And we afterwards learned, that the island was called Melita.
2 ੨ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਦਯਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਝੜੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਠੰਡ ਸੀ!
And the barbarians who inhabited it, showed us many kindnesses. And they kindled a fire, and called us all to warm ourselves, because of the great rain and cold at that time.
3 ੩ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੱਕੜੀਆਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਈਆਂ, ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੱਪ ਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਬੜ ਗਿਆ!
And Paul took up a bundle of fagots and laid them on the fire: and a viper, driven by the heat, came out of them, and bit his hand.
4 ੪ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ, ਉਸ ਕੀੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਲਮਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖੂਨੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਪਰ ਨਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ!
And when the barbarians saw it hanging on his hand, they said: Doubtless, this man is a murderer; whom, though delivered from the sea, justice will not suffer to live.
But Paul shook his hand, and threw the viper into the fire: and he received no harm.
6 ੬ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਡੀਕਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੁਣੇ ਸੁੱਜ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾਂ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਗੜਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਹੈ!
And the barbarians expected, that he would suddenly swell, and fall dead on the ground. And when they had looked a long time, and saw that he received no harm; they changed their language, and said, that he was a god.
7 ੭ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ, ਉਸ ਟਾਪੂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਪੁਬਲਿਯੁਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਸੀ। ਸੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਡੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ!
And there were lands in that quarter, belonging to a man named Publius, who was the chief man of the island: and he cheerfully received us at his house three days.
8 ੮ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਪੁਬਲਿਯੁਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੁਖ਼ਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਰੋੜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ, ਸੋ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ!
And the father of Publius was sick with a fever and dysentery. And Paul went in to him, and prayed, and laid his hand on him, and healed him.
And after this event, others also in the island who were sick, came to him and were healed.
10 ੧੦ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਦਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੋੜ ਸੀ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੱਦ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ।
And they honored us with great honors: and when we left the place, they supplied us with necessaries.
11 ੧੧ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿਕੰਦਰਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਉਸਕੂਰੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਿਆਲ ਇਸ ਟਾਪੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ!
And after three months we departed, sailing in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the island, and which bore the signal of the Twins.
And we came to the city of Syracuse; and remained there three days.
13 ੧੩ ਫੇਰ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਘੁੰਮ ਕੇ ਰੇਗਿਯੁਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਪੌਣ ਵਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਪਤਿਯੁਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ।
And from there we made a circuit, and arrived at the city Rhegium. And, after one day, the south wind blew favorably for us, and in two days we came to Puteoli, a city of Italy.
14 ੧੪ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਿੰਨਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਰਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਰੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਏ!
And there we found brethren; and they invited us, and we remained with them seven days: and then we proceeded towards Rome.
15 ੧੫ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਡੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਅੱਪੀਫੋਰੁਮ ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਸਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ! ਤਾਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਪਾਈ ।
And the brethren there, hearing of our approach, came out to meet us as far as the village called Appii Forum, and as far as the Three Taverns. And when Paul saw them, he gave thanks to God, and was encouraged.
16 ੧੬ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਰੋਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਲੱਗ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੋਈ ।
And we went on to Rome. And the centurion allowed Paul to reside where he pleased, with a soldier who guarded him.
17 ੧੭ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਰ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਕੈਦੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ!
And after three days, Paul sent and called for the principal Jews. And when they were assembled, he said to them: Men, my brethren, although I had in nothing risen up against the people or the law of my fathers, I was at Jerusalem delivered over in bonds to the Romans:
and they, when they had examined me, were disposed to release me, because they found in me no offence deserving death.
19 ੧੯ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਇਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬੋਲਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੈਸਰ ਦੀ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੌਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ!
And, as the Jews withstood me, I was compelled to utter an appeal to Caesar; but not because I had any thing of which to accuse the people of my nation.
20 ੨੦ ਸੋ ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਿੰਨਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੋ ਅਤੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਜਕੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ!
For this reason I sent for you to come, that I might see you, and might state these things to you: for it is on account of the hope of Israel, that I am bound with this chain.
21 ੨੧ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿ ਨਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਆਈ, ਨਾ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਝ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਦੱਸੀਂ!
They said to him: We have received no epistle from Judaea against thee; and none of the brethren who have come from Jerusalem, have told us any evil thing of thee.
22 ੨੨ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹੋ ਚੰਗਾ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਣੀਏ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਪੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।
But we are desirous to hear from thee what thou thinkest; for this doctrine, we know, is not received by any one.
23 ੨੩ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ, ਤਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਬੂਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ!
And they appointed him a day; and many assembled, and came to him at his lodgings. And he explained to them respecting the kingdom of God, testifying and persuading them concerning Jesus, out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
And some of them assented to his discourses, and others did not assent.
25 ੨੫ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ ਤਾਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਠੀਕ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ,
And they went out from him, disagreeing among themselves. And Paul addressed to them this speech: Well did the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of Isaiah the prophet, speak concerning your fathers,
26 ੨੬ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋਗੇ ਪਰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੋਂਗੇ; ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੇਖੋਗੇ ਪਰ ਬੁਝੋਗੇ ਨਾ,
saying: Go unto this people, and say to them, Hearing ye will hear, and will not understand; and ye will see, and will not comprehend.
27 ੨੭ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮੋਟਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਚਾ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਲਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਆਉਣ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰਾਂ ।
For the heart of this people is stupefied, and their hearing they have made heavy, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and be converted unto me, and I should forgive them.
Therefore, be this known to you, that to the Gentiles is this redemption of God sent: and, moreover, they will hear it.
And when he had thus said, the Jews retired; and there were great disputations among them.
30 ੩੦ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਰਾਏ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ!
And Paul hired a house, at his own cost, and resided in it two years; and there he received all that came to him.
31 ੩੧ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੋਕ-ਟੋਕ ਅੱਤ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਪਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ!
And he preached concerning the kingdom of God, and taught boldly concerning our Lord Jesus Messiah, without hinderance. Completion of the Acts of the blessed Legates; that is, their Histories.
