| و سلیمان با فرعون، پادشاه مصر، مصاهرت نموده، دختر فرعون را گرفت، واو را به شهر داود آورد تا بنای خانه خود و خانه خداوند و حصار اورشلیم را به هر طرفش تمام کند. | ۱ 1 |
And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon, and he made affinity with Pharao the king of Egypt: for he took his daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
| لیکن قوم در مکانهای بلند قربانی می‌گذرانیدند زیرا خانه‌ای برای اسم خداوند تاآن زمان بنا نشده بود. | ۲ 2 |
But yet the people sacrificed in the high places: far there was no temple built to the name of the Lord until that day.
| و سلیمان خداوند را دوست داشته، به فرایض پدر خود، داود رفتار می‌نمود، جز اینکه در مکانهای بلند قربانی می‌گذرانید و بخورمی سوزانید. | ۳ 3 |
And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the precepts of David his father, only he sacrificed in the high places: and burnt incense.
| و پادشاه به جبعون رفت تا در آنجاقربانی بگذراند زیرا که مکان بلند عظیم، آن بود وسلیمان بر آن مذبح هزار قربانی سوختنی گذرانید. | ۴ 4 |
He went therefore to Gabaon, to sacrifice there: for that was the great high place: a thousand victims for holocausts did Solomon offer upon that altar in Gabaon.
| و خداوند به سلیمان در جبعون درخواب شب ظاهر شد. و خدا گفت: «آنچه را که به تو بدهم، طلب نما.» | ۵ 5 |
And the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, saying: Ask what thou wilt that I should give thee.
| سلیمان گفت: «تو با بنده ات، پدرم داود، هرگاه در حضور تو با راستی و عدالت و قلب سلیم با تو رفتار می‌نمود، احسان عظیم می‌نمودی، و این احسان عظیم را برای اونگاه داشتی که پسری به او دادی تا بر کرسی وی بنشیند، چنانکه امروز واقع شده است. | ۶ 6 |
And Solomon said: Thou hast shewn great mercy to thy servant David my father, even at, he walked before thee in truth, and justice, and an upright heart with thee: and thou hast kept thy great mercy for him, and hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
| و الان‌ای یهوه، خدای من، تو بنده خود را به‌جای پدرم داود، پادشاه ساختی و من طفل صغیر هستم که خروج و دخول را نمی دانم. | ۷ 7 |
And now, O Lord God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a child, and know not how to go out and come in.
| و بنده ات در میان قوم تو که برگزیده‌ای هستم، قوم عظیمی که کثیرند به حدی که ایشان را نتوان شمرد و حساب کرد. | ۸ 8 |
And thy servant is in the midst of the people which thou hast chosen, an immense people, which cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
| پس به بنده خود دل فهیم عطا فرما تا قوم تو را داوری نمایم و در میان نیک و بد تمیز کنم، زیرا کیست که این قوم عظیم تو را داوری تواندنمود؟» | ۹ 9 |
Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart, to judge thy people, and discern between good and evil. For who shall be able to judge this people, thy people which is so numerous?
| و این امر به نظر خداوند پسند آمد که سلیمان این چیز را خواسته بود. | ۱۰ 10 |
And the word was pleasing to the Lord that Solomon had asked such a thing.
| پس خدا وی را گفت: «چونکه این چیز را خواستی و طول ایام برای خویشتن نطلبیدی، و دولت برای خودسوال ننمودی، و جان دشمنانت را نطلبیدی، بلکه به جهت خود حکمت خواستی تا انصاف رابفهمی، | ۱۱ 11 |
And the Lord said to Solomon: Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life or riches, nor the lives of thy enemies, but hast asked for thyself wisdom to discern judgment,
| اینک بر‌حسب کلام تو کردم و اینک دل حکیم و فهیم به تو دادم به طوری که پیش از تومثل تویی نبوده است و بعد از تو کسی مثل تونخواهد برخاست. | ۱۲ 12 |
Behold I have done for thee according to thy words, and have given thee a wise and understanding heart, insomuch that there hath been no one like thee before thee, nor shall arise after thee.
| و نیز آنچه را نطلبیدی، یعنی هم دولت و هم جلال را به تو عطا فرمودم به حدی که در تمامی روزهایت کسی مثل تو درمیان پادشاهان نخواهد بود. | ۱۳ 13 |
Yea and the things also which thou didst not ask, I have given thee: to wit riches and glory, as that no one hath been like thee among the kings in all days heretofore.
| و اگر در راههای من سلوک نموده، فرایض و اوامر مرا نگاه داری به طوری که پدر تو داود سلوک نمود، آنگاه روزهایت را طویل خواهم گردانید.» | ۱۴ 14 |
And if thou wilt walk in my ways, and Beep my precepts, and my commandments, as thy father walked, I will lengthen thy days.
| پس سلیمان بیدار شد و اینک خواب بود وبه اورشلیم آمده، پیش تابوت عهد خداوند ایستاد، و قربانی های سوختنی گذرانید و ذبایح سلامتی ذبح کرده، برای تمامی بندگانش ضیافت نمود. | ۱۵ 15 |
And Solomon awaked, and perceived that it was a dream: and when he was come to Jerusalem, he stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered holocausts, and sacrificed victims of peace offerings, and made a great feast for all his servants.
| آنگاه دو زن زانیه نزد پادشاه آمده، درحضورش ایستادند. | ۱۶ 16 |
Then there came two women that were harlots, to the king, and stood before him:
| و یکی از آن زنان گفت: «ای آقایم، من و این زن در یک خانه ساکنیم و درآن خانه با او زاییدم. | ۱۷ 17 |
And one of them said: I beseech thee, my lord, I and this woman dwelt in one house, and I was delivered of a child with her in the chamber.
| و روز سوم بعد از زاییدنم واقع شد که این زن نیز زایید و ما با یکدیگر بودیم و کسی دیگر با ما در خانه نبود و ما هر دو در خانه‌تنها بودیم. | ۱۸ 18 |
And the third day, after that I was delivered, she also was delivered, and we were together, and no other person with us in the house, only we two.
| و در شب، پسر این زن مرد زیرا که بر او خوابیده بود. | ۱۹ 19 |
And this woman’s child died in the night: for in her sleep she overlaid him.
| و او در نصف شب برخاسته، پسر مرا وقتی که کنیزت در خواب بود از پهلوی من گرفت و در بغل خود گذاشت و پسر مرده خودرا در بغل من نهاد. | ۲۰ 20 |
And rising in the dead time of the night, she took my child from my side, while I thy handmaid was asleep, and laid it in her bosom: and laid her dead child in my bosom.
| و بامدادان چون برخاستم تاپسر خود را شیر دهم‌اینک مرده بود اما چون دروقت صبح بر او نگاه کردم، دیدم که پسری که من زاییده بودم، نیست.» | ۲۱ 21 |
And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold it was dead: but considering him more diligently when it was clear day, I found that it was not mine which I bore.
| زن دیگر گفت: «نی، بلکه پسر زنده از آن من است و پسر مرده از آن توست.» و آن دیگر گفت: «نی، بلکه پسر مرده ازآن توست و پسر زنده از آن من است.» و به حضورپادشاه مکالمه می‌کردند. | ۲۲ 22 |
And the other woman answered: It is not so as thou sayest, but thy child is dead, and mine is alive. On the contrary she said: Thou liest: for my child liveth, and thy child is dead. And in this manner they strove before the king.
| پس پادشاه گفت: «این می‌گوید که این پسرزنده از آن من است و پسر مرده از آن توست و آن می‌گوید نی، بلکه پسر مرده از آن توست و پسرزنده از آن من است.» | ۲۳ 23 |
Then said the king: The one saith, My child is alive, and thy child is dead. And the other answereth: Nay, but thy child is dead, and mine liveth.
| و پادشاه گفت: «شمشیری نزد من بیاورید.» پس شمشیری به حضور پادشاه آوردند. | ۲۴ 24 |
The king therefore said: Bring me a sword. And when they had brought a sword before the king,
| و پادشاه گفت: «پسرزنده را به دو حصه تقسیم نمایید و نصفش را به این و نصفش را به آن بدهید.» | ۲۵ 25 |
Divide, said he, the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
| و زنی که پسرزنده از آن او بود چونکه دلش بر پسرش می سوخت به پادشاه عرض کرده، گفت: «ای آقایم! پسر زنده را به او بدهید و او را هرگزمکشید.» اما آن دیگری گفت: «نه از آن من و نه ازآن تو باشد؛ او را تقسیم نمایید.» | ۲۶ 26 |
But the woman whose child was alive, said to the king, (for her bowels were moved upon her child, ) I beseech thee, my lord, give her the child alive, and do not kill it. But the other said: Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
| آنگاه پادشاه امر فرموده، گفت: «پسر زنده را به او بدهید و او راالبته مکشید زیرا که مادرش این است.» | ۲۷ 27 |
The king answered, and said: Give the living child to this woman, and let it not be killed, for she is the mother thereof.
| و چون تمامی اسرائیل حکمی را که پادشاه کرده بود، شنیدند از پادشاه بترسیدند زیرا دیدند که حکمت خدایی به جهت داوری کردن در دل اوست. | ۲۸ 28 |
And all Israel heard the judgment which the king had judged, and they feared the king, seeing that the wisdom of God was in him to do judgment.
