عیون و دان و آبل مایم و جمیع شهرهای خزانه نفتالی را تسخیر نمودند.

Ben Hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.

۵ 5 وچون بعشا این را شنید بنا نمودن رامه را ترک کرده، از کاری که می‌کرد باز ایستاد.

It came about that when Baasha heard this, he stopped building up Ramah, and let his work cease.

۶ 6 و آساپادشاه، تمامی یهودا را جمع نموده، ایشان سنگهای رامه و چوبهای آن را که بعشا بنا می کرد برداشتند و او جبع و مصفه را با آنها بنانمود.

Then Asa the king took all Judah with him. They carried away the stones and timbers of Ramah with which Baasha had been building up the city. Then King Asa used that building material to build up Geba and Mizpah.

۷ 7 و در آن زمان حنانی رایی نزد آساپادشاه یهودا آمده، وی را گفت: «چونکه تو برپادشاه ارام توکل نمودی و بر یهوه خدای خود توکل ننمودی، از این جهت لشکر پادشاه ارام از دست تو رهایی یافت.

At that time Hanani the seer went to Asa, king of Judah, and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram, and have not relied on Yahweh your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.

۸ 8 آیا حبشیان ولوبیان لشکر بسیار بزرگ نبودند؟ و ارابه‌ها وسواران از حد زیاده نداشتند؟ اما چونکه برخداوند توکل نمودی آنها را به‌دست توتسلیم نمود.

Were not the Cushites and the Libyans a huge army, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you relied on Yahweh, he gave you victory over them.

۹ 9 زیرا که چشمان خداوند درتمام جهان تردد می‌کند تا قوت خویش را برآنانی که دل ایشان با او کامل است نمایان سازد. تو در اینکار احمقانه رفتار نمودی، لهذا ازاین ببعد در جنگها گرفتار خواهی شد.»

For the eyes of Yahweh run everywhere throughout the whole earth, so that he might show himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward him. But you have acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, you will have war.”

۱۰ 10 اماآسا بر آن رایی غضب نموده، او را در زندان انداخت زیرا که از این امر خشم او بر وی افروخته شد و در همان وقت آسا بر بعضی از قوم ظلم نمود.

Then Asa was angry with the seer; he put him into prison, for he was angry with him over this matter. At the same time, Asa oppressed some of the people.

۱۱ 11 و اینک وقایع اول و آخر آسا در تورایخ پادشاهان یهودا و اسرائیل مکتوب است.

Behold, the deeds of Asa, from first to last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

۱۲ 12 ودر سال سی و نهم سلطنت آسا مرضی درپایهای او عارض شد و مرض او بسیار سخت گردید و نیز در بیماری خود از خداوند مددنخواست بلکه از طبیبان.

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was very severe, he did not seek help from Yahweh, but only from the physicians.

۱۳ 13 پس آسا با پدران خود خوابید و در سال چهل و یکم از سلطنت خود وفات یافت.

So Asa slept with his ancestors, dying in the forty-first year of his reign.

۱۴ 14 و او را در مقبره‌ای که برای خود در شهر داود کنده بود دفن کردندو او را در دخمه‌ای که از عطریات و انواع حنوطکه به صنعت عطاران ساخته شده بودگذاشتند و برای وی آتشی بی‌نهایت عظیم برافروختند.

They buried him in his own tomb, which he had dug out for himself in the city of David. They laid him on a bier that was filled with sweet odors and various kinds of spices prepared by skilled perfumers. Then they made a very great fire in his honor.
