ਕੂਚ 5
1 ੧ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਬ ਮਨਾਵੇ।
And afterward Moses and Aaron have entered, and they say to Pharaoh, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Send My people away, and they keep a celebration for Me in the wilderness”;
2 ੨ ਪਰ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਆਂ? ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ।
and Pharaoh says, “Who [is] YHWH, that I listen to His voice to send Israel away? I have not known YHWH, and I also do not send Israel away.”
3 ੩ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਬਰਾਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਏ ਕਿਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰੇ।
And they say, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us; please let us go a journey of three days into the wilderness, and we sacrifice to our God YHWH, lest He meet us with pestilence or with sword.”
4 ੪ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਛੁਡਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੋ।
And the king of Egypt says to them, “Why, Moses and Aaron, do you free the people from its works? Go to your burdens.”
5 ੫ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ ਹੁਣ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਅਰਾਮ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ।
Pharaoh also says, “Behold, the people of the land [are] numerous now, and you have caused them to cease from their burdens!”
6 ੬ ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ
And on that day Pharaoh commands the exactors among the people and its authorities, saying,
“You do not add to give straw to the people for the making of the bricks as before—they go and have gathered straw for themselves;
8 ੮ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਓਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਜਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਣਵਾਓ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਘਟਾਓ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵਿਹਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਏ।
and you put on them the proper quantity of the bricks which they are making before, you do not diminish from it, for they are remiss, therefore they are crying, saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to our God;
9 ੯ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦੇਣ।
let the service be heavy on the men, and let them work at it, and not be dazzled by lying words.”
10 ੧੦ ਤਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
And the exactors of the people, and its authorities, go out, and speak to the people, saying, “Thus said Pharaoh: I do not give you straw,
you—go, take straw for yourselves where you can find [it], for there is nothing diminished of your service.”
And the people are scattered over all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw,
13 ੧੩ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੜੀ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਸੀ।
and the exactors are making haste, saying, “Complete your works, the matter of a day in its day, as when there is straw.”
14 ੧੪ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੇ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਮਾਰ ਖਾਧੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੱਲ ਪਰਸੋਂ ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ?।
And the authorities of the sons of Israel, whom the exactors of Pharaoh have placed over them, are beaten, saying, “Why have you not completed your portion in making brick as before, both yesterday and today?”
15 ੧੫ ਤਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਕੋਲ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ?
And the authorities of the sons of Israel come in and cry to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you do thus to your servants?
16 ੧੬ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇੱਟਾਂ ਬਣਾਓ! ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਦੋਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ।
Straw is not given to your servants, and they are saying to us, Make bricks, and behold, your servants are struck—and your people have sinned.”
17 ੧੭ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਲਸੀ ਹੋ, ਢਿੱਲੇ! ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਏ।
And he says, “Remiss—you are remiss, therefore you are saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to YHWH;
and now, go, serve; and straw is not given to you, and you give the [required] measure of bricks.”
19 ੧੯ ਤਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਬੁਰੇ ਹਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ, ਜਦ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦੇ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਘਟਾਓ।
And the authorities of the sons of Israel see them in affliction, saying, “You do not diminish from your bricks; the matter of a day in its day.”
20 ੨੦ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿੱਕਲੇ ਤਦ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਨ, ਮਿਲੇ।
And they meet Moses and Aaron standing to meet them in their coming out from Pharaoh,
21 ੨੧ ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੇ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਗੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
and say to them, “YHWH look on you, and judge, because you have caused our fragrance to stink in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants—to give a sword into their hand to slay us.”
22 ੨੨ ਫਿਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਆਉਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ?
And Moses turns back to YHWH and says, “Lord, why have You done evil to this people? Why [is] this [that] You have sent me?
23 ੨੩ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਤਦ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And since I have come to Pharaoh to speak in Your Name, he has done evil to this people, and You have not delivered Your people at all.”
