2 ਰਾਜਿਆਂ 17
1 ੧ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਹਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਵੇਂ ਸਾਲ ਏਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ, ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨੌਂ ਸਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, the reign of Hoshea son of Elah began. He ruled in Samaria over Israel for nine years.
2 ੨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੈੜਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਨ।
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
3 ੩ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ਲਮਨਸਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Shalmaneser king of Assyria attacked him, and Hoshea became his servant and brought him tribute.
4 ੪ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਝ ਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਦੂਤ ਭੇਜੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋਲ ਉਹ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਨਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬੰਦੀਖ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then the king of Assyria realized that Hoshea had been plotting against him, for Hoshea had sent messengers to So king of Egypt; also, he offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. So the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.
5 ੫ ਤਦ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰੀਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
Then the king of Assyria attacked throughout all the land, and attacked Samaria and besieged it for three years.
6 ੬ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਦੇ ਨੌਵੇਂ ਸਾਲ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਲਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇ ਗੋਜ਼ਾਨ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਹਾਬੋਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria. He put them in Halah, at the Habor River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 ੭ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਿਆ।
This captivity happened because the people of Israel had sinned against Yahweh their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. The people had been worshiping other gods
8 ੮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣਿਓਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਸਨ।
and walking in the practices of the nations whom Yahweh had driven out before the people of Israel, and in the practices of the kings of Israel that they had done.
9 ੯ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਪਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ, ਜੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੰਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਲਏ।
The people of Israel did secretly—against Yahweh their God—things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the watchtower to the fortress.
10 ੧੦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਉੱਚੇ ਟਿੱਲੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਰੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
They also set up stone pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
11 ੧੧ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣਿਓਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਭੜਕਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ, ਜੋ ਭੈੜੇ ਸਨ
There they burned incense in all the high places, as the nations had done, those whom Yahweh had carried away before them. The Israelites performed wicked things to provoke Yahweh to anger;
they worshiped idols, about which Yahweh had said to them, “You will not do this thing.”
13 ੧੩ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਭੈੜਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਮੇਰਿਆਂ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨੋ।
Yet Yahweh had testified to Israel and to Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, and be careful to keep all the law I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”
14 ੧੪ ਤਦ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਢੀਠ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
But they would not listen; instead they were very stubborn like their fathers who did not trust in Yahweh their God.
15 ੧੫ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਓਹ ਨੇ ਰੱਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਕੰਮੀਆਂ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਨਿਕੰਮੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਗਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ।
They rejected his statutes and the covenant that he had made with their ancestors, and the covenant decrees that he had given to them. They followed useless practices and they themselves became useless. They followed the pagan nations who were around them, those that Yahweh had commanded them not to imitate.
16 ੧੬ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਢਾਲੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਮੂਰਤਾਂ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਦੋ ਵੱਛੇ ਬਣਾਏ, ਇੱਕ ਲੱਕੜ ਦਾ ਬੁੱਤ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਆਲ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
They ignored all the commandments of Yahweh their God. They made cast metal figures of two calves to worship. They made an Asherah pole, and they worshiped all the stars of the heavens and Baal.
17 ੧੭ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਛ ਪੁਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਜਾਦੂਗਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿੱਕ ਗਏ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਰੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਭੜਕਾਇਆ।
They made their sons and daughters pass through the fire, they used divination and enchantments, they sold themselves to do that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and they provoked him to anger.
18 ੧੮ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਅੱਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੋਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਛੁੱਟਿਆ।
Therefore Yahweh was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. There was no one left but the tribe of Judah alone.
19 ੧੯ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ।
Even Judah did not keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, and they followed the practices that Israel had done.
20 ੨੦ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਅੰਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵੀਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਟੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
So Yahweh rejected all the descendants of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hand of those who would take the possession as spoil, until he had cast them out of his sight.
21 ੨੧ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਰਾਜ - ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਲੱਗ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਬਾਟ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾਇਆ।
He tore Israel from the royal line of David, and they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king. Jeroboam drove Israel away from following Yahweh and made them commit a great sin.
22 ੨੨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਜੋ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ।
The people of Israel followed all the sins of Jeroboam and they did not depart from them,
23 ੨੩ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਹੈ।
so Yahweh removed Israel from his sight, as he had said through all his servants the prophets that he would. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria, and it is this way to this present day.
24 ੨੪ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਲ, ਕੂਥਾਹ, ਅੱਵਾ, ਹਮਾਥ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਰਵਇਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ, ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਵਸਾਇਆ। ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸ ਗਏ।
The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon and from Kuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria in place of the people of Israel. They took over Samaria and lived in its cities.
25 ੨੫ ਤਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਹਿਲ ਉੱਥੇ ਵੱਸੇ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਭੇਜੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
It happened at the beginning of their residence there that they did not honor Yahweh. So Yahweh sent lions among them which killed some of them.
26 ੨੬ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀਆਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਭੇਜੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations that you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the practices required by the god of the land. So he has sent lions among them, and, see, the lions are killing people there because they do not know the practices required by the god of the land.”
27 ੨੭ ਤਦ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਆਏ ਹੋ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਓ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੱਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ।
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, “Take one of the priests there whom you brought from there, and let him go and live there, and let him teach them the practices required by the god of the land.”
28 ੨੮ ਤਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਸਨ, ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਆ ਕੇ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel; he taught them how they should honor Yahweh.
29 ੨੯ ਤਦ ਵੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੱਸ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਹਰ ਕੌਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Every ethnic group made gods of their own, and put them in the high places that the Samaritans had made—every ethnic group in the cities where they lived.
30 ੩੦ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁੱਕੋਥ ਬਨੋਥ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੂਥ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੇਰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਾਥ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਸ਼ੀਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
The people of Babylon made Succoth Benoth; the people of Kuthah made Nergal; the people of Hamath made Ashima;
31 ੩੧ ਅੱਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਿਬਹਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਤਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਰਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਦਰਮਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਮਲਕ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਸਫ਼ਰਵਇਮ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਸਨ, ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak. The Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelek and Anammelek, the gods of the Sepharvites.
32 ੩੨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਪਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਣਾ ਲਏ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
They also honored Yahweh, and appointed from among themselves priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the temples at the high places.
33 ੩੩ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਂਦੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
They honored Yahweh and also worshiped their own gods, in the customs of the nations from among whom they had been taken away.
34 ੩੪ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
To this day they persist in their old customs. They neither honor Yahweh, nor do they follow the statutes, decrees, the law, or the commandments that Yahweh gave to the people of Jacob—whom he named Israel—
35 ੩੫ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਨੇਮ ਬੱਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਓ, ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਓ, ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਿਓ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਓ।
and with whom Yahweh had made a covenant and commanded them, “You will not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor worship them, nor sacrifice to them.
36 ੩੬ ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਲ ਅਤੇ ਵਧਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਬਾਂਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਓ।
But Yahweh, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and a raised arm, is the one you must honor; it is to him that you will prostrate yourselves, and it is to him that you will sacrifice.
37 ੩੭ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ, ਆਗਿਆਵਾਂ, ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਕਮਨਾਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਲਿਖੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਓ।
The statutes and the decrees, the law and the commandments that he wrote for you, you will keep them forever. So you must not fear other gods,
and the covenant that I have made with you, you will not forget; neither will you honor other gods.
But Yahweh your God is who you will honor. He will rescue you from the might of your enemies.”
They would not listen, because they continued to do what they had done in the past.
41 ੪੧ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਵੀ ਮੰਨਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਘੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਮੂਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪੋਤੇ ਵੀ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
So these nations feared Yahweh and they also worshiped their carved figures, and their children did the same—as did their children's children. They continue to do what their ancestors did, up to this day.
