ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ 4
1 ੧ ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਫੇਰ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਨੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਸਤਾਇਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੰਝੂ ਵਗਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਨੇਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
and to return: again I and to see: see [obj] all [the] oppression which to make: do underneath: under [the] sun and behold tears [the] oppression and nothing to/for them to be sorry: comfort and from hand: themselves to oppress them strength and nothing to/for them to be sorry: comfort
and to praise I [obj] [the] to die which/that already to die from [the] alive which they(masc.) alive still [to]
3 ੩ ਪਰ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹੁਣੇ ਤੱਕ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਦਾ ਭੈੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
and pleasant from two their [obj] which still not to be which not to see: see [obj] [the] deed [the] bad: evil which to make: do underneath: under [the] sun
4 ੪ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਫੱਕਣਾ ਹੈ।
and to see: see I [obj] all trouble and [obj] all skill [the] deed: work for he/she/it jealousy man: anyone from neighbor his also this vanity and longing spirit: breath
[the] fool to embrace [obj] hand his and to eat [obj] flesh his
pleasant fullness palm quietness from fullness palm trouble and longing spirit: breath
and to return: again I and to see: see vanity underneath: under [the] sun
8 ੮ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਭਰਾ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਧੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅੱਖ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦੀ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ? ਇਹ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ।
there one and nothing second also son: child and brother: male-sibling nothing to/for him and nothing end to/for all trouble his also (eye his *Q(K)*) not to satisfy riches and to/for who? I laborious and to lack [obj] soul: myself my from welfare also this vanity and task bad: harmful he/she/it
pleasant [the] two from [the] one which there to/for them wages pleasant in/on/with trouble their
10 ੧੦ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਣ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਹਾਏ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਡਿੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੇ!
that if: except if: except to fall: fall [the] one to arise: raise [obj] companion his and to/for woe! him [the] one which/that to fall: fall and nothing second to/for to arise: raise him
also if to lie down: lay down two and to warm to/for them and to/for one how? to warm
12 ੧੨ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਹਰੀ ਰੱਸੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਟੁੱਟਦੀ।
and if to prevail him [the] one [the] two to stand: stand before him and [the] thread [the] to do three not in/on/with haste to tear
13 ੧੩ ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੇ, ਇੱਕ ਦੀਨ ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਜੁਆਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ,
pleasant youth poor and wise from king old and fool which not to know to/for to warn still
for from house: home [the] to bind to come out: come to/for to reign for also in/on/with royalty his to beget be poor
15 ੧੫ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੂਜੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
to see: see [obj] all [the] alive [the] to go: walk underneath: under [the] sun with [the] youth [the] second which to stand: stand underneath: instead him
16 ੧੬ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੱਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ ਨਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਫੱਕਣਾ ਹੈ!
