< ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ 29 >

1 ੧ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਹਠ ਕਰੇ, ਉਹ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਭੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਾਓ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
Sodeyn perischyng schal come on that man, that with hard nol dispisith a blamere; and helth schal not sue hym.
2 ੨ ਜਦ ਧਰਮੀ ਉੱਚੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਜਾ ਧਾਹਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The comynalte schal be glad in the multipliyng of iust men; whanne wickid men han take prinshod, the puple schal weyle.
3 ੩ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਲ ਉਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
A man that loueth wisdom, makith glad his fadir; but he that nurschith `an hoore, schal leese catel.
4 ੪ ਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਲਟਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A iust king reisith the lond; an auerouse man schal distrie it.
5 ੫ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਪਲੂਸੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਾਲ਼ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
A man that spekith bi flaterynge and feyned wordis to his frend; spredith abrood a net to hise steppis.
6 ੬ ਬੁਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਫਾਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੈਕਾਰੇ ਗਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
A snare schal wlappe a wickid man doynge synne; and a iust man schal preise, and schal make ioye.
7 ੭ ਧਰਮੀ ਤਾਂ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਮੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ।
A iust man knowith the cause of pore men; an vnpitouse man knowith not kunnyng.
8 ੮ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਂਬੂ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਡਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Men ful of pestilence distryen a citee; but wise men turnen awei woodnesse.
9 ੯ ਜਦ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਕਰੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ।
If a wijs man stryueth with a fool; whether he be wrooth, `ether he leiyith, he schal not fynde reste.
10 ੧੦ ਖੂਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖ਼ਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Menquelleris haten a simple man; but iust men seken his soule.
11 ੧੧ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A fool bringith forth al his spirit; a wise man dilaieth, and reserueth in to tyme comynge afterward.
12 ੧੨ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਾਕਮ ਝੂਠ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੰਨ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੱਭੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
A prince that herith wilfuli the wordis of a leesyng; schal haue alle mynystris vnfeithful.
13 ੧੩ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A pore man and a leenere metten hem silf; the Lord is liytnere of euer ethir.
14 ੧੪ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
If a kyng demeth pore men in treuthe; his trone schal be maad stidfast with outen ende.
15 ੧੫ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਟੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਾਲਕ ਬੇਮੁਹਾਰਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
A yerde and chastisyng schal yyue wisdom; but a child, which is left to his wille, schendith his modir.
16 ੧੬ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਪਰਬਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਿੱਗਣਾ ਵੇਖਣਗੇ।
Grete trespassis schulen be multiplied in the multipliyng of wickid men; and iust men schulen se the fallyngis of hem.
17 ੧੭ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਦੇਹ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਖ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
Teche thi sone, and he schal coumforte thee; and he schal yyue delicis to thi soule.
18 ੧੮ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਬੇਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ।
Whanne prophesie faylith, the puple schal be distried; but he that kepith the lawe, is blessid.
19 ੧੯ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇਵਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
A seruaunt mai not be tauyt bi wordis; for he vndirstondith that that thou seist, and dispisith for to answere.
20 ੨੦ ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਹਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਲੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ।
Thou hast seyn a man swift to speke; foli schal be hopid more than his amendyng.
21 ੨੧ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਡਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਬਣ ਬੈਠੇਗਾ।
He that nurschith his seruaunt delicatli fro childhod; schal fynde hym rebel aftirward.
22 ੨੨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੜਾਈ ਛੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
A wrathful man territh chidingis; and he that is liyt to haue indignacioun, schal be more enclynaunt to synnes.
23 ੨੩ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
Lownesse sueth a proude man; and glorie schal vp take a meke man of spirit.
24 ੨੪ ਚੋਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਹੁੰ ਤਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ।
He that takith part with a theef, hatith his soule; he herith a man chargynge greetli, and schewith not.
25 ੨੫ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਫਾਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਨਾਲ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
He that dredith a man, schal falle soon; he that hopith in the Lord, shal be reisid.
26 ੨੬ ਹਾਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Many men seken the face of the prince; and the doom of alle men schal go forth of the Lord.
27 ੨੭ ਧਰਮੀ ਕੁਨਿਆਈਂ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਚਾਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Iust men han abhomynacioun of a wickid man; and wickid men han abhomynacioun of hem, that ben in a riytful weye. A sone kepynge a word, schal be out of perdicioun.
