1 Utuu ati akka obboleessa koo kan harma haadha koo hodhee guddatee naa taatee! Ani yoon alatti si arge sin dhungadhan ture; namni tokko iyyuu na hin tuffatu.
Oh that some one would make thee as my brother that hath sucked my mother's breasts! should I then find thee without, I would kiss thee; and yet, people would not despise me.
2 Anis si dura deemee mana haadha koo ishee na barsiifte sanaatti sin geessa ture. Akka ati dhugduufis daadhii wayinii kan miʼeeffame cuunfaa roomaanii koos siifin kenna ture.
I would lead thee, I would bring thee into my mother's house, thou shouldst teach me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine, of the sweet juice of my pomegranate.
3 Harki isaa bitaa mataa koo jala jira; harki isaa mirgaa immoo na hammata.

I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, why will ye awaken, and why will ye excite my love, until it please [to come of itself]?—
5 Kan michuu isheetti irkattee gammoojjii keessaa ol dhufaa jirtu kun eenyu? Ishee Ani muka hudhaa jalatti sin kakaase; haati kee achitti si ulfoofte; achumattis ciniinsifattee si deesse.
Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her friend?—Under the apple-tree have I waked thee up; there thy mother brought thee forth; there brought thee forth she that bore thee.
6 Akkuma chaappaatti laphee kee irra, akkuma chaappaatti irree kee irra na kaaʼadhu; jaalalli akkuma duʼaa jabduudhaatii; hinaaffaan isaas akkuma awwaalaa hamaa dha. Inni akkuma ibidda balaliʼuu, akkuma arraba ibidda jabaa bobaʼa. (Sheol h7585)
Set me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm; for strong as death is love; violent like the nether world is jealousy; its heat is the heat of fire, a flame of God. (Sheol h7585)
7 Bishaan baayʼeen jaalala dhaamsuu hin dandaʼu; lagnis dhiqee isa balleessuu hin dandaʼu. Namni tokko qabeenya mana isaa hunda yoo jaalalaaf kenne qabeenyi sun guutumaan guutuutti ni tuffatama.
Many waters are not able to quench love, nor can the rivers flood it away: if a man were to give all the wealth of his house for love, men would utterly despise him.—
8 Nu obboleettii xinnoo tokko qabna; isheen guntuta iyyuu hin baafne. Guyyaa isheen heerumaaf kadhatamtutti nu obboleettii keenyaaf maal goona?
We have a little sister, and she hath yet no breasts: what shall we do for our sister on the day when she shall be spoken for?
9 Utuu isheen dallaa dhagaa taatee nu silaa gamoo meetii ishee irratti ijaarra ture. Utuu isheen balbala taatee nu silaa birbirsaan ishee marsina.
If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will enclose her with boards of cedar.—
10 Ani dallaa dhagaa ti; guntunni koos akkuma gamoo ti. Kanaafuu ani fuula isaa duratti akkuma nama nagaa fidu tokkootti nan ilaalaman ture.
I am a wall, and my breasts are like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favor.
11 Solomoon Baʼaal Haamoon keessaa iddoo dhaabaa wayinii qaba ture; innis iddoo dhaabaa wayinii ofii isaa qottuuwwanitti kiraa kennate. Tokkoon tokkoon isaaniis ija argatan irraa meetii saqilii kuma tokko fiduufii qabu ture.
Solomon had a vineyard at Ba'al-hamon; he had given up the vineyard unto the keepers; every one was to bring for its fruit a thousand pieces of silver.
12 Iddoon dhaabaa wayinii kootii, kanuma koo ti; yaa Solomoon, saqiliin kumni sun sumaaf; dhibbi lama immoo kan warra ija isaa eeganii ti.
My vineyard, which was mine, was before me: thine, O Solomon, be the thousand, and let two hundred be for those that keep its fruit.—
13 Yaa ishee iddoo biqiltuu keessa jiraattu, michoonni sagalee kee dhaggeeffachaa jiru; mee anis nan dhagaʼa!
“Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions listen for thy voice: oh let me hear it.”
14 Yaa michuu ko, dafii kottu; akka kuruphee yookaan akka korma gadamsaa kan gaara urgooftuu irra burraaquu taʼi.
Flee away, my friend, and be thou like the roebuck, or the fawn of the hinds, upon the mountain of spices.
