1 تیموتاوس 3

۱ 1 این سخن امین است که اگر کسی منصب اسقفی را بخواهد، کار نیکو می‌طلبد.

A feithful word. If ony man desirith a bishopriche, he desirith a good werk.

۲ 2 پس اسقف باید بی‌ملامت و صاحب یک زن و هشیارو خردمند و صاحب نظام و مهمان‌نواز و راغب به تعلیم باشد؛

Therfor it bihoueth a byschop to be with out repreef, the hosebonde of o wijf, sobre, prudent, chast, vertewous, holdinge hospitalite, a techere;

۳ 3 نه میگسار یا زننده یا طماع سودقبیح بلکه حلیم و نه جنگجو و نه زرپرست.

not youun myche to wyn, not a smytere, but temperat, not ful of chiding, not coueitouse, wel reulinge his hous,

۴ 4 مدبر اهل خانه خود، به نیکویی و فرزندان خویش را در کمال وقار مطیع گرداند،

and haue sones suget with al chastite;

۵ 5 زیراهرگاه کسی نداند که اهل خانه خود را تدبیر کند، چگونه کلیسای خدا را نگاهبانی می‌نماید؟

for if ony man kan not gouerne his house, hou schal he haue diligence of the chirche of God? not new conuertid to the feith,

۶ 6 و نه جدیدالایمان که مبادا غرور کرده، به حکم ابلیس بیفتد.

lest he be borun vp in to pride, and falle in to doom of the deuel.

۷ 7 اما لازم است که نزد آنانی که خارجند هم نیک نام باشد که مبادا در رسوایی و دام ابلیس گرفتار شود.

For it bihoueth hym to haue also good witnessing of hem that ben with outforth, that he falle not in to repreef, and in to the snare of the deuel.

۸ 8 همچنین شماسان باوقار باشند، نه دو زبان ونه راغب به شراب زیاده و نه طماع سود قبیح؛

Also it bihoueth dekenes to be chast, not double tungid, not youun myche to wyn, not suynge foul wynnyng;

۹ 9 دارندگان سر ایمان در ضمیر پاک.

that han the mysterie of feith in clene conscience.

۱۰ 10 اما بایداول ایشان آزموده شوند و چون بی‌عیب یافت شدند، کار شماسی را بکنند.

But be thei preued first, and mynystre so, hauynge no cryme.

۱۱ 11 و به همینطورزنان نیز باید باوقار باشند و نه غیبت‌گو بلکه هشیارو در هر امری امین.

Also it bihoueth wymmen to be chast, not bacbitinge, sobre, feithful in alle thingis.

۱۲ 12 و شماسان صاحب یک زن باشند و فرزندان و اهل خانه خویش را نیکو تدبیرنمایند،

Dekenes be hosebondis of o wijf; whiche gouerne wel her sones and her housis.

۱۳ 13 زیرا آنانی که کار شماسی را نیکو کرده باشند، درجه خوب برای خویشتن تحصیل می‌کنند و جلادت کامل در ایمانی که به مسیح عیسی است.

For thei that mynystren wel, schulen gete a good degre to hem silf, and myche triste in the feith, that is in Crist Jhesu.

۱۴ 14 این به تو می‌نویسم به امید آنکه به زودی نزد تو آیم.

Sone Timothe, Y write to thee these thingis, hopinge that Y schal come soon to thee;

۱۵ 15 لیکن اگر تاخیر اندازم، تا بدانی که چگونه باید در خانه خدا رفتار کنی که کلیسای خدای حی و ستون و بنیاد راستی است.

but if Y tarie, that thou wite, hou it bihoueth thee to lyue in the hous of God, that is the chirche of lyuynge God, a pilere and sadnesse of treuthe.

۱۶ 16 وبالاجماع سر دینداری عظیم است که خدا درجسم ظاهر شد و در روح، تصدیق کرده شد و به فرشتگان، مشهود گردید و به امتها موعظه کرده ودر دنیا ایمان آورده و به جلال بالا برده شد.

And opynli it is a greet sacrament of pitee, that thing that was schewid in fleisch, it is iustified in spirit, it apperid to aungels, it is prechid to hethene men, it is bileuyd in the world, it is takun vp in glorie.
