1 Egaa Yihuudii taʼuun faayidaa maalii qaba? Yookaan buʼaan dhagna qabaa maalii?
Then what advantage does the Jew have? And what is the benefit of circumcision?
2 Karaa hundaanuu buʼaa guddaa qaba! Jalqabatti dubbiin Waaqaa Yihuudootatti imaanaa kenname.
It is great in every way. First of all, the Jews were entrusted with revelation from God.
3 Isaan keessaa tokko tokko yoo hin amanin maal ree? Amantii dhabuun isaanii amanamummaa Waaqaa ni balleessaa?
For what if some Jews were without faith? Will their unbelief abolish God's faithfulness?
4 Gonkumaa hin taʼu! Namoonni hundinuu sobdoota, Waaqni immoo dhugaa qabeessa haa taʼu. Kunis akkuma, “Akka ati dubbii keetiin dhuga qabeessa taatuuf, yommuu murtiitti dhiʼaattuttis akka moʼattuuf” jedhamee barreeffamee dha.
May it never be. Instead, let God be found to be true, even though every man is a liar. As it has been written, “That you might be shown to be righteous in your words, and that you might prevail when you come into judgment.”
5 Yoo jalʼinni keenya qajeelina Waaqaa ifa baase garuu maal jenna ree? Waaqni dheekkamsa isaa nutti fiduun isaa qajeelina dhabeetii? Kanas ani akka namaattin dubbadha.
But if our unrighteousness shows the righteousness of God, what can we say? Can we say that God is unrighteous to bring his wrath upon us? (I am using a human argument.)
6 Gonkumaa hin taʼu! Utuu akkas taʼee silaa Waaqni akkamitti addunyaatti muruu dandaʼa ree?
May it never be! For then how would God judge the world?
7 Namni tokko, “Yoo soba kootiin dhuga qabeessummaan Waaqaa guddatee ulfinni isaas baayʼate maaliif hamma ammaatti akka cubbamaa tokkootti natti murama ree?” jedhee falma taʼa.
But if the truth of God through my lie provides abundant praise for him, why am I still being judged as a sinner?
8 Kunis isa namoonni tokko tokko, “Isaan, ‘Akka wanni gaariin dhufuuf hammina haa hojjennu?’ jedhu” jedhanii nurratti odeessisanii dha. Murtiin isaanitti muramus waanuma maluu dha!
Why not say, as we are falsely reported to say, and as some affirm that we say, “Let us do evil, so that good may come”? The judgment on them is just.
9 Egaa maal jenna ree? Nu Yihuudoonni warra kaan caallaa? Gonkumaa akkas miti! Akka Yihuudoonnii fi Giriikonni hundinuu cubbuu jala jiran duraan dursinee mirkaneessineerraatii.
What then? Are we excusing ourselves? Not at all. For we have already accused both Jews and Greeks, all of them, of being under sin.
10 Kunis kan akkana jedhamee barreeffamee dha: “Qajeelaan tokko iyyuu hin jiru; namni tokko iyyuu;
This is as it is written: “There is no one righteous, not one.
11 namni hubannaa qabu, kan Waaqa barbaadu tokko iyyuu hin jiru.
There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God.
12 Hundinuu dogoggoraniiru; walumatti warra faayidaa hin qabne taʼaniiru; namni waan gaarii hojjetu tokko iyyuu hin jiru; tokkumti iyyuu hin jiru.”
They have all turned away. They together have become useless. There is no one who does good, no, not even one.”
13 “Laagaan isaanii awwaala banamaa dha; arraba isaaniitiin ni gowwoomsu.” “Hadhaan buutii hidhii isaanii jala jira.”
“Their throat is an open grave. Their tongues have deceived. The poison of snakes is under their lips.”
14 “Afaan isaanii abaarsaa fi hadhaaʼummaan guutame.”
“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Miilli isaanii dhiiga dhangalaasuutti ariifata;
“Their feet are swift to pour out blood.
16 badiisaa fi gadadootu karaa isaanii irra jira;
Destruction and suffering are in their paths.
17 karaa nagaas hin beekan.”
These people have not known a way of peace.”
18 “Waaqa sodaachuun ija isaanii dura hin jiru.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Akka afaan hundi cufamuu fi akka addunyaan hundinuu murtii Waaqaa jala galuuf, wanni seerri jedhu hundinuu akka warra seera jala jiraniif dubbatu ni beekna.
Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to the ones who are under the law. This is in order that every mouth may be shut, and the whole world held accountable to God.
20 Kanaafis eenyu iyyuu seera eeguudhaan fuula Waaqaa duratti qajeelaa hin taʼu; seeratu cubbuu nu hubachiisaatii.
This is because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
21 Amma garuu qajeelummaan Waaqaan kennamu kan seeraan adda taʼe, kan Seerrii fi Raajonni dhugaa baʼaniif mulʼateera.
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known. It was witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
22 Qajeelummaan Waaqaa kun amantiidhaan warra Yesuus Kiristoositti amanan hundaaf kennama; nama wal caalchisuun hin jiru;
that is, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe. For there is no distinction.
23 sababii hundi isaanii iyyuu cubbuu hojjetaniif isaan ulfina Waaqaa irraa citaniiruutii;
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
24 isaanis ayyaana Waaqaa isa furama karaa Kiristoos Yesuusiin toluma kennameefiin qajeeltota taasifamaniiru.
and they are freely justified by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
25 Dhiiga isaatti amantii qabaachuudhaanis akka inni aarsaa araaraa taʼuuf Waaqni isa dhiʼeesse. Waan kana gochuun isaas cubbuu kanaan dura hojjetame utuu hin adabin waan obsaan bira darbeef qajeelina isaa argisiisuuf jedhee ti;
For God provided Christ Jesus as a propitiation through faith in his blood. He offered Christ as proof of his justice, because of his disregard of previous sins
26 Waaqni yeroo ammaa qajeelummaa isaa argisiisuu fi akka nama Yesuusitti amanus qajeelaa taʼuu isaa labsuuf waan kana godhe.
in his patience. This all happened for the demonstration of his righteousness at this present time. This was so he could prove himself just, and to show that he justifies anyone because of faith in Jesus.
27 Yoos of tuuluun eessa jira ree? Inni hafeera. Seera kamiin? Seera eeguudhaan moo? Miti; seera amantiitiin malee.
Where then is boasting? It is excluded. On what grounds? Of works? No, but on the grounds of faith.
28 Nu akka namni seera eeguudhaan utuu hin taʼin amantiidhaan qajeelaa taasifamu ni amannaatii.
We conclude then that a person is justified by faith without works of the law.
29 Waaqni Waaqa Yihuudootaa qofa moo? Inni Waaqa Namoota Ormaas mitii? Eeyyee, inni Waaqa Namoota Ormaatis;
Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not also the God of Gentiles? Yes, of Gentiles also.
30 egaa kan dhagna qabates amantiin, kan dhagna hin qabatinis amantiidhuma sanaan qajeelaa kan taasisu Waaquma tokkicha.
If, indeed, God is one, he will justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.
31 Yoos nu amantii kanaan seera sana cabsinaa ree? Gonkumaa akkas miti! Seericha ni cimsina malee.
Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! Instead, we uphold the law.
