ਅੱਯੂਬ 4

1 ੧ ਤਦ ਅਲੀਫਾਜ਼ ਤੇਮਾਨੀ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ,

Then spake Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:

2 ੨ “ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਮੰਨੇਗਾ? ਪਰ ਬੋਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

If one attempt a word with thee, wilt thou be offended? But who can refrain from speaking?

3 ੩ ਵੇਖ, ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ, ਅਤੇ ਢਿੱਲੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਤਕੜਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

Behold, thou hast admonished many; Thou hast strengthened feeble hands;

4 ੪ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਡਗਮਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਥੰਮਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੰਬਦੇ ਗੋਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕੀਤਾ,

Thy words have upheld him that was falling, And thou hast given strength to feeble knees.

5 ੫ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਘਬਰਾ ਉੱਠਿਆ।

But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art confounded!

6 ੬ ਭਲਾ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ? ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਰਿਆਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਨਹੀਂ?

Is not thy fear of God thy hope, And the uprightness of thy ways thy confidence?

7 ੭ “ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ, ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਨੇਕ ਜਨ ਕਦੇ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਗਏ?

Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished being innocent? Or where have the righteous been cut off?

8 ੮ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢਦੇ ਹਨ।

According to what I have seen, they who plough iniquity, And sow mischief, reap the same.

9 ੯ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

By the blast of God they perish, And by the breath of his nostrils they are consumed.

10 ੧੦ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦਾ ਗੱਜਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਘਾਤਕ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦਾ ਦਹਾੜਨਾ ਬੰਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਸ਼ੇਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ ਭੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.

11 ੧੧ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਥੁੜ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਰਨੀ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਖਿੰਡ-ਪੁੰਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The fierce lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.

12 ੧੨ “ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਚੋਰੀ-ਛੁੱਪੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਈ ਗਈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭਣਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ,

A word was once secretly brought to me, And mine ear caught a whisper thereof.

13 ੧੩ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਫਨਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਜਦ ਭਾਰੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

Amid thoughts from visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men,

14 ੧੪ ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਂਬਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ!

A fear and a horror came upon me, Which made all my bones to shake.

15 ੧੫ ਇੱਕ ਰੂਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘੀ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਲੂਈਂ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ!

Then a spirit passed before my face, The hair of my flesh rose on end;

16 ੧੬ ਉਹ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ, ਕੋਈ ਰੂਪ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੀ, ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਰਹੀ, ਫੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ।

It stood still, but its form I could not discern; An image was before mine eyes; There was silence, and I heard a voice:

17 ੧੭ ਕੀ ਨਾਸਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਕੀ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ?

“Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall man be more pure than his Maker?

18 ੧੮ ਵੇਖ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Behold, he putteth no trust in his ministering spirits, And his angels he chargeth with frailty.

19 ੧੯ ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਕੀ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੱਚੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੀਂਹਾਂ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਤੰਗੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੀਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

What then are they who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who crumble to pieces, as if moth-eaten!

20 ੨੦ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਟੁੱਕੜੇ-ਟੁੱਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Between morning and evening are they destroyed; They perish for ever, and none regardeth it.

21 ੨੧ ਕੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਦਾ ਕਿੱਲਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਟਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ? ਉਹ ਬੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।”

The excellency that is in them is torn away; They die before they have become wise.”
