ਅਸਤਰ 4
1 ੧ ਜਦ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਫਾੜ ਕੇ, ਅਤੇ ਤੱਪੜ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਭਰੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗਾ।
Now when Mordecai found out all that was done, Mordecai tore his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and wailed loudly and a bitterly.
He came even before the King's Gate, for no one is allowed inside the King's Gate clothed with sackcloth.
3 ੩ ਹਰ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਯਮ ਗਿਆ, ਉੱਥੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਨ, ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਣ-ਪਿੱਟਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਾਹਾਕਾਰ ਮੱਚ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਤੱਪੜ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠ ਗਏ।
In every province, wherever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4 ੪ ਰਾਣੀ ਅਸਤਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖੁਸਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਤਦ ਰਾਣੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੱਪੜ ਉਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਵੇ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
Esther's maidens and her eunuchs came and told her this, and the queen was exceedingly grieved. She sent clothing to Mordecai, to replace his sackcloth; but he did not receive it.
5 ੫ ਤਦ ਅਸਤਰ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੁਸਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਹਥਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ?
Then Esther called for Hathach, one of the king's eunuchs, whom he had appointed to attend her, and commanded him to go to Mordecai, to find out what this was, and why it was.
So Hathach went out to Mordecai, to city square which was before the King's Gate.
7 ੭ ਤਦ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੀਤਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਤੋਲ ਕੇ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Mordecai told him of all that had happened to him, and the exact sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the destruction of the Jews.
8 ੮ ਫਿਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਕਲ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੇ ਹਥਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਸਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਤਰ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮਿੰਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰੇ।
He also gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given out in Shushan to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to declare it to her, and to urge her to go in to the king, to make petition to him, and to make request before him, for her people.
Hathach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
Then Esther spoke to Hathach, and gave him a message to Mordecai:
11 ੧੧ “ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੋਵੇ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਸਤਰੀ, ਜੋ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੱਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਆੱਸਾ ਵਧਾਵੇ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੀਹ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਗਈ।”
"All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, know, that whoever, whether man or woman, comes to the king into the inner court without being called, there is one law for him, that he be put to death, except those to whom the king might hold out the golden scepter, that he may live. I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days."
They told to Mordecai Esther's words.
13 ੧੩ ਤਦ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਅਸਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਵੇਂਗੀ।
Then Mordecai asked them return answer to Esther, "Do not think to yourself that you will escape in the king's house any more than all the Jews.
14 ੧੪ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਂਗੀ। ਕੀ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਔਖੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਹੈਂ?”
For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Who knows if you haven't come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"
Then Esther asked them to answer Mordecai,
16 ੧੬ “ਤੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖੋ, ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ, ਤਿੰਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੱਕ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਪੀਣਾ। ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਾਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਯਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗੀ। ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਹੋ ਗਈ।”
"Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish."
So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
