Lakkoobsa 32
1 Ilmaan Ruubeenii fi ilmaan Gaad warri loonii fi bushaayee hedduu qaban akka biyyi Yaʼizeerii fi biyyi Giliʼaad horii isaaniitiif tolu argan.
And much cattle hath been to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad, very many; and they see the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, and lo, the place [is] a place [for] cattle;
2 Isaan gara Musee, gara Eleʼaazaar lubichaatii fi gara hooggantoota waldaa dhufanii akkana jedhan;
and the sons of Gad, and the sons of Reuben, come in and speak unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the company, saying:
3 “Axaaroti, Diiboon, Yaʼizeer, Niimraa, Heshboon, Eleʼaalee, Sebaamaa, Neboo fi Beʼoon,
'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon —
4 biyyi Waaqayyo fuula waldaa Israaʼel duratti rukute sun horiif tolaa dha; nu tajaajiltoonni kees horii qabna.
the land which Jehovah hath smitten before the company of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle.'
5 Yoo nu fuula kee duratti fudhatama argannee jiraanne biyyi kun nu tajaajiltoota keetiif handhuuraa taʼee haa kennamu. Akka nu Yordaanos gama ceenus hin godhin.”
And they say, 'If we have found grace in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession; cause us not to pass over the Jordan.'
6 Museenis ilmaan Gaadii fi ilmaan Ruubeeniin akkana jedhe; “Obboloonni keessan duula dhaqanii isin immoo as teessuu?
And Moses saith to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, 'Do your brethren go in to the battle, and ye — do ye sit here?
7 Isin maaliif akka Israaʼeloonni biyya Waaqayyo isaanii kenne sanatti ceʼanii hin galleef abdii isaan kutachiiftuu?
and why discourage ye the heart of the sons of Israel from passing over unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them?
8 Kun waanuma abbootiin keessan gaafa ani akka isaan biyyattii ilaalaniif jedhee Qaadesh Barnee irraa isaan erge sana hojjetanii dha.
'Thus did your fathers in my sending them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the land;
9 Isaanis erga gara Sulula Eshkool dhaqanii biyya sana arganii booddee akka Israaʼeloonni biyya Waaqayyo isaaniif kennetti hin galleef abdii isaan kutachiisan.
and they go up unto the valley of Eshcol, and see the land, and discourage the heart of the sons of Israel so as not to go in unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them;
10 Dheekkamsi Waaqayyoos guyyuma sana bobaʼe; innis akkana jedhee kakate;
and the anger of Jehovah burneth in that day, and He sweareth, saying,
11 ‘Waan isaan garaa guutuudhaan na faana deemuu didaniif, namoota waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen biyya Gibxiitii baʼanii dhufan keessaa namni tokko iyyuu biyya ani Abrahaamiif, Yisihaaqii fi Yaaqoobiif waadaa gale sana hin argu.
They do not see — the men who are coming up out of Egypt from a son of twenty years and upward — the ground which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, for they have not been fully after Me;
12 Kaaleb ilma Yefunee kan gosa Qeneezii fi Iyyaasuu ilma Nuuni malee namni tokko iyyuu hin argu; isaan lamaan garaa guutuudhaan Waaqayyo duukaa buʼaniiruutii.’
save Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua son of Nun, for they have been fully after Jehovah;
13 Dheekkamsi Waaqayyoo Israaʼel irratti bobaʼe; innis hamma dhaloonni fuula isaa duratti waan hamaa hojjete sun hundi dhumutti akka isaan waggaa afurtama gammoojjii keessa jooran godhe.
and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He causeth them to wander in the wilderness forty years, until the consumption of all the generation which is doing the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah.
14 “Yaa sanyii cubbamootaa nana, isin kunoo dheekkamsa Waaqayyoo kan Israaʼel irratti bobaʼe sana ittuma caalchisuuf iddoo abbootii keessanii buutaniirtu.
'And lo, ye have risen in the stead of your fathers, an increase of men — sinners, to add yet to the fury of the anger of Jehovah toward Israel;
15 Yoo isin isa duukaa buʼuu irraa garagaltan inni ammas gammoojjii kana keessatti saba kana hunda ni dhiisa; isinis uummata kana ni balleessitu.”
when ye turn back from after Him, then He hath added yet to leave him in the wilderness, and ye have done corruptly to all this people.'
16 Isaan gara isaa dhufanii akkana jedhaniin; “Nu asitti horii keenyaaf dallaa, dubartootaa fi ijoollee keenyaaf immoo magaalaawwan ijaarra.
And they come nigh unto him, and say, 'Folds for the flock we build for our cattle here, and cities for our infants;
17 Nu garuu hamma lafa isaaniitiin isaan geenyutti hidhannee Israaʼel dura deemuuf qophaaʼoo dha. Yeroo kanatti akka jiraattoonni biyyattii isaan hin tuqneef dubartoonnii fi ijoolleen keenya magaalaawwan dallaa jabaa qaban keessa haa jiraatan.
and we — we are armed hasting before the sons of Israel till that we have brought them in unto their place; and our infants have dwelt in the cities of defence because of the inhabitants of the land;
18 Hamma tokkoon tokkoon Israaʼelootaa dhaala ofii isaanii argatanitti nu mana keenyatti hin deebinu.
we do not turn back unto our houses till the sons of Israel have inherited each his inheritance,
19 Sababii dhaalli keenya laga Yordaanos irraa gara baʼaatti nuuf kennameef nu Yordaanos irraa gama kaaniin isaan wajjin waan dhaallu hin qabnu.”
for we do not inherit with them beyond the Jordan and yonder, for our inheritance hath come unto us beyond the Jordan at the [sun] -rising.'
20 Museenis akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Yoo isin waan kana gootan, yoo isin fuula Waaqayyoo duratti hidhattanii duulaaf kaatan,
And Moses saith unto them, 'If ye do this thing: if ye are armed before Jehovah for battle,
21 yoo isin hundinuu hamma inni diinota ofii isaa fuula ofii isaa duraa ariʼee baasutti hidhattanii fuula Waaqayyoo dura Yordaanosin ceetan,
and every armed one of you hath passed over the Jordan before Jehovah, till his dispossessing His enemies from before Him,
22 yeroo biyyattiin fuula Waaqayyoo duratti moʼatamtutti isin itti gaafatama Waaqayyoo fi saba Israaʼeliif qabdan irraa ni bilisoomtu. Biyyi sunis fuula Waaqayyoo duratti dhaala keessan taʼa.
and the land hath been subdued before Jehovah — then afterwards ye do turn back, and have been acquitted by Jehovah, and by Israel; and this land hath been to you for a possession before Jehovah.
23 “Garuu isin yoo waan kana gochuu baattan, kunoo Waaqayyotti cubbuu hojjechuu keessan; akka cubbuun keessan isin argatu illee beekkadhaa.
'And if ye do not so, lo, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and know ye your sin, that it doth find you;
24 Dubartootaa fi ijoollee keessaniif magaalaawwan, bushaayee keessaniif immoo dallaa ijaaraa; isin garuu waan waadaa galtan sana guutaa.”
build for yourselves cities for your infants, and folds for your flock, and that which is going out from your mouth do ye.'
25 Ilmaan Gaadii fi ilmaan Ruubeen Museedhaan akkana jedhan; “Nu garboonni kee akkuma gooftaan keenya nu ajaju goona.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben speak unto Moses, saying, 'Thy servants do as my lord is commanding;
26 Ijoolleen keenyaa fi niitonni keenya, bushaayeen keenyaa fi loon keenya, asuma magaalaawwan Giliʼaaditti haa hafan.
our infants, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts, are there in cities of Gilead,
27 Nu garboonni kee garuu tokkoon tokkoon keenya akkuma gooftaan keenya jedhe sana duulaaf qophoofnee fuula Waaqayyoo duratti duuluuf ni ceena.”
and thy servants pass over, every armed one of the host, before Jehovah, to battle, as my lord is saying.'
28 Ergasiis Museen waaʼee isaanii Eleʼaazaar lubichaaf, Iyyaasuu ilma Nuunitii fi abbootii maatii gosoota Israaʼeliif ajaja kenne.
And Moses commandeth concerning them Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel;
29 Innis akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Yoo ilmaan Gaadii fi ilmaan Ruubeen, namni waraanaaf hidhate hundi fuula Waaqayyoo duratti isin wajjin Yordaanos ceʼe, yommuu biyyattiin isin harka galtutti biyya Giliʼaad sana kennaafii.
and Moses saith unto them, 'If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben pass over with you the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land hath been subdued before you, then ye have given to them the land of Gilead for a possession;
30 Garuu isaan yoo duulaaf hidhatanii isin wajjin ceʼuu baatan, Kanaʼaan keessatti isin wajjin lafa haa argatan.”
and if they do not pass over armed with you, then they have possessions in your midst in the land of Canaan.'
31 Ilmaan Gaadii fi ilmaan Ruubeenis akkana jedhanii deebii kennan; “Nu garboonni kee waan Waaqayyo jedhe ni goona.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answer, saying, 'That which Jehovah hath spoken unto thy servants — so we do;
32 Nu miʼa lolaa hidhannee fuula Waaqayyoo dura ceenee Kanaʼaan seenna; garuu qabeenyi nu dhaallu Yordaanosiin gamatti nuuf haa hafu.”
we — we pass over armed before Jehovah [to] the land of Canaan, and with us [is] the possession of our inheritance beyond the Jordan.'
33 Museenis mootummaa Sihoon mootii Amoorotaa fi mootummaa Oogi mootii Baashaan jechuunis biyya sana guutuu magaalaawwan isaaniitii fi bulchiinsa naannoo isaanii jiru sana ilmaan Gaadiitiif, ilmaan Ruubeeniitii fi walakkaa gosa Minaasee ilma Yoosefiif kenne.
And Moses giveth to them, to the sons of Gad, and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land by its cities, in the borders, the cities of the land round about.
34 Ilmaan Gaadis magaalaawwan Diiboon, Axaaroti, Aroʼeer,
And the sons of Gad build Dihon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 Atroot Shoofaan, Yaʼizeer, Yogbihaa,
and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,
36 Beet Niimraa fi Beet haaraan magaalaawwan jajjaboo godhanii ijaaran. Bushaayee isaaniitiifis dallaa ijaarratan.
and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, cities of defence, and sheepfolds.
37 Ilmaan Ruubeenis magaalaawwan Heshboon, Eleʼaaleenii fi Kiriyaataayim,
And the sons of Reuben have build Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,
38 akkasumas Neboo fi Baʼaal Meʼoon jechuunis magaalaawwan maqaan isaanii geeddaramee fi Sibimaa deebisanii ijaaran. Isaanis magaalaawwan deebisanii ijaaran sanaaf maqaa baasan.
and Nebo, and Baal-Meon (changed in name), and Shibmah, and they call by [these] names the names of the cities which they have built.
39 Ijoolleen Maakiir ilma Minaasees gara Giliʼaad dhaqanii biyyattii qabatanii Amoorota achi turan ariʼanii baasan.
And sons of Machir son of Manasseh go to Gilead, and capture it, and dispossess the Amorite, who [is] in it;
40 Museenis Giliʼaadin ijoollee Maakiir sanyii Minaaseetiif kenne; isaanis achi qubatan.
and Moses giveth Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelleth in it.
41 Yaaʼiir ilmi Minaasees dhaqee gandoota isaanii fudhatee gandoota Yaaʼiirootaa jedhee moggaase.
And Jair son of Manasseh hath gone and captureth their towns, and calleth them 'Towns of Jair;'
42 Noobaan immoo Qeenaatii fi gandoota naannoo isaa jiran qabatee Noobaa jedhee maqaa ofii isaatiin waame.
and Nobah hath gone and captureth Kenath, and its villages, and calleth it Nobah, by his own name.
