< Fakkeenya 16 >

1 Karoorri garaa kan namaa ti; deebiin arrabaa garuu Waaqayyo biraa dhufa.
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 Nama tokko karaan isaa hundi qulqulluu itti fakkaata; yaada namaa garuu Waaqayyotu madaala.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weighs the spirits.
3 Waan hojjettu hunda Waaqayyotti kennadhu; karoorri kees siif milkaaʼa.
Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.
4 Waaqayyo waan hunda kaayyoo ofii isaatiif hojjeta; hamoota iyyuu guyyaa badiisaatiif qopheessa.
The LORD has made all things for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Namni of tuulu kam iyyuu fuula Waaqayyoo duratti balfamaa dha; dhugumaan inni utuu hin adabamin hin hafu.
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 Namni jaalalaa fi amanamummaadhaan araara cubbuu argata; Waaqayyoon sodaachuudhaanis hammina irraa cita.
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 Yoo karaan namaa Waaqayyoon gammachiise, inni akka diinonni isaas nagaan isa wajjin jiraatan ni godha.
When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Galii guddaa jalʼinaan argatan mannaa waan xinnoo qajeelummaan argatan wayya.
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 Namni garaa isaa keessatti karaa isaa karoorfata; Waaqayyo garuu tarkaanfii isaa illee ni murteessa.
A man’s heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps.
10 Hidhiin mootii hooda dubbata; afaan isaa illee murtii hin jalʼisu.
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresses not in judgment.
11 Madaallii fi safartuun qajeelaan kan Waaqayyoo ti; ulfinni korojoo keessa jiru hundinuu hojii isaa ti.
A just weight and balance are the LORD’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 Sababii teessoon qajeelummaadhaan jabaatee dhaabatuuf mootonni waan hamaa hojjechuu ni balfu.
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Mootonni afaan dhugaa dubbatutti ni gammadu; isaan nama dhugaa dubbatu ni jaallatu.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.
14 Dheekkamsi mootii ergamaa duʼaa ti; namni ogeessi garuu ni qabbaneessa.
The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15 Jireenyi ifa fuula mootii keessa jira; surraan isaa akkuma duumessa bokkaa arfaasaa ti.
In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 Ogummaa argachuun warqee caala; hubannaa argachuunis meetii caala!
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
17 Daandiin nama tolaa hammina irraa fagoo dha; namni karaa isaa eegus jireenya isaa eeggata.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Of tuuluun badiisaan dura, of bokoksuunis kufaatiin dura deema.
Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Warra of tuulu wajjin boojuu qooddachuu mannaa, hafuuraan gad of qabanii warra cunqurfame wajjin jiraachuu wayya.
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Namni gorsa fudhatu kam iyyuu ni milkaaʼa; kan Waaqayyoon amanatus eebbifamaa dha.
He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.
21 Namni garaadhaan ogeessa taʼe qalbeeffataa jedhama; dubbiin miʼaawu immoo gorsa dabala.
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
22 Hubannaan nama isa qabuuf madda jireenyaa ti; gowwummaan garuu gowwootatti adabbii fida.
Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 Garaan nama ogeessaa arraba isaa qajeelcha; afaan isaas gorsa dabala.
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
24 Dubbiin nama gammachiisu dhaaba dammaa ti; inni lubbuutti ni miʼaawa; lafees ni fayyisa.
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 Karaan qajeelaa namatti fakkaatu tokko jira; dhuma irratti garuu duʼatti nama geessa.
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 Fedhiin hojjetaan tokko nyaataaf qabu hojiif isa kakaasa; beelaʼuun isaas ittuma cima.
He that labors labors for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.
27 Namni faayidaa hin qabne hammina malata; haasaan isaas akkuma ibidda waa gubuu ti.
An ungodly man digs up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 Namni jalʼaan lola kakaasa; hamattuun immoo michoota walitti dhiʼaatan gargar baafti.
A fraudulent man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.
29 Namni jeequmsaan deemu ollaa isaa gowwoomsee karaa jalʼaatti isa geessa.
A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him into the way that is not good.
30 Namni ija qisu jalʼina karoorfata; kan hidhii ciniinnatu immoo hammina fida.
He shuts his eyes to devise fraudulent things: moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
31 Arriin gonfoo ulfinaa ti; innis karaa qajeelaadhaan argama.
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
32 Goota waraanaa irra nama obsa qabu, nama magaalaa tokko boojiʼee fudhatu irra kan of qabu wayya.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
33 Ixaan gudeeda irratti buufama; murtoon isaa garuu guutumaan guutuutti Waaqayyo biraa dhufa.
The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
