1 ੧ ਤਦ ਸੋਫ਼ਰ ਨਅਮਾਤੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਧੀਕ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ?
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
2 ੨ ਕੀ ਬਕਵਾਸੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਰਮੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ?
Shall not the multitude of words receive an answer? Shall the man of words be justified?
3 ੩ ਕੀ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਪਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਪ ਕਰਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ? ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਮਖ਼ੌਲ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ?
Shall thy boastings make men hold their peace? Shalt thou mock, and none put thee to shame?
4 ੪ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹਾਂ।
Thou sayest, My speech is pure; I am clean in thine eyes, [[O God!]]
5 ੫ ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਪ ਬੋਲੇ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੇ,
But O that God would speak, And open his lips against thee;
6 ੬ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇ! ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁ-ਗੁਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
That he would show thee the secrets of his wisdom, —His wisdom, which is unsearchable! Then shouldst thou know that God forgiveth thee many of thine iniquities.
7 ੭ “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜਾਂ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਪੂਰਨਤਾਈ ਤੱਕ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
Canst thou search out the deep things of God? Canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection?
8 ੮ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਤਾਲ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ? (Sheol h7585)
'Tis high as heaven, what canst thou do? Deeper than hell, what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)
9 ੯ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਪ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਮਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਚੌੜਾ ਹੈ।
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, And broader than the sea.
10 ੧੦ “ਜੇਕਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਲਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਬੁਲਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕੌਣ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
If he apprehend, and bind, and bring to trial, Who shall oppose him?
11 ੧੧ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਨਿਕੰਮੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
For he knoweth the unrighteous; He seeth iniquity, when they do not observe it.
12 ੧੨ ਜਦ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਗਧੇ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਮੇ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
But vain man is without understanding; Yea, man is born a wild ass's colt.
13 ੧੩ “ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰੇਂ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਅੱਡੇਂ,
If thou direct thy heart, And stretch out thy hands, toward him;
14 ੧੪ ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਬਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੇਂ, ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਵੱਸੇ,
If thou put away iniquity from thy hand, And let not wickedness dwell in thy habitation, —
15 ੧੫ ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੇਦਾਗ਼ ਚੁੱਕੇਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਡਰੇਂਗਾ।
Then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; Yea, thou shalt be steadfast, and have no fear.
16 ੧੬ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ,
For thou shalt forget thy misery, Or remember it as waters that have passed away.
17 ੧੭ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੇਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਹਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
Thy life shall be brighter than the noon-day; Now thou art in darkness, thou shalt then be as morning.
18 ੧੮ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਟੇਂਗਾ।
Thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; Now thou art disappointed, thou shalt then rest in safety.
19 ੧੯ ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਵੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕਣਗੇ।
Thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; And many shall make suit unto thee.
20 ੨੦ ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੁੰਦਲੀਆਂ ਪੈ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਾਓ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਥਾਨ ਨਾ ਬਚੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਿਆਗਣਾ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ!”
But the eyes of the wicked shall be wearied out; They shall find no refuge; Their hope is—the breathing forth of life.
