ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ 4
1 ੧ ਸੋਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ! ਖ਼ਰਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ? ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਹਰ ਗਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਖਿੱਲਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ!
[ALEPH-BET] How the gold has become dim, Changed the best—the pure gold! Stones of the sanctuary are poured out At the head of all out-places.
2 ੨ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੇ ਲਾਡਲੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਸਨ, ਕਿਵੇਂ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਸਮਝੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ!
The precious sons of Zion, Who are comparable with fine gold, How they have been reckoned earthen bottles, Work of the hands of a potter.
3 ੩ ਗਿੱਦੜੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਛਾਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਧ ਚੁੰਘਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਧੀ, ਉਜਾੜ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਤਰਮੁਰਗਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ!
Even dragons have drawn out the breast, They have suckled their young ones, The daughter of my people has become cruel, Like the ostriches in a wilderness.
4 ੪ ਦੁੱਧ ਚੁੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪਿਆਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤਾਲੂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ, ਨਿਆਣੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
The tongue of a suckling has cleaved to his palate with thirst, Infants asked for bread, they have no dealer [of it] out.
5 ੫ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਖ਼ਮਲੀ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਲਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਗੁਹੀਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਫ਼ੀਆਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ!
Those eating of delicacies have been desolate in out-places, Those supported on scarlet have embraced dunghills.
6 ੬ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਸਦੂਮ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਲਾਏ ਇੱਕ ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਢਾਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
And greater is the iniquity of the daughter of my people, Than the sin of Sodom, That was overturned as [in] a moment, And no hands were stayed on her.
7 ੭ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਤਵੰਤ ਬਰਫ਼ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਮੂੰਗੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਲਾਲ ਸਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਮਕ ਨੀਲਮ ਵਰਗੀ ਸੀ।
Purer were her Nazarites than snow, Whiter than milk, ruddier of body than rubies, Of sapphire their form.
8 ੮ ਹੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਕਾਲਖ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਚਾਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਮੜਾ ਸੁੰਗੜ ਕੇ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੱਕੜ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Their face has been darker than blackness, They have not been known in out-places, Their skin has cleaved to their bone, It has withered—it has been as wood.
9 ੯ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ, ਭੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਖੇਤ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁੱਕਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Better have been the pierced of a sword Than the pierced of famine, For these flow away, pierced through, Without the increase of the field.
10 ੧੦ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਕਾਇਆ! ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਸਨ!
The hands of merciful women have boiled their own children, They have been for food to them, In the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 ੧੧ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੜਕਦਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਡੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਭੜਕਾਈ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੀਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਸਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
YHWH has completed His fury, He has poured out the fierceness of His anger, And He kindles a fire in Zion, And it devours her foundations.
12 ੧੨ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਯਕੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਕਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਫਾਟਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਵੜੇ।
The kings of earth did not believe, And any of the inhabitants of the world, That an adversary and enemy would come Into the gates of Jerusalem.
13 ੧੩ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਵਹਾਇਆ।
Because of the sins of her prophets, The iniquities of her priests, Who are shedding in her midst the blood of the righteous,
14 ੧੪ ਉਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਲਹੂ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਭਈ ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਛੂਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
They have wandered naked in out-places, They have been defiled with blood, Without [any] being able to touch their clothing,
15 ੧੫ ਲੋਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ “ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੋ,” “ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਹੋਇਓ! ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੋ, ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੋ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੂਹੋ!” ਜਦ ਉਹ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰੇ-ਮਾਰੇ ਫਿਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ, ਤਦ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਆਖਦੇ ਸਨ, “ਉਹ ਐਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ!”
“Turn aside—unclean,” they called to them, “Turn aside, turn aside, do not touch,” For they fled—indeed, they have wandered, They have said among nations: “They do not add to sojourn.”
16 ੧੬ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਫੇਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਨਾ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
The face of YHWH has divided them, He does not add to behold them, They have not lifted up the face of priests, They have not favored [the] old and elderly.
17 ੧੭ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਥੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੌਮ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਬਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
While we exist—consumed are our eyes for our vain help, In our watchtower we have watched for a nation [that] does not save.
18 ੧੮ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੌਂਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਸਾਡਾ ਅੰਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਇਆ, ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡਾ ਅੰਤ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
They have hunted our steps from going in our broad-places, Near has been our end, fulfilled our days, For our end has come.
19 ੧੯ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਉਕਾਬਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਭੱਜੇ, ਉਹ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਘਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ।
Swifter have been our pursuers, Than the eagles of the heavens, On the mountains they have burned [after] us, In the wilderness they have laid wait for us.
20 ੨੦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਮਸਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਜੋ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਨਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਸੀ, ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਏ ਹੇਠ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ, ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਟੋਇਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ!
The breath of our nostrils—the anointed of YHWH, Has been captured in their pits, of whom we said: “We live among nations in his shadow.”
21 ੨੧ ਹੇ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਊਜ਼ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈਂ, ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾ! ਇਹ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੱਕ ਵੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਗੀ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ!
Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, Dwelling in the land of Uz, Even to you a cup passes over, You are drunk, and make yourself naked.
22 ੨੨ ਹੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਤੇਰੀ ਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਈ, ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ! ਹੇ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਉਘਾੜ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ!
Completed [is] your iniquity, daughter of Zion, He does not add to remove you, He has inspected your iniquity, O daughter of Edom, He has removed [you] because of your sins!
