ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ 28
The wicked have fled and there is no pursuer, And the righteous is confident as a young lion.
2 ੨ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਦਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
By the transgression of a land its heads are many, And by an understanding man, Who knows right—it is prolonged.
A man—poor and oppressing the weak, [Is] a sweeping rain, and there is no bread.
4 ੪ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those forsaking the Law praise the wicked, Those keeping the Law plead against them.
Evil men do not understand judgment, And those seeking YHWH understand all.
Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse of ways who is rich.
Whoever is keeping the Law is an intelligent son, And a friend of gluttons Causes his father to blush.
8 ੮ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਿਆਜ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਧਨ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whoever is multiplying his wealth by biting and usury, Gathers it for one favoring the poor.
Whoever is turning his ear from hearing the Law, Even his prayer [is] an abomination.
10 ੧੦ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਖਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਮਿਰਾਸ ਪਾਉਣਗੇ।
Whoever is causing the upright to err in an evil way, He falls into his own pit, And the perfect inherits good.
A rich man is wise in his own eyes, And the intelligent poor searches him.
12 ੧੨ ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਮੀ ਜਿੱਤਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਬੜੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਉੱਠਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the exulting of the righteous the glory [is] abundant, And in the rising of the wicked man is apprehensive.
13 ੧੩ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕੋ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
Whoever is covering his transgressions does not prosper, And he who is confessing and forsaking has mercy.
14 ੧੪ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ
O the blessedness of a man fearing continually, And whoever is hardening his heart falls into evil.
A growling lion, and a ranging bear, [Is] the wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 ੧੬ ਸਮਝਹੀਣ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਨ ਲੰਮੇ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
A leader lacking understanding multiplies oppressions, Whoever is hating dishonest gain prolongs days.
A man oppressed with the blood of a soul, Flees to the pit, [and] none takes hold on him [to help].
Whoever is walking uprightly is saved, And the perverted of ways falls at once.
19 ੧੯ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜੇਗਾ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਕੰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜੇਗਾ,
Whoever is tilling his ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoever is pursuing vanity, Is filled [with] poverty.
20 ੨੦ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਧੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਨਾ ਠਹਿਰੇਗਾ।
A steadfast man has multiplied blessings, And whoever is hastening to be rich is not acquitted.
[It] is not good to discern faces, And a man transgresses for a piece of bread.
The man [with] an evil eye [is] troubled for wealth, And he does not know that want meets him.
Whoever is reproving a man finds grace afterward, More than a flatterer with the tongue.
24 ੨੪ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਈ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਠਹਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whoever is robbing his father or his mother, And is saying, “It is not transgression,” He is a companion to a destroyer.
Whoever is proud in soul stirs up contention, And whoever is trusting on YHWH is made fat.
Whoever is trusting in his heart is a fool, And whoever is walking in wisdom is delivered.
27 ੨੭ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਥੁੜ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਮੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਾਹਲੇ ਸਰਾਪ ਪੈਣਗੇ।
Whoever is giving to the poor has no lack, And whoever is hiding his eyes multiplied curses.
A man is hidden in the rising of the wicked, And the righteous multiply in their destruction!
