Faarfannaa 8

1 Dura buʼaa faarfattootaatiif. Faarfannaa Daawit kan Gitiitiidhaan faarfatamu. Yaa Waaqayyo Gooftaa keenya, maqaan kee lafa hundatti akkam ulfina qabeessa! Ati ulfina kee samiiwwan irratti diriirsiteerta.

“To the chief musician upon Gittith, a psalm of David.” O Eternal One our Lord, how excellent is thy name on all the earth! thou who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.

2 Sababii diinota keetiitiif, amajaajii fi nama haaloo baafatu afaan qabachiisuuf jettee, afaan daaʼimmaniitii fi mucoolii harma hodhanii irraa galata qopheessiteerta.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou founded [thy] might, because of thy opponents, that thou mightest bring to silence the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.

3 Yommuu ani hojii quba keetii, samiiwwan kee, jiʼaa fi urjiiwwan ati hundeessitee ilaalutti,

When I behold thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast established: —

4 akka ati isaaf yaadduuf namni maali? Akka isaaf dhimmituuf ilmi namaa maali?

What is the mortal, that thou rememberest him? and the son of man, that thou thinkest of him:

5 Ati xinnoo ishee ofii keetii gad isa goote; ulfinaa fi kabajaan isa gonfite.

Yet thou hast made him but a little less than angels, and hast crowned him with honor and glory.

6 Hojii harka keetii irratti bulchaa isa goote; waan hundas miilla isaa jala galchite;

Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; every thing hast thou placed beneath his feet:

7 bushaayee fi loon hunda, bineensota bosonaas,

Flocks and herds altogether, and also the beasts of the field;

8 simbirroota samii irraa, qurxummii galaanaa, waan daandii galaanaatiin darbu hundas miilla isaa jala galchite.

The birds of heaven, and the fishes of the sea, whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 Yaa Waaqayyo Gooftaa keenya, maqaan kee lafa hundumaa irratti akkam ulfina qabeessa!

O Eternal One our Lord, how excellent is thy name on all the earth!
