< Fakkeenya 1 >
1 Fakkeenya Solomoon Ilma Daawit, mootii Israaʼel:
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 Ogummaa fi qajeelfama qabaachuudhaaf, dubbii beekumsa guddaa hubachuudhaaf;
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 ogummaadhaan jiraachuudhaan, qajeelummaadhaan, murtii qajeelaa kennuu fi nama wal qixxeessuudhaan qajeelfama argachuudhaaf;
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 warra waa hin beekneef of eeggannoo kennuudhaaf, dargaggootaaf immoo beekumsaa fi hubannaa kennuudhaaf,
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 ogeeyyiin dhaggeeffatanii barumsa isaanii irratti waa haa dabalatan; warri qalbii qabanis qajeelfama haa argatan;
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 kunis fakkeenyaa fi hiikkaa, jechaa fi hibboo ogeeyyii hubachuudhaaf.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Waaqayyoon sodaachuun jalqaba ogummaa ti; gowwoonni garuu ogummaa fi adabamuu tuffatu.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Yaa ilma ko, gorsa abbaa keetii dhaggeeffadhu; barsiisa haadha keetii illee hin gatin.
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
9 Wanni kun mataa kee miidhagsuudhaaf gonfoo, morma kee bareechuudhaaf immoo faaya siif taʼa.
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
10 Yaa ilma ko, yoo cubbamoonni sossobanii ofitti si harkisan, tole hin jedhiniif.
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 Yoo isaan, “Nu wajjin kottu; riphnee dhiiga namaa dhangalaasnaa; nama balleessaa hin qabne galaafachuudhaafis dhokannee eeggannaa;
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
12 kottu akkuma awwaalaa jiraatti isaan liqimsinaa; akkuma warra boolla keessa buufamaniis guutumaan guutuutti isaan liqimsinaa; (Sheol )
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol )
13 nu waan gatii qabu kan gosa hundaa ni arganna; manneen keenya illee boojuudhaan guuttanna;
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 ixaa kee nu wajjin buufadhu; nus korojoo tokko si wajjin qooddannaa” siin jedhan,
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 yaa ilma ko, ati isaan wajjin hin deemin; miilla keetiin karaa isaanii irra illee hin ejjetin;
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 miilli isaanii cubbuutti ariifataatii; isaan dhiiga dhangalaasuuf jarjaru.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Utuma simbirroonni hundi arganuu, kiyyoo buusuun waan gatii hin qabnee dha!
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Namoonni kunneen dhiiguma ofii isaanii riphanii eeggatu; lubbuma ofii isaanii gaadu!
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Kun dhuma warra qabeenya karaa hamaadhaan argamu duukaa buʼan hundaa ti; wanni akkasii jireenya warra isa argatanii balleessa.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Ogummaan karaa irratti guddiftee iyyiti; iddoo wal gaʼii uummataattis sagalee ishee ol fudhatti.
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 Isheen fiixee daandii irraa iyyiti; karra magaalaa duraas akkana jettee dubbatti:
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 “Isin warri homaa hin beekne kun hamma yoomiitti karaa keessan kan faayidaa hin qabne sana jaallattu? Warri namatti qoosan hamma yoomiitti qoosaa sanatti gammadanii gowwoonnis beekumsa jibbu?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Mormii koo qalbeeffadhaa; ani yaada koo isinii nan dhangalaasa; dubbii koos isiniifin ibsa.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Garuu sababii isin yeroo ani isin waametti diddanii yeroo ani harka balʼifadhetti namni tokko iyyuu na hin dhaggeeffatiniif,
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 waan isin gorsa koo hunda tuffattanii dheekkamsa koo dhagaʼuu diddaniif,
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 anis badiisa keessanitti nan kolfa, yeroo balaan isinitti dhufuttis nan qoosa;
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 yeroo balaan akkuma bubbeetti isin fudhatutti, yeroo badiisni akkuma bubbee hamaatti isin haxaaʼutti, yeroo dhiphinaa fi rakkinni isinitti dhufutti ani isinittan qoosa.
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 “Yeroo sana isaan na waammatu; ani garuu isaan jalaa hin owwaadhu; isaan na barbaadu; garuu na hin argatan.
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Isaan waan beekumsa jibbanii Waaqayyoon sodaachuu illee filachuu didaniif,
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 waan gorsa koo fudhachuu didanii dheekkamsa koos tuffataniif,
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 isaan gatii karaa isaanii ni nyaatu; buʼaa jalʼina isaaniis ni quufu.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Gowwoota waa dagachuutu isaan balleessaatii; quufni gowwootaa isaanuma balleessa;
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 namni na dhaggeeffatu kam iyyuu garuu nagaadhaan jiraata; inni qabbanaan jiraata; wanni hamaanis isa hin sodaachisu.”
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
