1 ੧ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਜਨ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਓਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਵੱਸੋਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
A Prayer by Moses, the Man of God. Lord! a dwelling-place, hast, thou, become to us, From generation to generation:
2 ੨ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਬਤ ਉਤਪਤ ਹੋਏ, ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਰਚਿਆ, ਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਤ ਤੱਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈਂ।
Before, the mountains, were born, Or thou hadst brought forth the earth and the world, Even, from age to age, thou, [wast] GOD.
3 ੩ ਤੂੰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਕ ਵੱਲ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਫਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਆਦਮ ਵੰਸ਼ੀਓ, ਮੁੜੋ!
Thou causest man to return unto dust, And hast said—Return, ye sons of Adam!
4 ੪ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਕੱਲ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਰਾਤ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ।
For, a thousand years, in thine eyes, [are], As yesterday, in that it passed away, Or [as] a watch in the night.
5 ੫ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੂੰਝ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਓਹ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਓਹ ਉਸ ਘਾਹ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪੁੰਗਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Thou hast snatched them away, A sleep, do they become, In the morning, [they are] like grass that shooteth up,
6 ੬ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਲਹਿ ਲਹਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਧਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਝ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the morning, it sprouteth and shooteth up, By the evening, it is cut down and withered.
7 ੭ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਨਾਲ ਘਬਰਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
For we are consumed in thine anger, And, in thy wrath, are we dismayed;
8 ੮ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
Thou hast set, Our iniquities before thee, Our secret near the luminary of thy face.
9 ੯ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਤਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਮੁਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
For, all our days, decline in thy wrath, —We end our years like a sigh.
10 ੧੦ ਸਾਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਸੱਤਰ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਸਾਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਸੀ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਗ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਛੇਤੀ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਡਾਰੀ ਮਾਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
The days of our years, have, in them, three score years and ten, And, if, by reason of strength, they have fourscore years, Yet, their boast, is labour and sorrow, For it hath passed quickly, and we have flown away.
11 ੧੧ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੈਅ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ?
Who knoweth the strength of thine anger? Even, according to the fear of thee, is thy wrath!
12 ੧੨ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਨ ਗਿਣਨਾ ਐਉਂ ਸਿਖਲਾ, ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀਏ।
How to number our days, so grant us to know, That we may win us a heart that hath wisdom.
13 ੧੩ ਮੁੜ ਆ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਤੱਕ? ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਖਾਹ!
Return, Yahweh, oh how long? And have compassion upon thy servants;
14 ੧੪ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਯਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾ ਕਰ, ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਜੈਕਾਰੇ ਗਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰੀਏ।
Satisfy us, in the morning, with thy lovingkindness, That we may shout aloud and be glad, Throughout all our days.
15 ੧੫ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਓਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਵਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ।
Make us glad, according to, The days thou hast humbled us, The years we have seen misfortune:
16 ੧੬ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੇਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਵੇ।
Let thy work, appear unto thy servants, And, thy majesty, upon their children;
17 ੧੭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸਾਡੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰ, ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਡੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰ।
And let the delightfulness of Adonay our God be upon us, —And, the work of our hands, establish thou upon us, Yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
