ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ 3
1 ੧ ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਸ਼ਿੱਟੀਮ ਤੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰਕੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਠਹਿਰ ਗਏ ।
Early the following morning Joshua and the Israelites set out from Shittim and arrived at the banks of the Jordan. There they all spent the night before crossing over.
Three days later those in charge of the people went through the camp
3 ੩ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੇਵੀ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖੋ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ-ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੱਲਿਓ।
telling the people, “When you see the Ark of the Agreement of the Lord your God carried by the priests, the Levites, you must leave the place where you are and follow it.
4 ੪ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਮਿਣਤੀ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਕੁ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਹੱਥ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਾਸਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾ ਜਾਇਓ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਣੋ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘੇ।
That way you'll know which way to go, since you haven't been here before. Leave about 3,000 feet between you and the Ark. Don't go near it!”
5 ੫ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਕੱਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਦਭੁੱਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
Then Joshua said to the people, “Make sure you are pure, because tomorrow the Lord is going to do amazing things among you.”
6 ੬ ਫਿਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੋ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ।
Joshua spoke to the priests, “Pick up the Ark of the Agreement and go before the people.” So they picked up the Ark of the Agreement and went ahead of the people.
7 ੭ ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਨ ਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਸੀ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਵੀ ਹਾਂ।
The Lord said to Joshua, “What I do today will confirm you as great leader in the sight of all the Israelites, so that they'll realize that just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.
8 ੮ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ।
Tell the priests carrying the Ark of the Agreement, ‘When you get to the edge of the Jordan, take a few steps into the water and then stop.’”
So Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to what the Lord your God has to say to you.
10 ੧੦ ਤਦ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੋਗੇ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਨਾਨੀਆਂ, ਹਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਹਿੱਵੀਆਂ, ਫ਼ਰਿੱਜ਼ੀਆਂ, ਗਿਰਗਾਸ਼ੀਆਂ, ਅਮੋਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਬੂਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
This is how you will know that the living God is right here with you,” he told them. “You can be sure that he will drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites.
Just watch—the Ark of the Agreement of the Lord of all the earth will cross in front of you through the Jordan.
Choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one per tribe.
13 ੧੩ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਵਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਵੱਖਰੇ-ਵੱਖਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਢੇਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
The moment the priests carrying the Ark step into the water the river will stop flowing and the water will pile up.”
14 ੧੪ ਤਦ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੇ ਕਿ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
So the people broke camp and set out to cross the Jordan, with the priests carrying the Ark ahead of them.
15 ੧੫ ਜਦ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਤੱਕ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਕੰਢੇ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਰਦਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਿਆ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਵੱਢਣ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਕੰਢਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
As it was harvest season, the Jordan was full of water, overflowing its banks. But at the very moment the priests carrying the Ark stepped into the water, the river stopped flowing.
16 ੧੬ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਵਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਆਦਾਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਾਰਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਹੈ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਠਹਿਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਢੇਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅਰਾਬਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਖਾਰੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵੱਲ ਵਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਅੱਡ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ।
The water piled up a long way upstream, at the town of Adam, near Zarethan, while downstream no more water flowed into the Dead Sea. So the people crossed over, opposite Jericho.
17 ੧੭ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜਾਜਕ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਸਨ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸੁੱਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਸੁੱਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੌਮ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਨਾ ਚੁੱਕੀ।
The priests carrying the Ark stood on the dried-up riverbed of the Jordan as all the people went by, staying there until everyone had crossed over on dry ground.
