1 Faarfannaa Ol baʼuu. Faarfannaa Daawit. Yommuu isaan, “Kottu gara mana Waaqayyoo dhaqnaa” naan jedhanitti, ani nan gammade.

A song of ascents, of David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of Yahweh.”

2 Yaa Yerusaalem, miilli keenya karrawwan kee irra dhaabata.

Jerusalem, our feet are standing within your gates!

3 Yerusaalem akka magaalaa walitti maxxantee gobbatte tokkootti ijaaramte.

Jerusalem, built as a city carefully planned!

4 Kunis iddoo gosoonni, gosoonni Waaqayyo, akka sirna Israaʼeliif kenname sanaatti, maqaa Waaqayyoo galateeffachuuf itti ol baʼanii dha.

The tribes go up to Jerusalem—the tribes of Yahweh— as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of Yahweh.

5 Teessoowwan murtii, teessoowwan mana Daawit achi dhaabatu.

There thrones of judgment were set, thrones of the house of David.

6 Akkana jedhaa nagaa Yerusaalemiif kadhadhaa: “Warri si jaallatan nagaan haa jiraatan.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May those who love you have peace.

7 Dallaa kee keessa nagaan, masaraa mootummaa keetii keessa immoo tasgabbiin haa jiraatu.”

May there be peace within the walls that defend you, and may they have peace within your fortresses.”

8 Ani obboloota kootii fi michoota kootiif jedhee, “Nagaan si keessa haa jiraatu” nan jedha.

For the sake of my brothers and my friends I will say, “May there be peace within you.”

9 Mana Waaqayyo Waaqa keenyaatiif jedhee, ani akka wanni gaariin siif taʼu nan hawwa.

For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek good for you.
