< Fakkeenya 7 >
1 Yaa ilma ko, dubbii koo eegiitii ajaja koos of keessatti kuufadhu.
My son, guard my words and conceal my precepts within you.
2 Ajaja koo eegi, ati ni jiraataatii; barsiisa koos akkuma qaroo ija keetiitti eegi.
Son, preserve my commandments, and you shall live. And keep my law as the pupil of your eye.
3 Quba keetti isaan hidhadhu; gabatee garaa keetii irrattis barreeffadhu.
Bind it with your fingers; write it on the tablets of your heart.
4 Ogummaan, “Ati obboleettii koo ti” jedhi; hubannaa immoo, fira koo jedhii waami;
Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call prudence your friend.
5 isaan sagaagaltuu irraa, niitii kashlabbee dubbii isheetiin nama harkiftu irraa si eegu.
So may she guard you from the woman who is an outsider, and from the stranger who sweetens her words.
6 Ani foddaa mana koo biraa keessaan, karaa qaawwaatiin ala ilaale.
For I gaze from the window of my house, through the lattice,
7 Ani warra homaa hin dandeenye keessatti, dargaggoota keessatti hubadhee dargaggeessa qalbii hin qabne tokko arge.
and I see little ones. I consider a frenzied youth,
8 Innis karaa mana ishee dhaqu qabatee daandii golee mana ishee bira jiruutiin gad buʼaa ture.
who crosses the street at the corner and close to the way of that house.
9 Kunis yeroo aduun dhiitee lafti dimimmisaaʼaa turetti, yeroo halkan dukkanaaʼuu jalqabetti ture.
He steps into shadows, as day becomes evening, into the darkness and gloom of the night.
10 Dubartiin tokko akka sagaagaltuutti uffattee yaada haxxummaatiin isa simachuuf gad baate.
And behold, a woman meets him, dressed like a harlot, prepared to captivate souls: chattering and rambling,
11 Isheen iyyituu fi kashlabbee dha; miilli ishee mana hin dhaabatu;
unwilling to bear silence, unable to keep her feet at home,
12 takka daandii irratti, takka oobdii irratti, golee hundatti riphxee nama eeggatti.
now outside, now in the streets, now lying in ambush near the corners.
13 Isheen qabdee isa dhungatti; fuula qaanii hin qabneen akkana jettiin:
And overtaking the youth, she kisses him, and with a provocative face, she flatters him, saying:
14 “Ani aarsaa nagaa dhiʼeessuun qaba; harʼa wareega koo guuttadheera.
“I vowed sacrifices for well-being. Today I have repaid my vows.
15 Kanaafuu ani si simachuufin gad baʼe; ani barbaadee si argadheera!
Because of this, I have gone out to meet you, desiring to see you, and I have found you.
16 Ani wayyaa bareedduu quncee talbaa irraa hojjetame kan Gibxii dhufeen, siree koo afee miidhagseera.
I have woven my bed with cords. I have strewn it with embroidered tapestries from Egypt.
17 Ani qumbiin, argeessaa fi qarafaan siree koo urgeesseera.
I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloe, and cinnamon.
18 Kottu mee hamma bariitti gad fageenya jaalalaa walii wajjin dhugnaa; kottu jaalalaan of gammachiifnaa!
Come, let us be inebriated in abundance, and let us delight in the embraces of desire, until the day begins to dawn.
19 Dhirsi koo mana hin jiru; inni karaa dheeraa deemeera.
For my husband is not in his house. He has gone away on a very long journey.
20 Inni boorsaa isaa maallaqaan guuttatee deeme; hamma jiʼi goobanutti manatti hin deebiʼu.”
He took with him a bag of money. He will return to his house on the day of the full moon.”
21 Isheen dubbii miʼooftuudhaan karaa irraa isa jalʼifte; haasaa nama sossobuunis isa dirqisiifte.
She enmeshed him with many words, and she drew him forward with the flattery of her lips.
22 Innis akkuma sangaa qalamuuf deemuutti, akkuma gadamsa kiyyoo keessa seenuuttis yommusuma kaʼee ishee duukaa buʼe;
Immediately, he follows her, like an ox being led to the sacrifice, and like a lamb acting lasciviously, and not knowing that he is being drawn foolishly into chains,
23 akkuma simbira kiyyootti ariifattuutti, inni hamma xiyyi tiruu isaa waraanutti akka wanni kun lubbuu isaa galaafatu hin beeku.
until the arrow pierces his liver. It is just as if a bird were to hurry into the snare. And he does not know that his actions endanger his own soul.
24 Egaa yaa ilmaan ko, na dhaggeeffadhaa; waan ani jedhus qalbeeffadhaa.
Therefore, my son, hear me now, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Akka garaan kee karaa isheetti garagalu hin godhin; karaa kee irraas baddee daandii ishee irra hin buʼin.
Do not let your mind be pulled into her ways. And do not be deceived by her paths.
26 Namoonni hedduun warra isheen lafaan dhooftee dha; namoonni jajjaboon baayʼeenis harka isheetti dhumaniiru.
For she has tossed aside many wounded, and some of those who were very strong have been slain by her.
27 Manni ishee karaa qileetti nama geessu, kan gola duʼaatti gad nama buusuu dha. (Sheol )
Her household is the way to Hell, reaching even to the inner places of death. (Sheol )
