Sefaaniyaa 2
1 Yaa saba qaanii hin qabne, walitti qabamaa; walitti qabamaa;
Rally yourselves together and gather, unashamed nation—
2 utuu yeroon murtaaʼe sun gaʼee guyyaan sun akkuma habaqiitti isin hin haxaaʼin, utuu aariin Waaqayyoo bobaʼaan sun isinitti hin dhufin, utuu guyyaan dheekkamsa Waaqayyoo isinitti hin dhufin walitti qabamaa.
before the decree takes effect and that day passes like the chaff, before the fierce anger of Yahweh's wrath comes upon you, before the day of the wrath of Yahweh comes upon you.
3 Isin garraamonni lafaa kanneen waan inni ajaju hojjettan hundi Waaqayyoon barbaaddadhaa. Qajeelummaa barbaadaa; gad of qabiisa barbaadaa; isin guyyaa dheekkamsa Waaqayyootti ni golbomamtu taʼaatii.
Seek Yahweh, all you humble people on earth who obey his decrees! Seek righteousness. Seek humility, and perhaps you will be protected in the day of Yahweh's wrath.
4 Gaazaan duwwaa hafti; Ashqaloon immoo ni onti. Sabni Ashdood guyyuma Saafaadhaan ariʼamee baʼa; Eqroon immoo ni buqqifamti.
For Gaza will be abandoned, and Ashkelon will turn into a devastation. They will drive out Ashdod at noon, and they will uproot Ekron!
5 Yaa Kereetota qarqara galaanaa jiraattan, isiniif wayyoo; yaa Kanaʼaan, biyya Filisxeemotaa, dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee sitti dhufeera; “Ani sin barbadeessa; namni tokko iyyuu hin hafu.”
Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Kerethites! Yahweh has spoken against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines. I will destroy you until no inhabitant remains.
6 Biyyi qarqara galaanaa, iddoon Kaliitonni jiraatan, iddoo tiksoonni jiraatanii fi gola bushaayee taʼa.
So the seacoast will become pastures for shepherds and for sheep pens.
7 Innis handhuuraa hambaa mana Yihuudaa taʼa; isaan achitti lafa dheedaa argatu. Isaan galgala galgala mana Ashqaloon keessa ciciisu. Waaqayyo Waaqni isaanii isaan tiksa; boojuu isaaniis ni deebisaaf.
The coastal region will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah, who will shepherd their flocks there. Their people will lie down in the evening in the houses of Ashkelon, for Yahweh their God will care for them and restore their fortunes.
8 “Ani arrabsoo Moʼaabii fi Qoosaa Amoonotaa, warra saba koo arrabsanii fi biyya isaanii doorsisan sanaa dhagaʼeera.
“I have heard the taunts of Moab and the reviling of the people of Ammon when they taunted my people and violated their borders.
9 Kanaafuu akkuma ani dhugumaan jiraataa taʼe sana” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu, Waaqni Israaʼel; “Moʼaab dhugumaan akkuma Sodoom, Amoononnis akka Gomoraa, iddoo aramaatii fi boolla soogiddaa, lafa bara baraan one ni taʼu. Hambaan uummata kootii isaan saamu; warri saba koo keessaa badii jalaa baʼan biyya isaanii ni dhaalu.”
Therefore, as I live—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel— Moab will become like Sodom, and the people of Ammon like Gomorrah; a place of nettles and a salt pit, deserted forever. But the remnant of my people will plunder them, and the remainder of my nation will take possession of them.”
10 Kun gatii isaan of tuulummaa isaaniitiif argatanii dha; isaan saba Waaqayyoo Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu arrabsanii itti qoosaniiruutii.
This will happen to Moab and Ammon because of their pride, since they taunted and mocked the people of Yahweh of hosts.
11 Waaqayyo yeroo waaqota biyyattii hunda barbadeessutti, akka malee isaan sodaachisa. Saboonni qarqara galaana hundaa irra jiraatan, namni biyya isaa keessa jiraatu hundinuus isa waaqeffata.
Then they will fear Yahweh, for he will taunt all the gods of the earth. Everyone will worship him, everyone from his own place, from every seashore.
12 “Yaa warra Itoophiyaa isinis goraadee kootiin ni gorraʼamtu.”
You Cushites also will be pierced by my sword,
13 Inni kaabatti harka ol fudhata; Asoorinis ni barbadeessa; Nanawwee guutumaan guutuutti ni onsa; akkuma gammoojjiitti gogsee hambisa.
and God's hand will attack the north and destroy Assyria, so that Nineveh will become an abandoned devastation, as dry as the desert.
14 Bushaayee fi loon, uumamawwan gosa hundaa achi ciciisu. Urunguu fi dhaddeen utubaa ishee irra boqotu. Sagaleen isaanii foddaawwan keessaan dhagaʼama; diigamni balbala isaanii dura jira; demdemoon birbirsaa hundinuu qullaa hafa.
Then herds will lie down there, every animal of the nations, both the desert owl and the screech owl will rest in the top of her columns. A call will sing out from the windows; rubble will be in the doorways; her carved cedar beams will be exposed.
15 Kun magaalaa of hin eegganne kan garuu nagumaan jiraattuu dha. Magaalaan kun, “Anuma qofa malee kan biraa na bira hin jiru” ofiin jette. Isheen akkam akkas ontee, iddoo bineensi bosonaa jiraatu taate! Namni ishee bira baʼee darbu hundinuu ni qoosa; harka isaas ni raasa.
This is the exultant city that lived without fear, that said in her heart, “I am, and nothing is my equal.” How she has become a horror, a place for beasts to lie down in. Everyone that passes by her will hiss and shake his fist at her.
