ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ 6
1 ੧ ਹੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀਓ, ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਾਉ ਲਈ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨੱਠੋ, ਤਕੋਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਫੂਕੋ, ਬੈਤ ਹੱਕਾਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਖੜਾ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਝਾਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
“Strengthen yourselves, sons of Benjamin, From the midst of Jerusalem, And blow a horn in Tekoa, And lift up a flame over Beth-Haccerem, For evil has been seen from the north, And great destruction.
I have cut off the lovely and delicate one, The daughter of Zion.
3 ੩ ਆਜੜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਇੱਜੜਾਂ ਸਣੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣਗੇ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਲਾਉਣਗੇ, ਹਰੇਕ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਾਵੇਗਾ।
Shepherds and their droves come to her, They have struck tents by her all around, They have each fed [in] his own station.”
4 ੪ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਛੇੜੋ, ਉੱਠੋ! ਅਸੀਂ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰੀਏ! ਹਾਏ ਸਾਨੂੰ! ਦਿਨ ਜੋ ਢਲਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਵਧਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
“Sanctify the battle against her, Rise, and we go up at noon. Woe to us, for the day has turned, For the shades of evening are stretched out,
Rise, and we go up by night, And we destroy her palaces.”
6 ੬ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੋ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਦਮਦਮਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੋ, ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੱਕਾ ਧੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
For thus said YHWH of Hosts: “Cut down her wood, And pour out a mound against Jerusalem, She [is] the city to be inspected, She [is] full of oppression in her midst.
7 ੭ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਖੂਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ। ਧੱਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੁੱਟ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਘਾਓ ਹਨ।
As the digging of a well, is [for] its waters, So she has dug [for] her wickedness, Violence and spoil is heard in her, Sickness and striking [are] continually before My face.
8 ੮ ਹੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ, ਮਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਖੱਟਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ, ਮਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਛੱਡਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੇ ਚਿਰਾਗ ਕਰ ਦੇ!
Be instructed, O Jerusalem, Lest My soul be alienated from you, Lest I make you a desolation, A land [that is] not inhabited.”
9 ੯ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦ-ਖੁਹੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚੁੱਗ ਲੈਣਗੇ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਚੁਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਫੇਰ।
Thus said YHWH of Hosts: “They surely glean, as a vine, the remnant of Israel, Put your hand back, as a gatherer to the baskets.”
10 ੧੦ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਤਾਵਾਂ, ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸੁਣਨ? ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਆਦਰੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਗਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
To whom do I speak, and testify, and they hear? Behold, their ear [is] uncircumcised, And they are not able to attend. Behold, a word of YHWH has been to them for a reproach, They do not delight in it.
11 ੧੧ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਗਜ਼ਬ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ-ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਇਹ ਨੂੰ ਗਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਲੱਦ ਦੇ, ਨਾਲੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ। ਨਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਫੜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ।
And I have been filled with the fury of YHWH (I have been weary of containing), “To pour [it] on the suckling in the street, And on the assembly of youths together, For even husband with wife are captured, [The] elderly with one full of days,
12 ੧੨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਨਾਲੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵੀ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਚੁੱਕਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
And their houses have been turned to others, Fields and wives together, For I stretch out My hand against the inhabitants of the land,” A declaration of YHWH.
13 ੧੩ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਫ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਭੀ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
“For from their least to their greatest, Everyone is gaining dishonest gain, And from prophet even to priest, Everyone is dealing falsely,
14 ੧੪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਫੱਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ! ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ।
And they heal the breach of the daughter of My people slightly, Saying, Peace, peace! And there is no peace.
15 ੧੫ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਲੱਜਿਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਜਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ? ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੂਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਲੱਜਿਆਵਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਾਲ ਪੀਲਾ ਹੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਵੀ ਨਾ! ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਡਿੱਗਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਣਗੇ, ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ। ਉਹ ਠੁਕਰਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
They were ashamed when they did abomination! Indeed, they are not at all ashamed, Indeed, they have not known blushing, Therefore they fall among those falling, In the time I have inspected them, They stumble,” said YHWH.
16 ੧੬ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਲੋ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਰਸਤਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੁੱਛੋ, ਕਿ ਅੱਛਾ ਰਾਹ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ? ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਰਾਮ ਪਾਓਗੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਚੱਲਾਂਗੇ।
Thus said YHWH: “Stand by the ways and see, and ask for paths of old, Where [is] this—the good way? And go in it, And find rest for yourselves. And they say, We do not go.
17 ੧੭ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਰਾਖੇ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿਓ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਅਸੀਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ।
And I have raised up watchmen for you, Attend to the voice of the horn. And they say, We do not attend.
Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, That which [is] on them.
19 ੧੯ ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੁਣ! ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਲਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Hear, O earth, behold, I am bringing evil on this people, The fruit of their plans, For they gave no attention to My words, And My law—they kick against it.
20 ੨੦ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਬਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਦ-ਮੁਸ਼ਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ? ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ।
Why [is] this to Me? Frankincense comes from Sheba, And the sweet cane from a far-off land, Your burnt-offerings [are] not for acceptance, And your sacrifices have not been sweet to Me.”
21 ੨੧ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਠੇਡਾ ਖਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਰੱਖਾਂਗਾ, ਪਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਠੇਡਾ ਖਾਣਗੇ, ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
Therefore, thus said YHWH: “Behold, I give stumbling blocks to this people, And fathers and sons have stumbled against them together, The neighbor and his friend perish.”
22 ੨੨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖੋ, ਲੋਕ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਲੱਗੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਕੌਮ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਗ ਉੱਠੀ ਹੈ।
Thus said YHWH: “Behold, a people has come from a north country, And a great nation is stirred up from the sides of the earth.
23 ੨੩ ਉਹ ਧਣੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਲਾ ਫੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਰਹਿਮ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਗੱਜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜੰਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਪਾਲਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ!
They take hold of bow and javelin, It [is] fierce, and they have no mercy, Their voice sounds as a sea, And they ride on horses, Set in array as a man of war, Against you, O daughter of Zion.”
24 ੨੪ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਡੇ ਹੱਥ ਢਿੱਲੇ ਪੈ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਣਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੀੜਾਂ।
We have heard its sound, our hands have been feeble, Distress has seized us, pain as of a travailing woman.
Do not go forth to the field, And do not walk in the way, For the enemy has a sword, Fear [is] all around.
26 ੨੬ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਆਪਣੇ ਲੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੱਪੜ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੇਟਿਆ ਰਹਿ। ਤੂੰ ਸੋਗ ਕਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਕਲੌਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰੀ ਸਿਆਪਾ ਕਰ, - ਸੱਤਿਆਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
O daughter of my people, Gird on sackcloth, And roll yourself in ashes, Make mourning [as for] an only one, A most bitter lamentation, For the spoiler suddenly comes against us.
27 ੨੭ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬੁਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਭਈ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਖੇਂ।
“I have given you a watchtower, A fortress among My people, And you know, and have tried their way.
28 ੨੮ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਢੀਠ ਤੇ ਆਕੀ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਚੁਗਲੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਹਾ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੈੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
All of them are turned aside by apostates, Walking slanderously—bronze and iron, All of them are corrupters.
29 ੨੯ ਧੌਕਣੀ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਫੂਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿੱਕਾ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਭਸਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਐਂਵੇਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਵੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ।
The bellows have been burned, The lead has been consumed by fire, A refiner has refined in vain, And the wicked have not been drawn away.
They have called them rejected silver, For YHWH has kicked against them!”
