ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ 49
1 ੧ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਨਹੀਂ? ਫਿਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਲਕਾਮ ਨੇ ਗਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ? ਅਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ?
[This message is] about the Ammon people-group. This is what Yahweh says: “There are [RHQ] plenty of Israeli people left to occupy [the land of the tribe of] Gad. So, why are [RHQ] [the people who worship the god] Molech living in those towns?
2 ੨ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਲੜਾਈ ਦਾ ਰੌਲ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੱਬਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਥੇਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਬਸਤੀਆਂ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਾੜੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ, ਤਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
There will be a time when I will sound the battle-cry [for their enemies] to attack [their capital city], Rabbah. [Then] it will become a heap of ruins, and [all] the nearby towns will be burned. Then [the people of] Israel will again possess the land that the Ammon people-group took away from them.
3 ੩ ਹੇ ਹਸ਼ਬੋਨ, ਰੋ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਈ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਹੇ ਰੱਬਾਹ ਦੀ ਧੀਓ, ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿਓ! ਆਪਣੇ ਤੇੜ ਤੱਪੜ ਪਾਓ, ਸੋਗ ਕਰੋ, ਵਾੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਧਰ ਉੱਧਰ ਦੌੜੋ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮਲਕਾਮ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ।
You people of Heshbon [city] [MTY], wail, because Ai [town nearby] will be destroyed. You people of Rabbah [city], weep; put on (rough clothing/sackcloth) [to show you are mourning]; run back and forth [in confusion] inside the city walls, because [your god] Milcom, along with its priests and officials, will be taken away (in exile/to other countries).
4 ੪ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ? ਹੇ ਫਿਰਤੂ ਧੀਏ, ਤੇਰੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਗਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕੌਣ ਆਵੇਗਾ?
You are [RHQ] very proud of your very fertile valleys, [but they will soon be ruined]. You rebellious people, you trusted in your wealth, and you said, ‘Certainly no [RHQ] army will be able to attack us!’
5 ੫ ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭੋਂ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ, ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਹਨ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੱਕੇ ਜਾਓਗੇ, ਭਗੌੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
But listen to this: 'I, the Commander of the armies of angels, will cause you to become terrified. You will all be forced to flee [to other countries], and no one will be able to bring you together [again].'
But some day I will enable the Ammon people-group to return to their land. [That will surely happen, because I, ] Yahweh, have said it.”
7 ੭ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ, ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਕੀ ਤੇਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨਾ ਰਹੀ? ਕੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ? ਕੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ?
[This message is] about the Edom people-group. This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “It seems that [RHQ] there are no wise people in Teman [district in Edom]! There are no people left who can give others [good] advice. The people who were wise [PRS] have disappeared.
8 ੮ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨੱਠੋ, ਮੁੜੋ ਅਤੇ ਡੁੰਘਿਆਈਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸੋ, ਹੇ ਦਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਓ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਏਸਾਓ ਦੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ, ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿਆਂ!
You people of Dedan [city in the south of Edom], turn and flee and hide in deep [caves], because when I cause the Edom people-group to experience disaster, I will punish you, too.
9 ੯ ਜੇ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਤੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣ, ਕੀ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਦਾਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਣਗੇ? ਜੇ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰ ਆਉਣ, ਕੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਲੋੜ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੁੱਟਣਗੇ?
Those who harvest grapes always [RHQ] leave some on the vines. When thieves come at night, they surely [RHQ] steal only as much as they want.
10 ੧੦ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਏਸਾਓ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਪੜਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲੁਕਾ ਸਕੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਸਲ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਵੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ।
But I will cause everything in Edom to be destroyed, and there will be nothing left, and there will be no place for people to hide. [Many of] [HYP] the children, their relatives and their neighbors, will die, and Edom will not exist any more.
But I will protect the orphans, and the widows [also] will [be able to] depend on me [to help them].”
12 ੧੨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਭਈ ਕਟੋਰਾ ਪੀਣ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪੀਣਾ ਹੈ। ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਬੇਦੋਸ਼ਾ ਹੈਂ? ਤੂੰ ਬੇਦੋਸ਼ਾ ਨਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਪੀਵੇਂਗਾ
And this is [also] what Yahweh says: “If those who do not deserve to suffer [MET] must suffer, you people of Edom must [RHQ] suffer much more [DOU]! You will not escape being punished.
13 ੧੩ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਬਾਸਰਾਹ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਹਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਖਰਾਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਾਪ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।
I, Yahweh, have solemnly promised, using my own name, that [your chief city] Bozrah will become a place that people will be horrified about. It will be a heap of ruins. People will make fun of it and use its name when they curse people. All the nearby towns and villages will be a ruins forever.”
14 ੧੪ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣੀ, ਭਈ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਨਿੱਕਲੋ, ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਵੋ!
I heard this message from Yahweh: “I have sent an ambassador to [many] nations, [to tell them to] gather together to attack Edom. They must prepare for battle!”
[And Yahweh says to the people of Edom, ] “I will cause your nation to become very unimportant among the [other] nations. They will all despise your country.
16 ੧੬ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਨਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੇ, ਤੂੰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਚੱਟਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਰਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉੱਚਿਆਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਲ੍ਹਣਾ ਉਕਾਬ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਬਣਾਵੇਂ, ਪਰ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲਾਹ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
You have caused [people of other nations] to be terrified, and you [MTY] have been very proud, but you have deceived yourselves. You live in caves in the rock cliffs; [you think that you are safe there because] you live high up there. But even if you make your homes as high up as the eagles’ nests, I will cause you to come [crashing] down.
17 ੧੭ ਅਦੋਮ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਨੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵੇਗਾ
Edom will become a place about which people are horrified; people who pass by will be horrified and will (gasp/be shocked) when they see the destruction.
18 ੧੮ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਦੂਮ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੂਰਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਸ ਉੱਲਦੇ ਗਏ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ, ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮ ਵੰਸ਼ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕੇਗਾ
Edom will be destroyed as [completely as] Sodom and Gomorrah and the nearby towns were destroyed [long ago]. [As a result, ] no one will live there [any more] [DOU].
19 ੧੯ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਬਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਕੇ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਨਠਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਠਹਿਰਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ? ਅਤੇ ਕੌਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵੇਲਾ ਠਹਿਰਾਵੇਗਾ? ਕਿਹੜਾ ਅਯਾਲੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖਲੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ?
I will come to Edom [suddenly] like [SIM] a lion comes out of the jungle and [leaps on the sheep that are] eating in the good pastureland. I will quickly chase the people of Edom from their land. And [then] I will appoint for them a leader whom I will choose; [I can do that] because there is no one [RHQ] like me who can object to what I do. No ruler can oppose me.
20 ੨੦ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੋ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਜੜ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ-ਨਿੱਕੇ ਵੀ ਧੂ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਰਗਾਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ
Listen to what I have planned to do to the people of Teman [town] and [the rest of] Edom: Even the little children will be dragged away, and I will completely get rid of the people [MET] who live there.
When Edom is destroyed, the noise [will be extremely great], with the result that the earth will shake, and the wailing of the people will be heard [as far away as] the Red Sea.
22 ੨੨ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਉਕਾਬ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਡੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਸਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Look! The enemy troops will swoop/rush down over Bozrah like an eagle spreads its wings when it swoops down [to seize an animal]. On that day, [even the strongest] warriors of Edom will [be afraid] like [SIM] a woman who is about to give birth.”
23 ੨੩ ਦੰਮਿਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ, ਹਮਾਥ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਪਾਦ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਏ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਅਵਾਈਆਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ, ਉਹ ਪੰਘਰ ਗਏ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲਚਲ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
[This message is] about Damascus. [This is what Yahweh says]: “[The people in the nearby cities of] Hamath and Arpad are confused, because they have heard bad news [about Damascus]. They are very anxious and restless, like [SIM] a sea in a big storm.
24 ੨੪ ਦੰਮਿਸ਼ਕ ਨਿਰਬਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆ, ਕੰਬਣੀ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਫੜਿਆ, ਪੀੜ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਜਣਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ।
The people of Damascus have become very weak, and [they all] have (panicked/fled [because] they are very afraid). The people are anguished and in pain like [SIM] a woman [experiences] who is about to give birth.
That famous city, that I was [previously] pleased with, will be abandoned.
26 ੨੬ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਗੱਭਰੂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਚੌਂਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯੋਧੇ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
Its young men will fall in the streets. Its soldiers will all be killed in one day.
And I, the Commander of the armies of angels, will start a fire to burn the walls that surround Damascus, and the palaces of [King] Ben-Hadad will be burned down.”
28 ੨੮ ਕੇਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਸੋਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ, - ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉੱਠੋ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹੋ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰੋ!
[This is a message] about the Kedar [people-group] and the kingdom of Hazor which [the army of] Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon attacked. This is what Yahweh says: “[I will cause an army to] advance to attack Kedar and destroy those people who live east [of Judah].
29 ੨੯ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਜੜ ਲਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੜਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਊਠ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੁਕਾਰਨਗੇ, ਭਈ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਭੈਅ ਹੈ!
Their tents and their flocks [of sheep] will be captured. The curtains [in their tents] and their camels and their other possessions will be taken away. [Everywhere] men will shout, ‘We are terrified [because terrible things are happening] all around us!’
30 ੩੦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨੱਠੋ, ਬਹੁਤ ਦੂਰ ਖਿਸਕ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਡੂੰਘਿਆਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸੋ, ਹੇ ਹਾਸੋਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਓ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
So [I, ] Yahweh, say, ‘Run away [quickly]! You people who live in Hazor, go and hide in deep [caves], because King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon wants to attack you [with his army]; he is planning to destroy you!’
31 ੩੧ ਉੱਠੋ, ਇੱਕ ਨਿਸਚਿੰਤ ਕੌਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰੋ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਹਨ ਨਾ ਅਰਲ, ਉਹ ਇਕੱਲੀ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।
But I say [to Nebuchadnezzar], ‘Go up and attack that nation whose people feel secure; they do not have allies [who will help them] and do not have [walls with] gates that have bars in them.
32 ੩੨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਊਠ ਲੁੱਟ ਦਾ ਮਾਲ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਫ਼ਰੀ ਮਾਰ-ਧਾੜ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੁੱਕਰਾਂ ਮੁਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
Your troops will seize their camels and [other] livestock. I will scatter in every direction [IDM] those people who live in remote places (OR, who cut their hair short). I will cause them to experience disasters from every direction.
33 ੩੩ ਹਾਸੋਰ ਗਿੱਦੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਉੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ, ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮ ਵੰਸ਼ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਟਿਕੇਗਾ।
Hazor will become a place where jackals/wolves live, and it will be deserted forever. No one will live there again; no one will settle there [DOU].’”
34 ੩੪ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ
I received this message from Yahweh when King Zedekiah was starting to rule Judah.
35 ੩੫ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਏਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਧਣੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਮਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਹੈ
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “The men of Elam are famous (archers/men who shoot arrows well); that is how they have made their country very powerful. But I will get rid of them [MET].
36 ੩੬ ਮੈਂ ਏਲਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੌਂਹ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੌਂਹ ਕੂਟਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੌਮ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਏਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਹੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ
I will bring their enemies from all directions [IDM, DOU], and they will scatter the people of Elam in all directions. The people of Elam will be exiled to every nation on the earth [LIT, HYP].
37 ੩੭ ਮੈਂ ਏਲਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਾਹਕ ਹਨ ਹੱਕਾ-ਬੱਕਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਭੇਜਾਂਗਾ ਐਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੱਤਿਆਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
Because I am very angry with the people of Elam, I will enable their enemies to smash Elam; I will cause the people of Elam to experience great disasters. I will enable their enemies, who want to kill them, to pursue them [and kill them] with swords until I completely get rid of all of them.
38 ੩੮ ਮੈਂ ਏਲਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਰੱਖਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ
I, Yahweh, will judge them there [MTY], and [then] I will get rid of their king and [his] officials.
39 ੩੯ ਪਰ ਅੰਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਏਲਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
But some day, I will enable the people of Elam to return to their land. [That will surely happen because I, ] Yahweh, have said it.”
