ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ 15
1 ੧ ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਇੱਕ ਮੇਮਣਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਹੁਰੇ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
2 ੨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਹੁਰੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਭਲਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਭੈਣ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ? ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲੈ।”
And her father said, I truly thought that you had utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray you, instead of her.
3 ੩ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੁਣ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਹੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਂਗਾ।”
And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
4 ੪ ਤਦ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸੌ ਲੂੰਬੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਦੋ-ਦੋ ਲੂੰਬੜੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਛ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਛ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੂਛਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਮਸ਼ਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the middle between two tails.
5 ੫ ਅਤੇ ਮਸ਼ਾਲਾਂ ਜਲਾ ਕੇ ਲੂੰਬੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੂਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪੱਕੀਆਂ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ੈਤੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵੀ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
6 ੬ ਤਦ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?” ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤਿਮਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਈ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।” ਤਦ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
7 ੭ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ।”
And Samson said to them, Though you have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
8 ੮ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਿਆ, ਤਦ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਏਟਾਮ ਨਾਮਕ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ।
And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelled in the top of the rock Etam.
Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
10 ੧੦ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ ਹੋ?” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰੀਏ।”
And the men of Judah said, Why are you come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he has done to us.
11 ੧੧ ਤਦ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਏਟਾਮ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਦੀ ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ? ਫਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ?” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ।”
Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Know you not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that you have done to us? And he said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.
12 ੧੨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੌਂਪ ਦੇਈਏ।” ਤਦ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਓ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ।”
And they said to him, We are come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me, that you will not fall on me yourselves.
13 ੧੩ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ, ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਾਂਗੇ।” ਫੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਨਵੇਂ ਰੱਸਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਰ ਲਿਆਏ।
And they spoke to him, saying, No; but we will bind you fast, and deliver you into their hand: but surely we will not kill you. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
14 ੧੪ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਲਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਚਿੱਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ। ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਰੱਸੇ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਣ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਏ।
And when he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily on him, and the cords that were on his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
15 ੧੫ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਗਧੇ ਦੇ ਜਬਾੜੇ ਦੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਹੱਡੀ ਲੱਭੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ।
And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
16 ੧੬ ਤਦ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, - “ਇੱਕ ਗਧੇ ਦੇ ਜਬਾੜੇ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਂ ਢੇਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਲੱਗ ਗਏ! ਮੈਂ ਗਧੇ ਦੇ ਜਬਾੜੇ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ!”
And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps on heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17 ੧੭ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਖ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਬਾੜੇ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਮਥ-ਲਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.
18 ੧੮ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਵਾਂ?”
And he was sore thirsty, and called on the LORD, and said, You have given this great deliverance into the hand of your servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19 ੧੯ ਤਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਲਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਟੋਆ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਿੱਕਲਣ ਲੱਗਿਆ, ਜਦ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੇ ਪੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਨ ਆਈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਏਨ-ਹੱਕੋਰੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਲਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
But God split an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water out of there; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: why he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
