Maatewos 26
1 Yesuus erga waan kana hunda dubbatee raawwatee booddee barattoota isaatiin akkana jedhe;
And it came to passe, when Iesus had finished all these sayings, he saide vnto his disciples,
2 “Akkuma isin beektan Faasiikaaf guyyaa lamatu hafa; Ilmi Namaas fannifamuuf dabarfamee ni kennama.”
Ye know that after two dayes is ye Passeouer, and the Sonne of man shalbe deliuered to be crucified.
3 Ergasii luboonni hangafoonnii fi maanguddoonni uummataa dallaa luba ol aanaa isa Qayyaaffaa jedhamuu keessatti walitti qabaman.
Then assembled together the chiefe Priests, and the Scribes, and the Elders of ye people into the hall of the high Priest called Caiaphas:
4 Isaanis haxxummaadhaan Yesuusin qabuu fi ajjeesuuf mariʼatan.
And consulted together that they might take Iesus by subtiltie, and kill him.
5 Isaanis, “Garuu akka namoota gidduutti gooliin hin kaaneef yeroo ayyaanaatti hin taʼin” jedhan.
But they sayd, Not on the feast day, least any vprore be among the people.
6 Utuu Yesuus Biitaaniyaa keessa mana Simoon isa lamxaaʼaa sanaa jiruu,
And when Iesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 dubartiin tokko shittoo gatiin isaa akka malee guddaa taʼe bilqaaxxii albaasxiroositti qabattee gara isaa dhufte; akkuma inni maaddiitti dhiʼaateenis shittoo sana mataa isaatti dhangalaafte.
There came vnto him a woman, which had a boxe of very costly oyntment, and powred it on his head, as he sate at the table.
8 Barattoonnis yommuu waan kana arganitti aaranii akkana jedhan; “Waan kana balleessuun maaliif?
And when his disciples sawe it, they had indignation, saying, What needed this waste?
9 Silaa shittoon kun gatii guddaatti gurguramee maallaqa isaa hiyyeeyyiif kennuun ni dandaʼama tureetii.”
For this oyntment might haue bene solde for much, and bene giuen to the poore.
10 Yesuusis kana hubatee akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Isin maaliif dubartii kana rakkiftu? Isheen waan gaarii naaf gooteerti.
And Iesus knowing it, sayde vnto them, Why trouble yee the woman? for shee hath wrought a good woorke vpon me.
11 Hiyyeeyyii yeroo hunda of biraa qabdu; ana garuu yeroo hunda of biraa hin qabdan.
For yee haue the poore alwayes with you, but me shall yee not haue alwaies.
12 Dubartiin kun yommuu shittoo kana dhagna koo irrati dhangalaaftetti awwaalaaf na qopheessuudhaaf waan kana goote.
For in that shee powred this oyntment on my bodie, shee did it to burie me.
13 Ani dhuguma isinittin hima; addunyaa hunda irratti, iddoo wangeelli kun itti lallabamu kamitti iyyuu wanni isheen gootes yaadannoo isheetiif ni odeeffama.”
Verely I say vnto you, wheresoeuer this Gospel shall bee preached throughout all the worlde, there shall also this that shee hath done, be spoken of for a memoriall of her.
14 Ergasiis warra Kudha Lamaan keessaa namichi Yihuudaa Keeriyotii jedhamu tokko gara luboota hangafootaa dhaqee,
Then one of the twelue, called Iudas Iscariot, went vnto the chiefe Priestes,
15 “Yoo ani isa dabarsee isinitti kenne isin maal naaf kennitu?” jedhee gaafate. Isaanis meetii soddomaan walii galan.
And said, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? and they appoynted vnto him thirtie pieces of siluer.
16 Yihuudaanis yeroo sanaa jalqabee Yesuusin dabarsee kennuuf haala mijaaʼaa eeggachaa ture.
And from that time, he sought opportunitie to betraie him.
17 Guyyaa jalqaba Ayyaana Maxinootti barattoonni gara Yesuus dhufanii, “Akka ati Faasiikaa nyaattuuf eessatti akka siif qopheessinu barbaadda?” jedhanii gaafatan.
Nowe on the first day of the feast of vnleauened bread the disciples came to Iesus, saying vnto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eate the Passeouer?
18 Innis deebisee akkana jedhe; “Magaalaa seenaatii nama wayiitiin, ‘Barsiisaan, yeroon koo gaʼeera; ani barattoota koo wajjin Ayyaana Faasiikaa mana keetti nan kabaja siin jedha’ jedhaa.”
And he said, Goe yee into the citie to such a man, and say to him, The master saieth, My time is at hande: I will keepe the Passeouer at thine house with my disciples.
19 Barattoonnis akkuma Yesuus isaan ajaje sana godhan; Faasiikaas ni qopheessan.
And the disciples did as Iesus had giuen them charge, and made readie the Passeouer.
20 Yesuusis yommuu galgalaaʼetti warra Kudha Lamaan wajjin maaddiitti dhiʼaate.
So when the Euen was come, hee sate downe with the twelue.
21 Innis utuma nyaachaa jiranuu, “Ani dhuguma isinitti nan hima; isin keessaa tokko dabarsee na kenna” jedhe.
And as they did eate, he sayde, Verely I say vnto you, that one of you shall betraie me.
22 Isaanis akka malee gaddanii tokko tokkoon, “Yaa Gooftaa, na taʼinnaa laata?” jedhanii gaafachuu jalqaban.
And they were exceeding sorowfull, and began euery one of them to say vnto him, Is it I, Master?
23 Yesuusis akkana jedhee deebise; “Namichi na wajjin gabatee keessa harka kaaʼee cuuphate dabarsee na kenna.
And hee answered and sayde, Hee that dippeth his hande with me in the dish, hee shall betraie me.
24 Ilmi Namaa akkuma waaʼeen isaa barreeffame sanatti ni deema. Garuu namicha dabarsee Ilma Namaa kennu sanaaf wayyoo! Inni utuu dhalachuu baatee isaaf wayya ture.”
Surely the Sonne of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Sonne of man is betrayed: it had bene good for that man, if hee had neuer bene borne.
25 Yihuudaan inni dabarsee isa kennuuf jiru sunis, “Yaa Barsiisaa, na taʼinnaa laata?” jedhe. Yesuusis, “Atuu jette kaa!” jedhee deebise.
Then Iudas which betraied him, answered and sayde, Is it I, Master? He sayde vnto him, Thou hast sayd it.
26 Utuu nyaachaa jiranuus Yesuus buddeena fuudhee eebbise; caccabsees, “Fudhadhaa nyaadhaa; kun foon koo ti” jedhee barattoota isaatiif kenne.
And as they did eate, Iesus tooke the bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gaue it to the disciples, and sayd, Take, eate: this is my bodie.
27 Xoofoos fuudhee galata galchee isaaniif kenne; akkanas jedhe; “Hundi keessan kana irraa dhugaa.
Also he tooke the cuppe, and when he had giuen thankes, he gaue it them, saying, Drinke ye all of it.
28 Kun dhiiga koo, dhiiga kakuu haaraa kan dhiifama cubbuu namoota baayʼeetiif dhangalaafamuu dha.
For this is my blood of the Newe Testament, that is shedde for many, for the remission of sinnes.
29 Ani isinitti nan hima; ani hamman guyyaa isin wajjin mootummaa Abbaa koo keessatti deebiʼee dhugutti ammaa jalqabee ija wayinii kana irraa hin dhugu.”
I say vnto you, that I will not drinke henceforth of this fruit of the vine vntil that day, when I shall drinke it new with you in my Fathers kingdome.
30 Isaanis erga faarfannaa faarfatanii booddee Tulluu Ejersaatti qajeelan.
And when they had sung a Psalme, they went out into the mount of Oliues.
31 Ergasii Yesuus akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Hundi keessan edana sababii kootiif ni gufattu; akkana jedhamee barreeffameeraatii: “‘Ani tiksee nan rukuta; hoolonni karra sanaas ni bittinneeffamu.’
Then saide Iesus vnto them, All yee shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, I wil smite the shepheard, and the sheepe of the flocke shalbe scattered.
32 Ani garuu ergan duʼaa kaʼee booddee isin dura Galiilaa nan dhaqa.”
But after I am risen againe, I will go before you into Galile.
33 Phexros immoo deebisee, “Yoo namni hundinuu sababii keetiif gufate iyyuu ani gonkumaa hin gufadhu” jedheen.
But Peter aunswered, and sayde vnto him, Though that al men should be offended by thee, yet will I neuer be offended.
34 Yesuus immoo deebisee, “Ani dhuguma sitti nan hima; ati edana utuu indaanqoon hin iyyin yeroo sadii na ganta” jedheen.
Iesus sayde vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, that this night, before the cocke crow, thou shalt denie me thrise.
35 Phexros garuu, “Ani yoon si wajjin duʼuu qabaadhe illee gonkumaa si hin ganu” jedheen. Barattoonni hundinuus akkasuma jedhan.
Peter saide vnto him, Though I should die with thee, I will in no case denie thee. Likewise also sayd all the disciples.
36 Ergasiis Yesuus barattoota isaa wajjin iddoo Geetesemaanee jedhamu tokko dhaqe; innis, “Hamma ani achi dhaqee kadhadhutti isin as taaʼaa” jedheen.
Then went Iesus with them into a place which is called Gethsemane, and said vnto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I goe, and pray yonder.
37 Innis Phexrosii fi ilmaan Zabdewoos lamaan of faana fudhatee deeme; gadduu fi yaaddaʼuus jalqabe.
And hee tooke vnto him Peter, and the two sonnes of Zebedeus, and began to waxe sorowfull, and grieuously troubled.
38 Ergasiis inni, “Lubbuun koo akka malee gadditee duʼuu geesseerti. Isin asuma turaatii na wajjin dammaqaa” jedheen.
Then sayde Iesus vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie yee here, and watch with me.
39 Innis xinnoo achi hiiqee adda isaatiin lafatti gombifamee, “Yaa Abbaa ko, yoo dandaʼame xoofoon kun narra haa darbu. Garuu akka fedhii keetii malee akka fedhii kootii hin taʼin” jedhee kadhate.
So hee went a litle further, and fell on his face, and praied, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 Innis gara barattoota isaatti deebiʼee utuu rafanuu isaan arge. Phexrosiinis akkana jedhe; “Jarana, isin saʼaatii tokkitti illee dammaqxanii na wajjin turuu hin dandeenyee?
After, hee came vnto the disciples, and founde them a sleepe, and sayde to Peter, What? coulde yee not watch with me one houre?
41 Isin akka qorumsatti hin galleef dammaqaa kadhadhaa. Hafuurri qophaaʼaa dha; foon garuu dadhabaa dha.”
Watch, and praie, that yee enter not into tentation: the spirit in deede is readie, but the flesh is weake.
42 Ammas yeroo lammaffaa achi hiiqee, “Yaa Abbaa ko, xoofoon kun utuu ani hin dhugin yoo narra darbuu hin dandeenye akkuma fedhii keetii haa taʼu” jedhee kadhate.
Againe he went away the second time, and praied, saying, O my Father, if this cuppe can not passe away from mee, but that I must drinke it, thy will be done.
43 Inni yommuu deebiʼee dhufetti, ammas utuu rafanuu isaan arge; iji isaanii itti ulfaatee tureetii.
And he came, and founde them a sleepe againe, for their eyes were heauie.
44 Ammas isaan dhiisee achi hiiqee waanuma kanaan dura kadhate sana irra deebiʼee yeroo sadaffaa kadhate.
So he left them and went away againe, and praied the third time, saying the same woordes.
45 Innis gara barattootaatti deebiʼee akkana jedheen; “Isin amma iyyuu raftanii boqochaa jirtuu? Kunoo, saʼaatiin sun gaʼeera; Ilmi Namaas dabarfamee harka cubbamootaatti ni kennama.
Then came he to his disciples, and said vnto them, Sleepe henceforth, and take your rest: behold, the houre is at hand, and the Sonne of man is giuen into the hands of sinners.
46 Kaʼaa ni deemnaa! Kunoo, namichi dabarsee na kennu sun dhufaa jira.”
Rise, let vs goe: beholde, hee is at hande that betraieth me.
47 Utuma inni amma iyyuu dubbachaa jiruu, Yihuudaan namichi warra Kudha Lamaan keessaa tokko taʼe sun dhufe. Tuunni luboota hangafootaa fi maanguddoota uummataa biraa ergame guddaanis goraadee fi bokkuu qabatee isa wajjin dhufe.
And while hee yet spake, loe Iudas, one of the twelue, came, and with him a great multitude with swordes and staues, from the high Priests and Elders of the people.
48 Inni dabarsee Yesuusin kennu sunis, “Namichi ani dhungadhu isa; isinis isa qabaa” jedhee mallattoo kenneefii ture.
Now he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomesoeuer I shall kisse, that is he, laie holde on him.
49 Yihuudaanis yommusuma Yesuusitti dhiʼaatee, “Nagumaa yaa barsiisaa!” jedhee isa dhungate.
And forthwith he came to Iesus, and sayd, God saue thee, Master, and kissed him.
50 Yesuusis deebisee, “Yaa michuu ko, waan dhufteef sana raawwadhu kaa!” jedhe. Namoonni sun itti dhiʼaatanii Yesuusin qabanii hidhan.
Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Friende, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laide hands on Iesus, and tooke him.
51 Kunoo, warra Yesuus wajjin turan keessaa inni tokko goraadee isaa luqqifatee garbicha luba ol aanaa dhaʼee gurra isaa irraa kute.
And behold, one of them which were with Iesus, stretched out his hand, and drewe his sworde, and strooke a seruaunt of the high Priest, and smote off his eare.
52 Yesuus immoo akkana jedheen; “Goraadee kee iddoo isaatti deebisi; warri goraadee luqqifatan hundinuu goraadeedhaan balleeffamuutii.
Then sayde Iesus vnto him, Put vp thy sworde into his place: for all that take the sworde, shall perish with the sworde.
53 Ati waan ani Abbaa kootti iyyachuu hin dandeenye, waan innis yeruma sana ergamoota Waaqaa LeegewooniiKudha Lamaa olii naa hin ergine seetaa?
Either thinkest thou, that I can not now pray to my Father, and he will giue me moe then twelue legions of Angels?
54 Utuu akkas taʼee immoo wanni Katabbiiwwan Qulqulluun karaa kanaan taʼuu qaba jedhan sun silaa akkamitti raawwatama ree?”
Howe then shoulde the Scriptures bee fulfilled, which say, that it must be so?
55 Saʼaatii sanatti Yesuus tuuta sanaan akkana jedhe; “Isin goraadee fi bokkuu qabattanii akka nama hattuu qabuutti na qabuu dhuftanii? Ani guyyuma guyyaan mana qulqullummaa keessa taaʼee barsiisaan ture; isinis na hin qabne.
The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.
56 Kun hundinuu garuu akka Katabbiiwwan raajotaa Qulqulluun raawwatamaniif taʼe.” Barattoonni hundinuus isa dhiisanii baqatan.
But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsooke him, and fled.
57 Warri Yesuusin qaban sunis gara mana luba ol aanaa isa Qayyaaffaa jedhamuu iddoo barsiistonni seeraatii fi maanguddoonni itti walitti qabamaniitti isa geessan.
And they tooke Iesus, and led him to Caiaphas the hie Priest, where the Scribes and the Elders were assembled.
58 Phexros garuu hamma dallaa mana lubicha ol aanaatti fagootti isa duukaa buʼe. Innis waan taʼuuf jiru arguuf jedhee ol lixee waardiyyoota wajjin taaʼe.
And Peter followed him a farre off vnto the hie Priestes hall, and went in, and sate with the seruants to see the ende.
59 Luboonni hangafoonnii fi yaaʼiin Yihuudootaa guutuun Yesuusin ajjeesuuf jedhanii ragaa sobaa isatti barbaadaa turan.
Nowe the chiefe Priestes and the Elders, and all the whole councill sought false witnesse against Iesus, to put him to death.
60 Isaan garuu yoo dhuga baatonni sobaa hedduun dhiʼaatan illee homaa hin arganne. Dhuma irratti dhuga baatonni lama dhufanii,
But they founde none, and though many false witnesses came, yet founde they none: but at the last came two false witnesses,
61 “Namichi kun, ‘Ani mana qulqullummaa Waaqaa diiguu, guyyaa sadii keessatti deebisee ijaaruu nan dandaʼa’ jedheera” jedhan.
And saide, This man saide, I can destroie the Temple of God, and build it in three daies.
62 Lubichi ol aanaanis kaʼee dhaabatee, “Ati deebii tokko illee hin kennituu? Wanni namoonni kunneen dhugaa sitti baʼan kun maali?” jedhee Yesuusin gaafate.
Then the chiefe Priest arose, and sayde to him, Answerest thou nothing? What is the matter that these men witnesse against thee?
63 Yesuus garuu inuma calʼise. Lubichi ol aanaan, “Ani Waaqa jiraataadhaan sin kakachiisa: Ati yoo Kiristoos Ilma Waaqaa taate mee nutti himi” jedheen.
But Iesus helde his peace. Then the chiefe Priest answered, and saide to him, I charge thee sweare vnto vs by the liuing God, to tell vs, If thou be that Christ the Sonne of God, or no.
64 Yesuusis deebisee, “Atuu jetteerta. Ani garuu isinitti nan hima; isin siʼachi utuu Ilmi Namaa mirga isa Humna qabeessa sanaatiin taaʼee, duumessa samiitiin dhufuu ni argitu” jedhe.
Iesus saide to him, Thou hast saide it: neuerthelesse I say vnto you, hereafter shall ye see the Sonne of man, sitting at the right hande of the power of God, and come in the cloudes of the heauen.
65 Kana irratti lubichi ol aanaan uffata isaa tarsaasee akkana jedhe; “Inni Waaqa arrabseera! Kana caalaa dhuga baatota maalii nu barbaachisa? Kunoo, Waaqa arrabsuu isaa isin iyyuu amma dhageessaniirtu.
Then the hie Priest rent his clothes, saying, Hee hath blasphemed, what haue wee any more neede of witnesses? beholde: nowe yee haue heard his blasphemie.
66 Maal isinitti fakkaata?” Isaanis, “Duʼatu isaaf mala” jedhanii deebisan.
What thinke yee? They answered, and said, He is guiltie of death.
67 Ergasii isaan fuula isaatti tufan; abootteenis isa rukutan. Warri kaan immoo isa kabalanii,
Then spet they in his face, and buffeted him, and other smote him with roddes,
68 “Yaa Kiristoos! Eenyutu si rukute? Mee raajii nutti dubbadhu” jedhaniin.
Saying, Prophecie to vs, O Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
69 Phexrosis dallaa keessa ala taaʼaa ture; xomboreen tokko isatti dhiʼaattee, “Atis Yesuus namicha Galiilaa sana wajjin turte!” jetteen.
Peter sate without in the hall, and a maide came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Iesus of Galile:
70 Inni garuu, “Ani waan ati dubbachuutti jirtu hin beeku” jedhee hunduma isaanii duratti gane.
But hee denied before them all, saying, I wote not what thou saiest.
71 Utuu inni gara karra dallaa sanaatti deemaa jiruus xomboreen biraa tokko isa argitee, “Namichi kun Yesuus nama Naazreeti wajjin ture” jettee warra achi turanitti himte.
And when hee went out into the porche, another maide sawe him, and sayde vnto them that were there, This man was also with Iesus of Nazareth.
72 Innis kakatee, “Ani namicha kana hin beeku!” jedhee ammas gane.
And againe he denied with an othe, saying, I knowe not the man.
73 Yeroo xinnoo booddee warri achi dhadhaabachaa turan Phexrositti dhiʼaatanii, “Atis dhuguma iyyuu jara keessaa tokkoo dha; loqodni kee si saaxilaatii” jedhan.
So after a while, came vnto him they that stoode by, and sayde vnto Peter, Surely thou art also one of them: for euen thy speache bewraieth thee.
74 Yommus inni, “Ani namicha kana hin beeku” jedhee of abaaruu fi kakachuu jalqabe. Yommusuma indaanqoon iyye.
Then began hee to curse himselfe, and to sweare, saying, I knowe not the man. And immediately the cocke crewe.
75 Phexrosis dubbii Yesuus, “Ati utuu indaanqoon hin iyyin yeroo sadii na ganta” jedhee ture sana yaadate. Gad baʼees hiqqifatee booʼe.
Then Peter remembred the wordes of Iesus, which had sayde vnto him, Before the cocke crowe thou shalt denie me thrise. So he went out, and wept bitterly.
