ਉਤਪਤ 35
1 ੧ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉੱਠ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਵੱਸ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਬਣਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਏਸਾਓ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੱਜਿਆ ਸੀ।
And God says to Jacob, “Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared to you in your fleeing from the face of your brother Esau.”
2 ੨ ਤਦ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ, ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਬਦਲ ਲਉ।
And Jacob says to his household, and to all who [are] with him, “Turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;
3 ੩ ਅਸੀਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਰਿਹਾ।
and we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my tribulation, and is with me in the way that I have gone.”
4 ੪ ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁੰਡਲ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਤਦ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੇਠ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸ਼ਕਮ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸੀ, ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And they give to Jacob all the gods of the stranger that [are] in their hand, and the rings that [are] in their ears, and Jacob hides them under the oak which [is] by Shechem;
5 ੫ ਤਦ ਓਹ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ-ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਦੇ ਨਗਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਛਾ ਗਿਆ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
and they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which [are] around them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.
And Jacob comes to Luz which [is] in the land of Canaan (it [is] Bethel), he and all the people who [are] with him,
7 ੭ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਏਲ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਭੱਜਿਆ ਸੀ।
and he builds there an altar, and proclaims at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed to him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.
8 ੮ ਤਦ ਰਿਬਕਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਈ ਦਬੋਰਾਹ ਮਰ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਈ ਗਈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਲੋਨ-ਬਾਕੂਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, dies, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calls its name “Oak of Weeping.”
9 ੯ ਤਦ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਪਦਨ ਅਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
And God appears to Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesses him;
10 ੧੦ ਤਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
and God says to him, “Your name [is] Jacob: your name is no longer called Jacob, but Israel is your name”; and He calls his name Israel.
11 ੧੧ ਫਿਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਫਲ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੌਮ ਸਗੋਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਿੱਕਲਣਗੇ।
And God says to him, “I [am] God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from you, and kings from your loins go out;
12 ੧੨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
and the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac—to you I give it, indeed to your seed after you I give the land.”
And God goes up from him, in the place where He has spoken with him.
14 ੧੪ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪੱਥਰ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੀਣ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਲ ਡੋਲ੍ਹਿਆ।
And Jacob sets up a standing pillar in the place where He has spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he pours on it an oblation, and he pours on it oil;
and Jacob calls the name of the place where God spoke with him Bethel.
16 ੧੬ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਅਫਰਾਥ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਰਾਖ਼ੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਨ ਦਾ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਇਆ।
And they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a distance of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel bears, and is sharply pained in her bearing;
17 ੧੭ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਜਣਨ ਦੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਦਾਈ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਾ ਡਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੀ ਜੰਮੇਗਾ।
and it comes to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife says to her, “Do not fear, for this also [is] a son for you.”
18 ੧੮ ਤਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿੱਕਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਬੱਚੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਨ-ਓਨੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
And it comes to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calls his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;
and Rachel dies, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which [is] Beth-Lehem,
and Jacob sets up a standing pillar over her grave; which [is] the standing pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.
And Israel journeys, and stretches out his tent beyond the Tower of Edar;
22 ੨੨ ਜਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਖ਼ੈਲ ਬਿਲਹਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੋਈ।
and it comes to pass in Israel’s dwelling in that land, that Reuben goes, and lies with his father’s concubine Bilhah; and Israel hears.
23 ੨੩ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਬਾਰਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। ਲੇਆਹ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਨ: ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲੌਠਾ ਰਊਬੇਨ, ਫਿਰ ਸ਼ਿਮਓਨ, ਲੇਵੀ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ, ਯਿੱਸਾਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਬੂਲੁਨ।
And the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob’s firstborn Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
Sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
And sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant: Dan and Naphtali.
26 ੨੬ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਆਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਜਿਲਫਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਗਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਆਸ਼ੇਰ ਸਨ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਦਨ ਅਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੰਮੇ, ਇਹੋ ਸਨ।
And sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant: Gad and Asher. These [are] sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.
27 ੨੭ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਕੋਲ ਮਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿਰਯਥ-ਅਰਬਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਹੈ, ਆਇਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ
And Jacob comes to his father Isaac, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which [is] Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.
And the days of Isaac are one hundred and eighty years,
29 ੨੯ ਤਦ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਬਿਰਧਪੁਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਬੁਢਾਪੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਏਸਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਫ਼ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
and Isaac expires, and dies, and is gathered to his people, aged and satisfied with days; and his sons Esau and Jacob bury him.
