ਯੂਨਾਹ 2
[While he was] inside the huge fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh God, [whom] he [worshiped. After Yahweh told him that he would answer his prayer, ]
2 ੨ “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਔਖੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਢਿੱਡ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ।” (Sheol h7585)
Jonah said, “Yahweh, when I was greatly distressed [here], I prayed to you, and you heard what I [prayed]. When I was [about to descend way down into] the place where dead people go, you heard me when I called out [for you to help/save me]. (Sheol h7585)
3 ੩ “ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡੂੰਘਿਆਈ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਤਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਰੰਗਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਗਈਆਂ।”
You threw me [down] into the deep [water], into the bottom [DOU] of the sea. The currents of the sea swirled around me, and the huge waves crashed above me.
4 ੪ ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਫੇਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਭਵਨ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕਾਂਗਾ।
Then I thought, ‘You have banished me, and I will never be able to enter your presence again. I will never see your holy temple [in Jerusalem] again!’
5 ੫ “ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਨ ਤੱਕ ਘੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ, ਡੁੰਘਿਆਈ ਨੇ ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰਿਓਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ, ਸਾਗਰੀ ਜਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ!
The water surrounded me, and threatened to drown me. Seaweed was wrapped around my head.
6 ੬ “ਮੈਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਡੁੱਬ ਗਿਆ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਢੱਕ ਲਿਆ, ਪਰ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ! ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਭੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਲਿਆਇਆ।
I sank down to where the mountains start rising [MET] [from the bottom of the sea]. I thought that forever [it would be as though] my body would be in a prison [MTY] [inside the earth] below me. But you, Yahweh God, whom I [worship], rescued me from going down to the place of the dead.
7 ੭ “ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਗਿਆ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ।
When I was almost dead [EUP], Yahweh, I (thought about/prayed to) you. You [heard] my prayer, up [there where] you [are, in] your holy temple.
All those who worship worthless idols are rejecting [you], the one who [could] act kindly toward them.
9 ੯ “ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਸੁੱਖਣਾ ਸੁੱਖੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਬਚਾਉ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।”
But I will sing to thank [you], and I will offer a sacrifice to you. I will [surely] do what I have solemnly promised [to do]. Yahweh, you are the one who is [able to] save [us].”
Then Yahweh commanded the huge fish to vomit out Jonah, [and the fish did that], and [Jonah was able to get] to the land.
