ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ 9
1 ੧ ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਅੰਝੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੋਤਾ! ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਢਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ!
Oh, that mine head were full of water and mine eyes a fountaine of teares, that I might weepe day and night for the slayne of the daughter of my people.
2 ੨ ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ! ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਭਚਾਰੀ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬੇਈਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੋਲੀ ਹਨ।
Oh, that I had in the wildernes a cottage of wayfaring men, that I might leaue my people, and go from them: for they be all adulterers and an assembly of rebels,
3 ੩ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨੂੰ ਧਣੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਝੂਠ ਲਈ ਲਿਫਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਦੀ ਤੱਕ ਵਧਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
And they bende their tongues like their bowes for lyes: but they haue no courage for the trueth vpon the earth: for they proceede from euill to worse, and they haue not knowen mee, sayth the Lord.
4 ੪ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਤੋਂ ਚੌਕਸ ਰਹੇ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਭਰਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਾ ਰੱਖੋ, ਹਰੇਕ ਭਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਾ ਥਾਂ ਖੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਚੁਗਲਖ਼ੋਰ ਹੈ।
Let euery one take heede of his neighbour, and trust you not in any brother: for euery brother will vse deceite, and euery friend will deale deceitfully,
5 ੫ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨਾਲ ਠੱਠਾ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨੂੰ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਸਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੇਰਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਧੋਖੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਹੈ,
And euery one wil deceiue his friende, and wil not speake the trueth: for they haue taught their tongues to speake lies, and take great paynes to do wickedly.
Thine habitation is in the middes of deceiuers: because of their deceit they refuse to know me, sayth the Lord.
7 ੭ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖਾਂਗਾ, ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੀ ਹੈ?
Therefore thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Behold, I wil melt them, and trie them: for what should I els do for the daughter of my people?
8 ੮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੀਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਧੋਖੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Their tongue is as an arow shot out, and speaketh deceite: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart hee layeth waite for him.
9 ੯ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, - ਕੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ? ਕੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੌਮ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਦਲਾ ਨਾ ਲਵੇਗੀ?
Shal I not visit them for these things, saith the Lord? or shall not my soule be auenged on such a nation as this?
10 ੧੦ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਲਈ ਰੋਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਰਲਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਰਗਾਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਿਆਪਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਸੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਸੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘਦਾ, ਵੱਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੀ। ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਡੰਗਰਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਨੱਠ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Vpon the mountaines will I take vp a weeping and a lamentation, and vpon the fayre places of the wildernes a mourning, because they are burnt vp: so that none can passe through them, neyther can men heare the voyce of the flocke: both the foule of the aire, and the beast are fled away and gone.
11 ੧੧ ਮੈਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋਏ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਢੇਰ, ਅਤੇ ਗਿੱਦੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਹ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
And I wil make Ierusalem an heape, and a den of dragons, and I will make the cities of Iudah waste, without an inhabitant.
12 ੧੨ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਸਕੇ? ਜਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇ। ਧਰਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਲ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘਦਾ?
Who is wise, to vnderstande this? and to whome the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, euen he shall declare it. Why doth the land perish, and is burnt vp like a wildernesse, that none passeth through?
13 ੧੩ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਹਨ
And the Lord sayeth, Because they haue forsaken my Lawe, which I set before them, and haue not obeyed my voice, neither walked thereafter,
14 ੧੪ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਆਲੀਮ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਸੀ
But haue walked after the stubbernesse of their owne heart, and after Baalims, which their fathers taught them,
15 ੧੫ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਕ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਖੁਆਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹੁ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਲਾਵਾਂਗਾ
Therefore thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feede this people with wormewood, and giue them waters of gall to drinke:
16 ੧੬ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ ਖੇਰੂੰ-ਖੇਰੂੰ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਭੇਜਾਂਗਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
I wil scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers haue knowen, and I will send a sworde after them, til I haue consumed them.
17 ੧੭ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੋਚੋ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਆਪਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦੋ ਭਈ ਉਹ ਆਉਣ, ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਘੱਲੋ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਉਣ।
Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, Take heede, and call for the mourning women, that they may come, and send for skilfull women that they may come,
18 ੧੮ ਉਹ ਛੇਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੈਣ ਚੁੱਕਣ, ਭਈ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਥਰੂ ਵਗਣ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਲਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਛਮਾ-ਛਮ ਚੋਵੇ।
And let them make haste, and let them take vp a lamentation for vs, that our eyes may cast out teares and our eye liddes gush out of water.
19 ੧੯ ਵੈਣ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਕੇਹੇ ਲੁੱਟੇ ਗਏ! ਅਸੀਂ ਡਾਢੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਸੇਬਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਜੋ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ।
For a lamentable noyse is heard out of Zion, Howe are we destroyed, and vtterly confounded, for we haue forsaken the land, and our dwellings haue cast vs out.
20 ੨੦ ਹੇ ਇਸਤਰੀਓ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣੋ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਕੰਨ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੇ! ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਣ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਆਂਢਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਪਾ ਸਿਖਾਵੇ!
Therefore heare the worde of the Lord, O ye women, and let your eares regard the words of his mouth, and teach your daughters to mourne, and euery one her neighbour to lament.
21 ੨੧ ਮੌਤ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਈ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਡਿਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਭਈ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਚੌਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਵੇ।
For death is come vp into our windowes, and is entred into our palaces, to destroy the children without, and the yong men in the streetes.
22 ੨੨ ਬੋਲੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ, - ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਲੀਹ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਡਿੱਗਣਗੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਵਾਢਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਇੱਕ ਰੁੱਗ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
Speake, thus sayth the Lord, The carkeises of men shall lye, euen as the doung vpon the fielde, and as the handfull after the mower, and none shall gather them.
23 ੨੩ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ, ਨਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਕਰੇ, ਨਾ ਧਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਕਰੇ
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisedome, nor the strong man glorie in his strength, neyther the riche man glorie in his riches.
24 ੨੪ ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਕਰੇ ਭਈ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ, ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ
But let him that glorieth, glorie in this, that he vnderstandeth, and knoweth me: for I am the Lord, which shewe mercie, iudgement, and righteousnes in the earth: for in these things I delite, sayth the Lord.
Beholde, the dayes come, sayth the Lord, that I wil visite all them, which are circumcised with the vncircumcised:
26 ੨੬ ਮਿਸਰ ਨੂੰ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ, ਅਦੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮੋਨ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੁੱਕਰਾਂ ਕੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ।
Egypt and Iudah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all the vtmost corners of them that dwell in the wildernesse: for all these nations are vncircumcised, and al the house of Israel are vncircumcised in the heart.
