اول تواریخ 20

۱ 1 و واقع شد در وقت تحويل سال، هنگام بيرون رفتن پادشاهان، که يوآب قوت لشکر را بيرون آورد، و زمين بني عَمُّون را ويران ساخت و آمده، رَبَّه را محاصره نمود. اما داود در اورشليم ماند و يوآب رَبَّه را تسخير نموده، آن را منهدم ساخت.

And it came to pass, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out [to battle], that Joab led forth the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and overthrew it.

۲ 2 و داود تاج پادشاه ايشان را از سرش گرفت که وزنش يک وزنه طلا بود و سنگهاي گرانبها داشت و آن را بر سر داود گذاشتند و غنيمت از حد زياده از شهر بردند.

And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head: and he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.

۳ 3 و خلق آنجا را بيرون آورده، ايشان را به ارّه ها و چومهاي آهنين و تيشه ها پاره پاره کرد؛ و داود به همين طور با جميع شهرهاي بني عَمُّون رفتار نمود. پس داود و تمامي قوم به اورشليم برگشتند.

And he brought forth the people that were therein, and cut [them] with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. And thus did David unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

۴ 4 و بعد از آن جنگي با فلسطينيان در جازَر، واقع شد که در آن سِبکاي حُوشاتي سِفّاي را که از اولاد رافا بود کشت و ايشان مغلوب شدند.

And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines: then Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.

۵ 5 و باز جنگ با فلسطينيان واقع شد و اَلحانان بن ياعير لحميرا که برادر جُليات جَتِّي بود کُشت که چوب نيزه اش مثل نورد جولاهکان بود.

And there was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

۶ 6 و باز جنگ در جَتّ واقع شد که در آنجا مردي بلند قد بود که بيست وچهار انگشت، شش بر هر دست و شش بر هر پا داشت و او نيز براي رافا زاييده شده بود.

And there was again war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six [on each hand], and six [on each foot]; and he also was born unto the giant.

۷ 7 و چون او اسرائيل را به تنگ آورد، يهُوناتان بن شِمعا برادر داود او را کُشت.

And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother slew him.

۸ 8 اينان براي رافا در جَتّ زاييده شدند و به دست داود و به دست بندگانش افتادند.

These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
