ਗਿਣਤੀ 24
1 ੧ ਜਦ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤ ਦੇਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਦੀਂ ਕਦਾਈਂ ਜਾਦੂਗਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਗਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਉਜਾੜ ਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to use sorcery. Instead, he looked toward the wilderness.
2 ੨ ਤਦ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਇਆ।
He raised his eyes and saw that Israel was camped, each in their own tribe, and the Spirit of God came on him.
3 ੩ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਆਖਿਆ, ਬਓਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ, ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
He received this prophecy and said, “Balaam son of Beor is about to speak, the man whose eyes are wide open.
4 ੪ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਣੀਆਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He speaks and hears God's words. He sees a vision from the Almighty, Before whom he bows down with his eyes open.
How beautiful are your tents, Jacob, the place where you live, Israel!
6 ੬ ਘਾਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉਹ ਫੈਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਨਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹਨ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਅਗਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਡੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ,
Like valleys they spread out, like gardens by the riverside, like aloes planted by Yahweh, like cedars beside the waters.
7 ੭ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਉਮੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਵਗੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਗਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਵਧਦਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
Water flows from their buckets, and their seed is well-watered. Their king is to be higher than Agag, and their kingdom will be honored.
8 ੮ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਸਾਨ੍ਹ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਵੈਰੀ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੂਰ-ਚੂਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
God brings him out of Egypt, with strength like a wild ox. He will eat up the nations who fight against him. He will break their bones to pieces. He will shoot them with his arrows.
9 ੯ ਉਹ ਚੁੱਪ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਲੇਟਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਰਨੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਕੌਣ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੇੜੇਗਾ? ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤ ਦੇਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਸਰਾਪੀ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇਵੇ!
He crouches down like a lion, like a lioness. Who dares disturb him? May everyone who blesses him be blessed; may everyone who curses him be cursed.”
10 ੧੦ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਦਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਭੜਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਨੇ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ, ਤੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਬਰਕਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam and he struck his hands together in anger. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, but look, you have blessed them three times.
11 ੧੧ ਹੁਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਚਲਿਆ ਜਾ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਪਰ ਵੇਖ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
So leave me right now and go home. I said I would greatly reward you, but Yahweh has kept you from getting any reward.”
12 ੧੨ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜੇ ਸਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
Then Balaam replied to Balak, “I said to the messengers that you sent to me,
13 ੧੩ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਭਰ ਦੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਾ ਉਲੰਘਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭਲਾ ਜਾਂ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਰਾਂ? ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਾਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕਹੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕਹਾਂਗਾ।
'Even if Balak gave me his palace full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond Yahweh's word and anything bad or good, or anything at all that I might want to do. I can say only what Yahweh tells me to say.' Did I not say this to them?
14 ੧੪ ਹੁਣ ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਆ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਾਂਗਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਖਰੀ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਗੇ।
So now, look, I will go back to my people. But first let me warn you what this people will do to your people in the days ahead.”
15 ੧੫ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਆਖਿਆ, ਬਓਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ, ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
Balaam began this prophecy. He said, “Balaam son of Beor speaks, The man whose eyes are wide open.
16 ੧੬ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਣੀਆਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅੱਤ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
This is a prophecy of someone who hears words from God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who has visions from the Almighty, Before whom he bows down with open eyes.
17 ੧੭ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਤਾਰਾ ਚੜ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਜ ਉੱਠੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਮੋਆਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਹੱਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੂਰ-ਚੂਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੰਗਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ੇਥ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ।
I see him, but he is not here now. I look at him, but he is not near. A star will come out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will shatter Moab's leaders and destroy all the descendants of Seth.
18 ੧੮ ਅਦੋਮ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸੇਈਰ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਸੂਰਬੀਰਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
Then Edom will become a possession of Israel, and Seir will also become their possession, enemies of Israel, whom Israel will conquer with force.
Out of Jacob a king will come who will have dominion, and he will destroy the survivors of their city.”
20 ੨੦ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਲੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਮਾਲੇਕ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਤਾਂ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ।
Then Balaam looked at Amalek and began his prophecy. He said, “Amalek was once the greatest of nations, but his final end will be destruction.”
21 ੨੧ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੇਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿੱਠਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੇਰਾ ਵਸੇਰਾ ਸਥਿਰ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਲ੍ਹਣਾ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ,
Then Balaam looked toward the Kenites and began his prophecy. He said, “The place where you live is strong, and your nest is in the rocks.
Nevertheless you Kenites will be consumed by fire when Assyria carries you away captive.”
Then Balaam began his final prophecy. He said, “Woe! Who will survive when God does this?
Ships will come from the coast of Kittim; they will attack Assyria and will conquer Eber, but they, too, will end in destruction.”
Then Balaam got up and left. He returned to his home, and Balak also went away.
