1 Faarfannaa Guyyaa Sanbataa Faarfatamu. Waaqayyoon, galateeffachuun, yaa Waaqa Waan Hundaa Olii, maqaa keetiif faarfachuun gaarii dha.
Yahweh, it is good for people to thank you and to sing to praise you [MTY] who are greater than any other god.
2 Jaalala kee ganamaan, amanamummaa kees halkaniin labsuun,
It is good to proclaim every morning that you faithfully love us, and each night [to sing songs that] declare that you always do what you have promised to do,
3 kiraara ribuu kudhaniitiin, sagalee baganaatiinis labsuun gaarii dha.
accompanied by [musicians playing] harps that have ten strings, and by the sounds made by a lyre.
4 Yaa Waaqayyo, ati hojii keetiin na gammachiiftaatii; ani sababii hojii harka keetiitiif gammachuudhaan nan faarfadha.
Yahweh, you have caused me to be glad; I sing joyfully because of what you [SYN] have done.
5 Yaa Waaqayyo, hojiin kee akkam guddaa dha; yaadni kees akkam gad fagoo dha!
Yahweh, the things that you do are great! But it is difficult for us to understand [all] that you think.
6 Namni qalbii hin qabne waan kana beekuu hin dandaʼu; gowwaanis hin hubatu;
There are things [that you do] that foolish people cannot know about, things that stupid people cannot understand.
7 hamoonni yoo akkuma margaa biqilan iyyuu, jalʼoonni hundinuus yoo daraaran iyyuu, isaan bara baraan ni barbadaaʼu.
They do not understand that although the number of wicked [people] increases [like blades of] grass do [SIM], and they prosper, they will be completely destroyed.
8 Yaa Waaqayyo, ati garuu bara baraan ol ol jetta.
But Yahweh, you [will] exalted/be honored/rule) forever.
9 Yaa Waaqayyo, kunoo diinota kee, kunoo diinonni kee ni badu; warri jalʼina hojjetan hundinuus ni bittinneeffamu.
Yahweh, your enemies will [certainly] die, and those who do wicked things will be defeated/scattered.
10 Ati gaanfa koo akka gaanfa gafarsaa ol ol qabde; zayitii haaraa natti dhangalaafte.
But you have caused me to be as strong [MTY] as [SIM] a wild ox; you have caused me to be very joyful [MTY].
11 Iji koo moʼatamuu diinota koo argeera; gurri koos badiisa jalʼoota natti kaʼanii dhagaʼeera.
I [SYN] have seen you defeat my enemies; d I have heard those evil men wail/scream while they were being slaughtered.
12 Qajeeltonni akkuma muka meexxii ni dagaagu; akkuma birbirsa Libaanoonitti ni guddatu;
But righteous [people] will prosper like [SIM] palm trees that grow well, or like [SIM] cedar [trees] that grow in Lebanon.
13 isaan mana Waaqayyoo keessa dhaabamanii jiru; oobdii Waaqa keenyaa keessattis itti tolee misanii jiran.
[They are like the trees] that grow near the temple of Yahweh [in Jerusalem], those trees that are close to the courtyard of the temple of our God.
14 Isaan amma iyyuu bara dullumaa keessa ija naqatu; gabbataniis dagaaganii jiraatu.
[Even] when righteous people become old, they do many things [IDM] [that please God]. They remain strong and full of energy, [like trees that] [MET] remain full of sap.
15 Isaanis, “Waaqayyo tolaa dha; inni Kattaa koo ti; hamminni isa keessa hin jiru” jedhanii labsu.
That shows that Yahweh is just; he is [like a huge] rock [under which I am safe/protected], and he never does anything that is wicked/wrong.
