Maatewos 8
1 Yeroo Yesuus gaara irraa buʼetti, tuuta namoota baayʼeetu isa duukaa buʼe.
And when he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
2 Kunoo namichi lamxaaʼaan tokkos dhufee, fuula isaa duratti jilbeenfatee, “Yaa Gooftaa, yoo fedhii kee taʼe, ati na qulqulleessuu ni dandeessa” jedheen.
And look, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean."
3 Yesuusis harka isaa hiixatee namicha qaqqabee, “Fedhii koo ti; qulqullaaʼi!” jedheen. Lamxiin isaas yeruma sana qulqullaaʼe.
And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Ergasiis Yesuus, “Nama tokkotti illee akka hin himne beekkadhu. Garuu dhaqiitii akka isaaniif ragaa taʼuuf lubatti of argisiisi; kennaa Museen ajaje sana illee dhiʼeessi” jedheen.
And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
5 Yeroo Yesuus Qifirnaahom seenetti, ajajaan dhibbaa tokko gara isaa dhufee akkana jedhee isa kadhate;
And when he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him,
6 “Yaa Gooftaa, tajaajilaan koo dhagni irratti duʼee mana ciisa; akka malees dhiphachaa jira.”
and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented."
7 Yesuusis, “Ani dhufeen isa fayyisa” jedheen.
And he said to him, "I will come and heal him."
8 Ajajaan dhibbaa sun immoo akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Yaa Gooftaa, ati bantii mana kootii jala seenuun naaf hin malu. Garuu dubbicha qofa dubbadhu; tajaajilaan koo ni fayyaatii.
And the centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 Ani mataan koo iyyuu nama taayitaa jala jiruu dha; loltootas of jalaa qaba. Isa tokkoon, ‘Deemi’ nan jedha; innis ni deema; isa kaaniin immoo, ‘Kottu’ nan jedha; innis ni dhufa. Tajaajilaa kootiinis, ‘Waan kana hojjedhu’ nan jedha; innis ni hojjeta.”
For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and tell another, 'Come,' and he comes; and tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
10 Yesuus yommuu waan kana dhagaʼetti dinqifatee warra isa duukaa buʼaa turaniin akkana jedhe; “Ani dhuguma isinittin hima; ani Israaʼel keessatti nama amantii guddaa akkanaa qabu tokko illee hin arganne.
And when Jesus heard it, he was amazed, and said to those who followed, "Truly I tell you, I have not found so great a faith with anyone in Israel.
11 Ani isinittin hima; namoonni hedduun baʼa biiftuutii fi lixa biiftuutii ni dhufu; isaanis Abrahaam, Yisihaaqii fi Yaaqoob wajjin mootummaa samii keessatti maaddiitti ni dhiʼaatu.
And I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
12 Ijoolleen mootummaa garuu dukkana alaatti gad darbatamu; achitti booʼuu fi ilkaan qaruutu taʼa.”
but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and grinding of teeth."
13 Yesuusis deebisee ajajaa dhibbaa sanaan, “Akkuma amantii keetii siif haa taʼu; deemi!” jedhe. Tajaajilaan isaas yeruma sana fayye.
And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed in that hour.
14 Yesuus yommuu mana Phexros seenetti, haati niitii Phexros dhukkuba dhagna gubaadhaan qabamtee ciiftee arge.
And when Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.
15 Innis harka ishee tuqe; dhagna gubaan sunis ishee dhiise; isheenis kaatee isa tajaajiluu jalqabde.
So he touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him.
16 Galgala sanas namoota hafuurota hamoon qabaman hedduu gara isaa fidan; innis jecha tokkoon hafuurota sana baase; dhukkubsattoota hundumaa ni fayyise.
And when evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick;
17 Kunis akka dubbiin karaa Isaayyaas raajichaatiin, “Inni dhibee keenya nurraa fuudhe; dhukkuba keenyas ni baate” jedhame sun raawwatamuuf taʼe.
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, "He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases."
18 Yesuus yommuu tuuta namoota baayʼee naannoo isaatti argetti akka gama ceʼaniif ajaje.
Now when Jesus saw large crowds around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.
19 Barsiisaan seeraa tokkos gara isaa dhufee, “Yaa barsiisaa, ani iddoo ati dhaqxu hundatti si duukaa nan buʼa” jedhe.
Then a scribe came, and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
20 Yesuusis deebisee, “Waangoonni boolla qabu; simbirroonnis manʼee qabu; Ilmi Namaa garuu iddoo itti mataa isaa irkifatu illee hin qabu” jedhe.
And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."
21 Barattoota isaa keessaas inni tokko, “Yaa Gooftaa, dura akka ani dhaqee abbaa koo awwaalladhu naa eeyyami!” jedheen.
And another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father."
22 Yesuus garuu, “Warri duʼan duʼaa isaanii haa awwaallatan; ati immoo na duukaa buʼi” jedheen.
But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."
23 Yommuu inni bidiruu yaabbatettis, barattoonni isaa isa duukaa buʼan.
And when he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 Akkuma tasaa bubbeen hamaan tokko galaana irratti kaʼe; dambaliinis bidiruu sana irra gara gale. Yesuus garuu rafaa ture.
And look, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep.
25 Barattoonni isaa gara isaa dhufanii, “Yaa Gooftaa, nu oolchi! Nu dhumuufii!” jedhanii isa dammaqsan.
They came to him, and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord. We are dying."
26 Innis deebisee, “Isin warra amantii xinnoo nana; maaliif akkana sodaattu?” jedheen. Kaʼees bubbee sanaa fi galaana sana ifate; tasgabbiin guddaanis ni taʼe.
And he said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 Namoonnis dinqifatanii, “Namni bubbee fi galaanni ajajamaniif kun nama akkamii ti?” jedhan.
And the men were amazed, saying, "What kind of person is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
28 Yommuu Yesuus gama ceʼee biyya Gadareen gaʼetti, namoonni hafuura hamaan qabaman lama iddoo awwaalaatii baʼanii itti dhufan. Isaanis waan akka malee hamoo turaniif namni tokko iyyuu karaa sana irra darbuu hin dandaʼu ture.
And when he came to the other side, into the country of the Gadarenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.
29 Isaanis, “Yaa Ilma Waaqaa, ati maal nurraa barbaadda? Utuu yeroon sun hin gaʼin nu dhiphisuu dhufte moo?” jedhanii iyyan.
And look, they shouted, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
30 Hoomaan booyyee guddaan isaas xinnoo isaan irraa fagaatee dheedaa ture.
Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.
31 Hafuuronni hamoon sunis, “Yoo nu baafte, gara hoomaa booyyee sanaatti nu ergi” jedhanii Yesuusin kadhatan.
And the demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs."
32 Innis, “Dhaqaa!” jedheen. Isaanis namicha keessaa baʼanii hoomaa booyyee sanatti galan; hoomaan sun guutuunis ededa hallayyaa irraa gad gugatee galaanatti namʼee bishaan keessatti dhume.
And he said to them, "Go." And they came out, and went into the pigs, and look, the whole herd rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water.
33 Warri booyyeewwan tiksan sunis baqatanii magaalaa seenan; isaanis waan hunda, waan namoota hafuurota hamoon qabamanii turan irra gaʼes ni odeessan.
And those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.
34 Magaalaan sun guutuunis Yesuusin arguuf baʼe. Yommuu isa argettis akka inni biyya isaanii keessaa baʼuuf isa kadhate.
And look, all the city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
