2 ਇਤਿਹਾਸ 24
1 ੧ ਜਦ ਯੋਆਸ਼ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਸਾਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀਬਯਾਹ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਦੀ ਸੀ
Joash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Zibiah, of Beersheba.
Joash did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the cohen.
Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he became the father of sons and daughters.
It happened after this, that Joash intended to restore the house of the LORD.
5 ੫ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ-ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਰੰਮਤ ਲਈ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ
He gathered together the cohanim and the Levites, and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Judah, and gather money to repair the house of your God from all Israel from year to year. See that you expedite this matter." However the Levites did not do it right away.
6 ੬ ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਮੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਖੀ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਮੂਸਾ ਦਾ ਮਸੂਲ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਕਰਨ?
The king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, "Why haven't you required of the Levites to bring in the tax of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the assembly of Israel, out of Judah and out of Jerusalem, for the tent of the testimony?"
7 ੭ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਔਰਤ ਅਥਲਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਘ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਆਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ
For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up God's house; and they also gave all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD to the Baals.
8 ੮ ਸੋ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ
So the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it outside at the gate of the house of the LORD.
9 ੯ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੌਂਡੀ ਪਿਟਵਾਈ ਕਿ ਲੋਕੀ ਉਹ ਮਸੂਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਲਿਆਉਣ
They made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in for the LORD the tax that Moses the servant of God laid on Israel in the wilderness.
10 ੧੦ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕੀ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ
And all the leaders and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and threw it into the chest, until it was full.
11 ੧੧ ਜਦ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਕਰਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪੁੱਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਰਕਮ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਰਖਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਕਮ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ
It was so, that whenever the chest was brought to the king's officers by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the chief cohen's official came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
12 ੧੨ ਫੇਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਖਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਲੁਹਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਠਠੇਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਰੰਮਤ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ
The king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD; and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of the LORD, and also such as worked iron and bronze to repair the house of the LORD.
13 ੧੩ ਸੋ ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਲੱਗ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
So the workmen worked, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands, and they set up God's house in its state, and strengthened it.
14 ੧੪ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਏ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਲਈ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਬਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
When they had made an end, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, of which were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels with which to minister and to offer, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. They offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 ੧੫ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਤੇ ਸਮਾ ਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਚਲਾਣਾ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਸੌ ਤੀਹਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ
But Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died; one hundred thirty years old was he when he died.
16 ੧੬ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਲਈ ਨੇਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ
They buried him in the City of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.
17 ੧੭ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਣੀ
Now after the death of Jehoiada the leaders of Judah came and paid homage to the king. And the king listened to them.
18 ੧੮ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਟੁੰਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਭੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਆ ਪਿਆ
They forsook the house of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols: and wrath came on Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltiness.
19 ੧੯ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵੱਲ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੰਨ ਨਾ ਲਾਇਆ
Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again to the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.
20 ੨੦ ਤਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਿਆ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
The Ruach of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the cohen; and he stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God, 'Why do you disobey the commandments of the LORD, so that you can't prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you.'"
They conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.
22 ੨੨ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਆਸ਼ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਯਾਦ ਨਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਵੇ!।
Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. When he died, he said, "May the LORD look at it, and repay it."
23 ੨੩ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜਾਈ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉੱਮਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਾਲ ਲੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਦੰਮਿਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ
It happened at the end of the year, that the army of the Arameans came up against him. And they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the leaders of the people from among the people, and sent all their spoil to the king in Damascus.
24 ੨੪ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਜੱਥਾ ਹੀ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
For the army of the Arameans came with a small company of men; and the LORD delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. So they executed judgment on Joash.
25 ੨੫ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਗਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਗੀ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੂਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਿਸਤਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਤਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਪਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਦੱਬਿਆ
When they were departed for him (for they left him very sick), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the son of Jehoiada the cohen, and killed him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the City of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.
26 ੨੬ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਹ ਹਨ, ਅੰਮੋਨਣ ਸ਼ਿਮਆਥ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਾਬਾਦ, ਮੋਆਬਣ ਸ਼ਿਮਰੀਥ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਜ਼ਾਬਾਦ
These are those who conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess.
