< Faarfannaa 14 >
1 Dura buʼaa faarfattootaatiif. Faarfannaa Daawit. Gowwaan garaa isaatti, “Waaqni hin jiru” jedha. Isaan xuraaʼaniiru; hojiin isaaniis jibbisiisaa dha; namni waan gaarii hojjetu tokko iyyuu hin jiru.
For the leader. Of David. Fools say in their heart, “There is no God.” Vile, hateful their life is; not one does good.
2 Waaqayyo yoo namni waa hubatu, kan Waaqas barbaadu, tokko iyyuu jiraate arguuf jedhee, samii irraa ilmaan namootaa gad ilaala.
From heaven the Lord looks out on humans, to see if any are wise, and care for God.
3 Hundinuu dogoggoraniiru; hundi isaaniis xuraaʼaniiru; namni waan gaarii hojjetu tokko hin jiru; tokkumti iyyuu hin jiru.
But all have turned bad, the taint is on all; not one does good, no, not one.
4 Warri hammina hojjetan kanneen akkuma waan buddeena nyaataniitti saba koo nyaatan, warri Waaqayyoon hin waammanne hundinuu homaa hin beekanii?
Have they learned their lesson, those workers of evil? Who ate up my people, eating, devouring, never calling to the Lord.
5 Isaan sodaadhaan liqimfamaniiru; Waaqni dhaloota qajeeltotaa wajjin jiraatii.
Sore afraid will they be; for God is among those who are righteous,
6 Isin jalʼoonni karoora hiyyeeyyii jalaa fashaleessitu; Waaqayyo garuu daʼoo isaanii ti.
you may mock the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.
7 Maaloo utuu Xiyoon keessaa fayyinni Israaʼeliif dhufee! Yommuu Waaqayyo saba isaa warra boojiʼaman deebisutti, Yaaqoob haa ililchu; Israaʼelis haa gammadu!
If only help from Zion would come for Israel! When the Lord brings his people a change of fortune, how glad will be Jacob, and Israel how joyful!
