< Maatewos 9 >
1 Yesuus bidiruu yaabbatee galaana ceʼee gara magaalaa isaa dhufe.
Afterward Jesus got into a boat, and, crossing over, came to his own city.
2 Kunoo, jarri tokko nama dhagni irratti duʼee siree irra ciisu tokko gara isaa fidan. Yesuusis yommuu amantii isaanii argetti namichaan, “Ilma koo jabaadhu; cubbuun kee siif dhiifameeraatii” jedhe.
There some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Courage, child! Your sins are forgiven.”
3 Kana irratti barsiistota seeraa keessaa tokko tokko garaa isaanii keessatti, “Kunoo, namichi kun Waaqa arrabsa!” jedhan.
Then some of the teachers of the Law said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!”
4 Yesuusis yaada isaanii beekee akkana jedhe; “Isin maaliif garaa keessan keessatti waan hamaa yaaddu?
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus exclaimed, “Why do you cherish such wicked thoughts?
5 ‘Cubbuun kee siif dhiifameera’ jechuu moo ‘Kaʼii deemi’ jechuutu salphaa dha?
Which, I ask, is the easier? – to say ‘Your sins are forgiven’? Or to say ‘Get up, and walk’?
6 Ani garuu akka Ilmi Namaa cubbuu namaaf dhiisuudhaaf lafa irratti taayitaa qabu akka beektan nan barbaada.” Kanaafuu inni namicha dhagni irratti duʼe sanaan, “Kaʼi; siree kee fudhadhuutii mana keetti gali” jedhe.
But to show you that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” – then he said to the paralyzed man – “Get up, take up your bed, and return to your home.”
7 Namichis kaʼee mana isaatti gale.
The man got up and went to his home.
8 Namoonnis yommuu waan kana arganitti ni dinqifatan; Waaqa taayitaa akkasii namaaf kenneefis ulfina kennan.
When the crowd saw this, they were awe-struck, and praised God for giving such power to human beings.
9 Yesuus achii kaʼee utuu deemuu namicha Maatewos jedhamu tokko utuu inni iddoo itti qaraxa walitti qaban taaʼuu argee, “Na duukaa buʼi” jedheen. Maatewosis kaʼee isa duukaa buʼe.
As Jesus went along, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting in the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me.” Matthew got up and followed him.
10 Yeroo Yesuus mana Maatewositti irbaata nyaachaa turetti, qaraxxoonnii fi cubbamoonni baayʼeen dhufanii isaa fi barattoota isaa wajjin nyaatan.
And, later on, when he was having dinner in the house, a number of tax collectors and outcasts came in and took their places at the table with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Fariisonni yommuu waan kana arganitti, “Barsiisaan keessan maaliif qaraxxootaa fi cubbamoota wajjin nyaata?” jedhanii barattoota isaa gaafatan.
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat in the company of tax collectors and outcasts?”
12 Yesuus immoo waan kana dhageenyaan akkana jedhe; “Ogeessi fayyaa warra dhukkubsataniif malee warra fayyaa qabaniif hin barbaachisu.
On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.
13 Garuu dhaqaatii dubbiin, ‘Ani araaran fedha malee aarsaa hin fedhu’jedhu sun maal jechuu akka taʼe hubadhaa. Ani cubbamoota waamuufin dhufe malee qajeeltota waamuuf hin dhufneetii.”
Go and learn what this means – ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice’; for I did not come to call the religious, but the outcast.”
14 Barattoonni Yohannis dhufanii, “Sababiin utuu nuu fi Fariisonni soomnuu, barattoonni kee hin soomneef maali?” jedhanii isa gaafatan.
Then John’s disciples came to Jesus, and asked, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast while your disciples do not?”
15 Yesuus immoo akkana jedhee deebise; “Keessummoonni misirrichaa akkamiin utuu inni isaan wajjin jiruu gadduu dandaʼu? Yeroon itti misirrichi isaan biraa fudhatamu ni dhufa; isaanis yeroo sana ni soomu.
Jesus answered, “Can the groom’s friends mourn as long as the groom is with them? But the days will come, when the groom will be taken away from them, and they will fast then.
16 “Namni uffata moofaa irratti erbee haaraa erbu tokko illee hin jiru; erbeen sun uffata sana irraa tarsaasaatii; tarsaʼaan sunis isa duraa ni caala.
Nobody ever puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for such a patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made.
17 Akkasuma immoo namoonni daadhii wayinii haaraa qalqalloo moofaatti hin naqan. Yoo isaan itti naqan qalqallichi ni dhoʼa; daadhiinis ni dhangalaʼa; qalqalloonis horoomaa baʼa. Daadhiin wayinii haaraan garuu yoo qalqalloo haaraatti naqame lachanuu yeroo dheeraa turu.”
Nor do people put new wine into old wine-skins; for, if they do, the skins burst, and the wine runs out, and the skins are lost; but they put new wine into fresh skins, and so both are preserved.”
18 Utuu inni waan kana dubbachaa jiruu, bulchaan mana sagadaa tokko dhufee fuula isaa duratti jilbeenfatee, “Intalli koo ammuma na duraa duute. Garuu kottuutii harka kee ishee irra kaaʼi; isheenis ni jiraattii” jedheen.
While Jesus was saying this, a synagogue leader came up and bowed to the ground before him. “My daughter,” he said, “has just died; but come and place your hand on her, and she will be restored to life.”
19 Yesuus kaʼee barattoota isaa wajjin isa duukaa buʼe.
So Jesus rose and followed him, and his disciples went also.
20 Kunoo, dubartiin dhiigni ishee waggaa kudha lama dhangalaʼaa ture tokko dugda isaa duubaan dhuftee handaara uffata isaa tuqxe.
But meanwhile a woman, who had been suffering from hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind and touched the tassel of his cloak.
21 Isheenis garaa ishee keessatti, “Ani yoon uffatuma isaa illee tuqe nan fayya” jettee yaaddee turteetii.
“If I only touch his cloak,” she said to herself, “I will get well.”
22 Yesuusis garagalee ishee ilaalee, “Yaa intalaa, amantiin kee si fayyiseeraatii jabaadhu!” jedheen. Dubartiin sunis yeruma sana fayyite.
Turning and seeing her, Jesus said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has delivered you.” And at that very moment she became well.
23 Yesuusis yommuu mana bulchaa mana sagadaa sanaa seenee warra ulullee afuufanii fi uummata wacu argetti,
When Jesus reached the leader’s house, seeing the flute players, and a number of people all in confusion,
24 “Asii deemaa! Intalattiin rafteerti malee hin duunee” jedhe. Isaan garuu isatti kolfan.
he said, “Go away, the little girl is not dead; she is asleep.” They began to laugh at him;
25 Erga namoonni gad baafamanii booddees inni ol seenee harka intalattii qabe; isheenis kaatee dhaabatte.
but, when the people had been sent out, Jesus went in, and took the little girl’s hand, and she rose.
26 Oduun waaʼee kanaas biyya sana guutuu keessa facaʼe.
The report of this spread through all that part of the country.
27 Yesuus utuu achii kaʼee deemaa jiruu, jaamonni lama isa duukaa buʼanii, “Yaa Ilma Daawit nu maari!” jedhanii iyyan.
As Jesus was passing on from there, he was followed by two blind men, who kept calling out, “Take pity on us, Son of David!”
28 Yommuu inni mana seenettis jaamonni sun gara isaa dhufan; innis, “Akka ani waan kana gochuu dandaʼu ni amantuu ree?” jedhee isaan gaafate. Isaanis, “Eeyyee, yaa Gooftaa!” jedhanii deebisaniif.
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came up to him; and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Master!” they answered.
29 Yesuusis ija isaanii qaqqabee, “Akkuma amantii keessanii isiniif haa taʼu” jedheen.
Then he touched their eyes, and said, “It will be according to your faith.”
30 Iji isaaniis ni baname. Yesuusis, “Akka namni tokko iyyuu waan kana hin beekne of eeggadhaa” jedhee jabeessee isaan akeekkachiise.
Then their eyes were opened. Jesus sternly cautioned them. “See that no one knows of it,” he said.
31 Jarri garuu achii baʼanii biyya sana hunda keessatti waaʼee isaa odeessan.
But the men went out, and spread the news about him through all that part of the country.
32 Utuu isaan gad baʼuutti jiranuu jarri tokko nama hafuura hamaadhaan qabamee dubbachuu hin dandeenye tokko Yesuusitti fidan.
Just as they were going out, some people brought up to Jesus a dumb man who was possessed by a demon;
33 Namichi sunis erga hafuurri hamaan isa keessaa baafamee booddee ni dubbate. Namoonnis, “Wanni akkanaa gonkumaa Israaʼel keessatti hin argamne” jedhanii dinqifatan.
and, as soon as the demon had been driven out, the dumb man spoke. The people were astonished at this, and exclaimed, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”
34 Fariisonni garuu, “Inni hangafa hafuurota hamootiin hafuurota hamoo baasa” jedhan.
But the Pharisees said, “He drives out the demons by the help of the chief of the demons.”
35 Yesuus manneen sagadaa isaanii keessatti barsiisaa, wangeela mootummaa lallabaa, akkasumas dhibee fi dhukkuba hunda irraa namoota fayyisaa magaalaawwanii fi gandoota hunda keessa deeme.
Jesus went around all the towns and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Innis yommuu tuuta namootaa argetti garaa laafeef; isaan akkuma hoolota tiksee hin qabneetti dhiphatanii, gatamaniis turaniitii.
But, when he saw the crowds, his heart was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and harassed, like sheep without a shepherd;
37 Barattoota isaatiinis akkana jedhe; “Midhaan walitti qabamu baayʼee dha; hojjettoonni garuu muraasa.
and he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few.
38 Kanaaf akka Gooftaan midhaan sanaa gara lafa qotiisaa midhaan isaatti hojjettoota erguuf isa kadhadhaa.”
Therefore pray to the owner of the harvest to send laborers to gather in his harvest.”
