1 ਸਮੂਏਲ 25
1 ੧ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਸੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਮਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਾਨ ਦੀ ਉਜਾੜ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
Samuel died. Everyone in Israel gathered to mourn for him, and they buried him at his home in Ramah. David left and went to the Desert of Paran.
2 ੨ ਉੱਥੇ ਮਾਓਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਕਰਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਭੇਡ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਰਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
A man from Maon was very wealthy. He had property in Carmel and owned one thousand goats and three thousand sheep. He was in Carmel shearing them.
3 ੩ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੂਪਵੰਤੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡਾ ਬੋਲ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਟਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਾਲੇਬ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।
The man's name was Nabal, and his wife's name was Abigail. She was a wise and beautiful woman, but her husband was cruel and treated people badly. He was a descendant of Caleb.
David was in the wilderness, and he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep.
5 ੫ ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਦਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਘੱਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਕੋਲ ਕਰਮਲ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਪੁੱਛੋ।
So David sent ten of his young men and told them, “Go and see Nabal at Carmel. Greet him in my name, and say hello from me.
6 ੬ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਆਖੋ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ, ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਨ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ!
Tell him, ‘I wish you a long life! Peace to you and your family, and may everything you do prosper.
7 ੭ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਜੜੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਉਹ ਕਰਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਆਚਿਆ।
Now I've heard that you are busy shearing. When your shepherds were with us, we didn't mistreat them, and nothing belonging to them was stolen all the time they were in Carmel.
8 ੮ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣਗੇ ਸੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਇਹ ਜੁਆਨ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਯਾ ਜੋਗ ਹੋਣ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਭਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਆਵੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ।
Check with your men and they'll confirm it. Please be kind to my men, especially since we've come on this day of celebration. Please give whatever food you can to us and to your good friend David.’”
9 ੯ ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਚੁੱਪ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ।
David's young men arrived, gave Nabal this message from David, and waited for his reply.
10 ੧੦ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਭਲਾ, ਦਾਊਦ ਹੈ ਕੌਣ ਅਤੇ ਯੱਸੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕੌਣ? ਅੱਜ-ਕੱਲ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨੱਠ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
“Who does this ‘David, son of Jesse’ think he is?” Nabal replied. “Nowadays there are many servants on the run from their masters!
11 ੧੧ ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਤਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਹਨ?
Why should I take the bread and water I've supplied, and the meat I've slaughtered for my shearers, and hand it over to these strangers? I don't even know where they're from!”
So David's men turned around and went back the way they came. When they got back they told David everything Nabal had said.
13 ੧੩ ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸੱਭੋ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੋ। ਸੋ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਬੰਨ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਬੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਸੌ ਜੁਆਨ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਸੌ ਨਿੱਕ ਸੁੱਕ ਕੋਲ ਠਹਿਰੇ।
“Everyone, put on your swords!” David ordered. They all put on their swords, and David did too. About four hundred followed David, while two hundred remained behind to guard their gear.
14 ੧੪ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਕੋਲ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਲਈ ਦੂਤ ਘੱਲੇ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝਿੜਕਿਆ।
In the meantime one of Nabal's men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, “David sent some messengers from the wilderness to bring greetings to our master, but he only insulted them.
15 ੧੫ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਡੀ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਦਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਉੱਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਸਾਡਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਆਚਿਆ।
David's men were always very good to us and they never mistreated us. All the time we were out in the fields with them nothing was stolen from us.
16 ੧੬ ਸਗੋਂ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਚਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੰਧ ਵਰਗੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।
They were like a protective wall to us, both day and night, during the whole time we were with them looking after the sheep.
17 ੧੭ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਸਮਝੋ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰੋ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਕਰੋਗੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਦੀ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
You should know what happened and consider what you should do about it. Disaster is about to strike our master and his whole family, but he's so obnoxious no one can talk sense into him!”
18 ੧੮ ਤਦ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਫੁਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਠੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਸੌ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਮਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਮੈਅ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਰਿੰਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜ ਟੋਪੇ ਭੁੰਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੌ ਗੁੱਛਾ ਸੌਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਸੌ ਪਿੰਨੀ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਧਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੱਦ ਲਿਆ।
Abigail quickly gathered together two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five sheep already slaughtered, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred raisin cakes, and two hundred fig cakes, and then loaded everything on donkeys.
19 ੧੯ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੁਰੋ। ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਗਰ-ਮਗਰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ।
She told her men, “Go on ahead. I'll follow you.” But she didn't say anything to her husband Nabal.
20 ੨੦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਗਧੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਹਿੰਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਈ।
As Abigail was riding her donkey through a mountain valley, she saw David and his men descending towards her, and she met them.
21 ੨੧ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਲ ਇਹ ਦਾ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਰੱਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਗੁਆਚਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
David had just been complaining, “So much for my protecting everything that belonged to this man in the wilderness! Nothing at all was stolen from him, and yet what does he do? Pay me back evil for good!
22 ੨੨ ਸੋ ਜੇ ਕਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਕੰਧ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੂਤ੍ਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ।
May God punish me very severely if I leave even a single one of his men alive by morning!”
23 ੨੩ ਜਦ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਗਧੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਉਤਰ ਕੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਰਨੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ।
When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off the donkey, and bowed before him, her face to the ground.
24 ੨੪ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਲੱਗੀ, ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ, ਇਹ ਦੋਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਆਖਣ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ ਲਓ।
Falling at his feet in respect, she said, “Sir, I accept full responsibility for what's happened. Please listen to what I, your servant, have to say.
25 ੨੫ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤਰਲੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਇਸ ਬੁਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਲ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ ਤਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹਾਂ ਸੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਵੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
Please don't concern yourself with this worthless man Nabal. His name means ‘fool,’ and he is really foolish! As for me, your servant, I didn't even see the men you sent.
26 ੨੬ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ, ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਲਹੂ ਵਗਾਉਣੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਲੇ ਲੈਣੋਂ ਹਟਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋਣ!
Now, sir, as the Lord lives and as you live, the Lord has kept you from shedding blood and from taking your own revenge. Sir, may your enemies and those who want to do you harm be like Nabal.
27 ੨੭ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਭੇਟ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਿਆਈ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
Please accept this present that I, your servant, have brought to you, sir, and give it to your men.
28 ੨੮ ਦਯਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਕਾ ਘਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਬਣਾਵੇਗਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ ਲੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭੀ।
Please forgive any offense that I, your servant, have committed, for the Lord is sure to set up a dynasty for you that will last for a long time, because you, sir, fight the battles of the Lord. Wickedness should not be found in you as long as you live.
29 ੨੯ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗਣ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜੀਉਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਠੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਲਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੋਪੀਏ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ।
If anyone pursues you and tries to kill you, then your life will remain bound up with those the Lord your God looks after, safe in his care. But he will throw away the lives of your enemies like stones from a sling.
30 ੩੦ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਖਣ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਲਿਆਈਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਛੱਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਠਹਿਰਾਵੇ।
So when the Lord has done for you, sir, everything good he promised, and has made you ruler over Israel,
31 ੩੧ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਔਖ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਲਹੂ ਵਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਟਹਿਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰੋ।
you won't have feelings of remorse or a guilty conscience over unnecessary bloodshed or of taking your own revenge. And when the Lord has done these good things for you, sir, please remember me, your maidservant.”
32 ੩੨ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
Then David said to Abigail, “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you to meet me today!
33 ੩੩ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੱਤ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲਹੂ ਵਗਾਉਣੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾਇਆ।
May you be rewarded for your wise decisions, for preventing me from shedding blood today and taking my own revenge.
34 ੩੪ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੀ ਮੁੱਚੀ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾਇਆ ਜੇ ਕਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਤੱਕ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਦਾ!
On the contrary, as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you hadn't rushed to meet me, then definitely not a single one of Nabal's men would have been left alive by dawn.”
35 ੩੫ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਈ ਸੀ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ। ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਰਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ।
David accepted from Abigail what she had brought him, and told her, “You may go home in peace, because I agree with your advice and grant your request.”
36 ੩੬ ਤਦ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੱਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਜੱਗ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦਾ ਜੀਅ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਸੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੋ ਪੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਭਾਤ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਥੋੜਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ।
When Abigail got back home to Nabal, he was in the house, partying like a king. He was feeling very merry, and he was very drunk. So she didn't tell him anything until the morning.
37 ੩੭ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਪਰਭਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦਾ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੱਥਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
When Nabal had sobered up the next morning, his wife told him what had happened. When he heard what she had to say he had a heart attack and was paralyzed.
About ten days later the Lord struck Nabal down and he died.
39 ੩੯ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜੋ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਨਾਬਾਲ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ। ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਘੱਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Praise the Lord who has supported me against Nabal's insult and has kept me from doing evil. For the Lord made Nabal's wickedness fall back on himself.” Then David sent a message to Abigail, asking for her to marry him.
40 ੪੦ ਜਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਕੋਲ ਕਰਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਲੈ ਜਾਈਏ।
When David's men arrived at Carmel, they said to Abigail, “David has sent us to you to bring you back to become his wife.”
41 ੪੧ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਉੱਠੀ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਰਨੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲੀ, ਵੇਖੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰਨੀ ਠਹਿਰੇ।
She stood up, then bowed down low, and said, “I am David's maidservant. I am prepared to serve and to wash the feet of my master's servants.”
42 ੪੨ ਅਤੇ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਨੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਗਧੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਬੈਠੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੰਜ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਲੈ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰ ਪਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਬਣੀ।
Abigail quickly got on a donkey and, with her five female servants, went back with David's men and became his wife.
David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel. So they both were his wives.
However, Saul had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Paltiel, son of Laish. He was from Gallim.
