< ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ 11 >

1 ੧ ਛਲ ਵਾਲੀ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੋਲ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A deceptive balance, is an abomination to Yahweh, but, a full weight, is his delight.
2 ੨ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੁੱਧ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
When pride cometh, then cometh contempt, but, with the modest, is wisdom.
3 ੩ ਸਿੱਧਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਰਾਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਕਪਟੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਟੇਢੀ ਚਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
The integrity of the upright, shall guide them, but, the crookedness of the treacherous, shall be their ruin.
4 ੪ ਕਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Wealth, shall not profit, in the day of wrath, but, righteousness, shall deliver from death.
5 ੫ ਖਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਧਾਰਮਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਤਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The righteousness of the blameless, shall smooth his way, but, by his own lawlessness, shall the lawless one, fall.
6 ੬ ਸਿੱਧਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਧਿਆਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਛਲੀਏ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਲੋਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The righteousness of the upright, shall deliver them, but, by their own craving, shall the treacherous be captured.
7 ੭ ਜਦ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਵੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the lawless man dieth, his expectation, perisheth, and, the hope of strong men, hath vanished.
8 ੮ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਉਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The righteous man, out of distress, is delivered, then cometh a lawless man into his place.
9 ੯ ਕੁਧਰਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਛੁਡਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
With the mouth, a profane man destroyeth his neighbour, but, through knowledge, shall righteous men be delivered.
10 ੧੦ ਜਦ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜਦ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਜੈਕਾਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ!
When it is, well with the righteous, the city, exulteth, When the lawless perish, there is a shout of triumph.
11 ੧੧ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਗਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the upright are blessed, exalted is the city, but, by the mouth of the lawless, it is overthrown.
12 ੧੨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He that sheweth contempt for his neighbour, lacketh sense, but, a man of understanding, observeth silence.
13 ੧੩ ਲੁਤਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੁਪਤ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭਰੋਸੇਮੰਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕੋ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
He that goeth about talebearing, revealeth a secret, but, he that is faithful in spirit, concealeth a matter.
14 ੧੪ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਚਾਓ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
With no guidance, a people will fall, but, safety, lieth in the greatness of the counsellor.
15 ੧੫ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਾਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਬਣੇ, ਉਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He that becometh surety for a stranger, goeth to utter ruin, but, he that hateth striking hands, is secure.
16 ੧੬ ਦਯਾਵਾਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A gracious wife, obtaineth honour, but, the diligent, shall obtain wealth.
17 ੧੭ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The man of lovingkindness, dealeth well with his own soul, but the cruel man, troubleth his own flesh.
18 ੧੮ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਝੂਠ ਦੀ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਧਰਮ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
The lawless man, earneth the wages of falsehood, but, he that soweth righteousness, hath the reward of fidelity.
19 ੧੯ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A righteous son, [turneth] to life, but, he that pursueth wickedness, to his own death.
20 ੨੦ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਟੇਢੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਖਰੀ ਚਾਲ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The abomination of Yahweh, are they of perverse heart, but, his delight, are the men of blameless life.
21 ੨੧ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੰਡ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾ ਛੁੱਟੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ ਛੁਡਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
Hand to hand, the wicked man shall not be held innocent, but, the seed of the righteous, hath been delivered.
22 ੨੨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰ ਦੇ ਨੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਨੱਥ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪਵੰਤ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਵੇਕਹੀਣ ਹੈ।
As a ring of gold in the snout of a swine, is a woman of beauty who hath abandoned discretion.
23 ੨੩ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਕਹਿਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The desire of the righteous, is only good, the expectation of the lawless, is wrath.
24 ੨੪ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਵੰਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਾਲ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਜੋਗ ਖ਼ਰਚ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਫ਼ਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
There is who scattereth, and increaseth yet more, and who withholdeth of what is due, only to come to want.
25 ੨੫ ਦਾਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਫਲਵੰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਸਿੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਸਿੰਜੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
The liberal soul, shall be enriched, and, he that refresheth, shall himself also be refreshed.
26 ੨੬ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਨਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
He that keepeth back corn, the populace will curse him, but there is, a blessing, for the head of him that selleth.
27 ੨੭ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦਾ, ਉਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਵੇਗੀ।
He that diligently seeketh good, aimeth at favour, but, he that studieth mischief, it shall come on himself.
28 ੨੮ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਹਰੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਲਹਿਲਹਾਉਣਗੇ।
He that trusteth in his riches, the same, shall fall, but, like the leaf, shall the righteous break forth.
29 ੨੯ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਵਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
He that troubleth his own house, shall inherit the wind, but, a servant, shall the foolish be, to the wise in heart.
30 ੩੦ ਧਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The fruit of the righteous, is a tree of life, and, he that rescueth souls, is wise.
31 ੩੧ ਵੇਖੋ, ਧਰਮੀ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਫਲ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਭੋਗਣਗੇ!
Lo! the righteous, in the earth shall be recompensed, how much more the lawless and the sinner.
