1 ਇਤਿਹਾਸ 17
1 ੧ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਨਾਥਾਨ ਨਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਦਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।”
And it came to pass, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah dwells under curtains.
2 ੨ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।
And Nathan said to David, Do all that is in thy heart, for God is with thee.
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
Go and tell David my servant, Thus says Jehovah, Thou shall not build for me a house to dwell in.
5 ੫ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਅੱਜ ਤੱਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਤੰਬੂ ਤੋਂ ਤੰਬੂ ਅਤੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਡੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
6 ੬ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ-ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਭਲਾ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਦਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਭਵਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ?”
In all places wherein I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, Why have ye not built for me a house of cedar?
7 ੭ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਕਿ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਭੇਡਾਂ-ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਚਾਰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
Now therefore thus thou shall say to my servant David, Thus says Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, that thou should be prince over my people Israel.
8 ੮ ਜਿੱਥੇ-ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਗਿਆ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਨਾਮੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ,
And I have been with thee wherever thou have gone, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee. And I will make thee a name like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.
9 ੯ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਥਾਂ ਠਹਿਰਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਅਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਕਦੀ ਇੱਧਰ-ਉੱਧਰ ਨਾ ਭਟਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਫੇਰ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ,
And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. Neither shall the sons of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first,
10 ੧੦ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਬਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਵੇਗਾ।
and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I will subdue all thine enemies. Moreover I tell thee that Jehovah will build for thee a house.
11 ੧੧ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਿਰ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ,
And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will set up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons. And I will establish his kingdom.
He shall build for me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.
13 ੧੩ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਯਾ ਹਟਾ ਨਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਲਈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੀ,
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. And I will not take my loving kindness away from him as I took it from him who was before thee.
14 ੧੪ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਸਥਿਰ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹੇਗੀ।”
But I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
16 ੧੬ ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹਜ਼ੂਰ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਕੌਣ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਕੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਐਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ?
Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah. And he said, Who am I, O Jehovah God, and what is my house, that thou have brought me thus far?
17 ੧੭ ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੂਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਂ!”
And this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God. But thou have spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Jehovah God.
18 ੧੮ ਦਾਊਦ ਉਸ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਆਖੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
What can David say yet more to thee concerning the honor which is done to thy servant? For thou know thy servant.
19 ੧੯ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ
O Jehovah, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, thou have wrought all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
20 ੨੦ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੇਰੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
O Jehovah, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21 ੨੧ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਕੌਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਪ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਬਣਾਵੇ, ਵੱਡੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਤੇ ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਚਾ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆਇਆ, ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And what one nation on the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make thee a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before thy people whom thou redeemed out of Egypt?
22 ੨੨ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਬਣਿਆ।
For thy people Israel thou made thine own people forever. And thou, Jehovah, became their God.
23 ੨੩ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰ
And now, O Jehovah, let the word that thou have spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as thou have spoken.
24 ੨੪ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਜੋ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ, ਹਾਂ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹੇ
And let thy name be established and magnified forever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel, and the house of David thy servant is established before thee.
25 ੨੫ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਵੇਂਗਾ, ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
For thou, O my God, have revealed to thy servant that thou will build him a house. Therefore thy servant has found in his heart to pray before thee.
And now, O Jehovah, thou are God, and have promised this good thing to thy servant,
27 ੨੭ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਰਹੇ।
and now it has pleased thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Jehovah, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.
