اول تواریخ 14

۱ 1 و حيرام پادشاه صور، قاصدان با چوب سرو آزاد و بنايان و نجاران نزد داود فرستاده تا خانه اي براي او بسازند.

One day Hiram, the king of Tyre [city], sent some messengers to David [to talk about making an agreement between their countries]. Then Hiram sent cedar logs, bricklayers, and carpenters to build a palace for David.

۲ 2 و داود دانست که خداوند او را به پادشاهي اسرائيل استوار داشته است، زيرا که سلطنتش به خاطر قوم او اسرائيل به درجه بلند برافراشته شده بود.

[When that happened, ] David knew that Yahweh had truly caused him to be the king of Israel, and that he had caused his kingdom to be greatly respected. Yahweh did this because [he loved] his Israeli people.

۳ 3 و داود در اورشليم با زنان گرفت، و داود پسران و دختران ديگر توليد نمود.

David married more women in Jerusalem, and [those women] gave birth to more sons and daughters for him.

۴ 4 و اين است نامهاي فرزنداني که در اورشليم براي وي به هم رسيدند: شَمُّوع و شُوباب و ناتان و سُليمان،

The names of the children that were born to him there in Jerusalem are Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

۵ 5 و یبحار و اَلِيشُوع و اَلِيفالَط،

Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,

۶ 6 و نُوجَه و نافَج و يافِيع،

Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

۷ 7 و اَلِيشامَع و بَعلياداع و اَلِيفَلَط. پيروزي داود بر فلسطينيان

Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

۸ 8 و چون فلسطينيان شنيدند که داود به پادشاهي تمام اسرائيل مسح شده است، پس فلسطينيان برآمدند تا داود را (براي جنگ) بطلبند؛ و چون داود شنيد، به مقابله ايشان برآمد.

When the army of Philistia heard that David has been appointed to be king of all of Israel, they came to capture him. But David heard that they were coming, so he [and his soldiers] marched out to fight against them.

۹ 9 و فلسطينيان آمده، در وادي رفائيم منتشر شدند.

The army of Philistia had attacked the people in the Rephaim Valley [southwest of Jerusalem] and had robbed them.

۱۰ 10 و داود از خدا مسألت نموده، گفت: « آيا به مقابله فلسطينيان برآيم و آيا ايشان را به دست من تسليم خواهي نمود؟» خداوند او را گفت: « برآي وايشان را به دست تو تسليم خواهم کرد.»

David asked God, “Should [my men and] I go and attack the army of Philistia? [If we go, ] will you enable us to defeat [IDM] them?” Yahweh replied, “Yes, go, and I will enable you to defeat [IDM] them.”

۱۱ 11 پس به بَعل فَراصِيم برآمدند و داود ايشان را در آنجا شکست داد و داود گفت: « خدا بر دشمنان من به دست من مثل رخنه آب رخنه کرده است.» بنابراين آن مکان را بَعل فَراصِيم نام نهادند.

So David and his men went up to a town where the soldiers of Philistia were staying and defeated them. Then David said, “God has enabled me [and my soldiers] to overwhelm my enemies like [MET] a flood.” So they named that place {That place is called} ‘Baal-Perazim’ [which means ‘Yahweh breaks through’].

۱۲ 12 و خدايان خود را در آنجا ترک کردند و داود امر فرمود که آنها را به آتش بسوزانند.

[As the soldiers of Philistia fled], they left their idols there. So David commanded his soldiers to burn those idols.

۱۳ 13 و فلسطينيان بار ديگر در آن وادي منتشر شدند.

But soon the army of Philistia attacked the people in that valley again.

۱۴ 14 و داود باز از خدا سؤال نمود و خدا او را گفت: « از عقب ايشان مرو بلکه از ايشان رو گردانيده، در مقابل درختان توت به ايشان نزديک شو.

So again David prayed to God [to ask him what he should do], and God replied, saying “Do not attack the army of Philistia from the front. Instead, go around them, and attack them [from the rear] in front of the balsam trees.

۱۵ 15 و چون در سر درختان توت آواز قدمها بشنوي، آنگاه براي جنگ بيرون شو، زيرا خدا پيش روي تو بيرون رفته است تا لشکر فلسطينيان را مغلوب سازد.»

When you hear something in the tops of the balsam trees that sounds like [soldiers] marching, attack them. I, God, will have gone ahead of you to enable you to defeat the army of Philistia.”

۱۶ 16 پس داود بر وفق آنچه خدا اورا امر فرموده بود، عمل نمود و لشکر فلسطينيان را از جِبعُون تا جارز شکست دادند.

So David did what God commanded him to do, and he and his army defeated the army of Philistia, all the way from Gibeon [city in the east] to Gezer [city in the west].

۱۷ 17 و اسم داود در جميع اراضي شيوع يافت و خداوند ترس او را بر تمامي امّت ها مستولي ساخت.

So David became famous in all the nearby countries, and Yahweh caused [the leaders of] all the [nearby] nations to be afraid of him.
