Maatewos 18
1 Yeruma sana barattoonni gara Yesuus dhufanii, “Yoos mootummaa samii keessatti kan hundumaa caalu eenyu?” jedhanii gaafatan.
In that hour came, the disciples unto Jesus, saying—Who then is, greatest, in the kingdom of the heavens?
2 Innis mucaa xinnaa tokko ofitti waamee isaan gidduu dhaabe.
And, calling near a child, he set it in the midst of them,
3 Akkanas jedhe: “Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; isin yoo deebitanii akkuma ijoollee taatan malee gonkumaa mootummaa samiitti hin galtan.
and said—Verily, I say unto you, Except ye turn and become as the children, in nowise, shall ye enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
4 Kanaaf namni akka daaʼima kanaa gad of qabu kam iyyuu mootummaa samii keessatti nama hunda caala.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this child, the same, is the greatest, in the kingdom of the heavens;
5 Namni daaʼima akkanaa tokko maqaa kootiin simatu kam iyyuu na simata.
And, whosoever shall give welcome unto one such child as this, upon my name, unto me, giveth welcome.
6 “Namni kam iyyuu warra natti amanan xixinnaa kanneen keessaa tokko illee yoo gufachiise, dhagaan daakuu guddaan morma isaatti hidhamee tuujuba galaanaa keessa dhidhimuu isaaf wayya ture.
And, whosoever shall cause to stumble one of these little ones who believe in me, it profiteth him, that there be hung a large mill-stone about his neck, and he be sunk in the wide main of the sea.
7 Sababii wantoota akka namoonni gufatan godhan sanaatiif addunyaaf wayyoo! Wantoonni akkanaa dhufuu qabu; garuu nama wantoonni kunneen karaa isaatiin dhufan sanaaf wayyoo!
Alas for the world! by reason of the causes of stumbling; for it is, necessary, that the causes of stumbling come, —nevertheless, alas for the man through whom the cause of stumbling cometh!
8 Yoo harki kee yookaan miilli kee si gufachiise, of irraa kutii gati. Harka lama yookaan miilla lama qabaattee ibidda bara baraatti darbatamuu irra, dooluu taatee yookaan laamshoftee jireenyatti galuu siif wayya. (aiōnios g166)
But, if, thy hand or thy foot, be causing thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: It is, seemly for thee, to enter into life, maimed or lame, rather than, having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the age-abiding fire. (aiōnios g166)
9 Yoo iji kee si gufachiise of keessaa baasii gati. Ija lama qabaattee ibidda gahaannamiitti darbatamuu irra ija tokko qabaattee jireenyatti galuu siif wayya. (Geenna g1067)
And, if, thine eye, causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: It is, seemly, for thee, one-eyed, into life, to enter, rather than, having two eyes, to be cast into the fiery gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
10 “Warra xixinnaa kanneen keessaa tokko illee akka hin tuffanneef of eeggadhaa. Ani isinitti nan hima; ergamoonni isaanii samii irratti yeroo hunda fuula Abbaa koo isa samii irraa ni arguutii. [
Beware! do not despise one of these little ones; For I say unto you—that, their messengers in the heavens, do, continually, behold the face of my Father in the heavens.
11 Ilmi Namaa isa bade oolchuudhaaf dhufeetii.]
12 “Isin maal seetu? Namni tokko yoo hoolota dhibba qabaatee hoolota sana keessaas tokko bade, namichi sun sagaltamii sagallan hafan kaan tulluuwwan irratti dhiisee tokkicha bade sana barbaaduu hin dhaquu?
How, to you, doth it seem? If a certain man come to have a hundred sheep and one from among them go astray, Will he not leave the ninety-nine upon the mountains, and going, seek the straying one?
13 Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; inni yoo hoolaa sana argate, hoolota sagaltamii sagallan hin badin irra hoolaa tokkicha sanatti caalaa ni gammada.
And, if it should be that he find it, Verily, I say unto you—He rejoiceth over it, more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray.
14 Akkasuma immoo isaan xixinnoo kanneen keessaa tokko iyyuu akka badu fedhii Abbaa keessan isa samii irraa miti.
Thus, there is no desire, in the presence of my Father who is in the heavens, that, one of these little ones, should be lost.
15 “Yoo obboleessi kee cubbuu sitti hojjete, dhaqiitii iddoo isin lamaan qofti jirtanitti balleessaa isaa itti himi. Yoo inni si dhagaʼe ati obboleessa kee deebifatteerta.
But, if thy brother sin, withdraw, convince him, betwixt thee and him, alone, —If unto thee he hearken, thou hast gained thy brother;
16 Yoo si dhagaʼuu baate garuu ‘dubbiin hundinuu dhuga baatota lamaan yookaan sadiin waan mirkaneeffamuuf’ nama biraa tokko yookaan nama lama fudhadhuu dhaqi.
But, if he do not hearken, take with thee, yet one or two, that, at the mouth of two witnesses or three, every declaration, maybe established;
17 Yoo inni jara dhagaʼuu dide waldaa kiristaanaatti himi; yoo inni waldaa kiristaanaa iyyuu dhagaʼuu dide akka nama ormaattii fi akka qaraxxuutti isa fudhadhu.
But, if he hear them amiss, tell it to the assembly, —And, if, even the assembly, he hear amiss, Let him be unto thee, just as the man of the nations and the tax-collector.
18 “Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; wanni isin lafa irratti hiitan kam iyyuu samii irratti ni hidhama; wanni isin lafa irratti hiiktan kam iyyuu samii irrattis ni hiikama.
Verily, I say unto you—Whatsoever things ye shall bind on the earth, shall be bound in heaven; and, whatsoever things ye shall loose on the earth, shall be loosed in heaven.
19 “Ammas ani isinitti nan hima; isin keessaa yoo namoonni lama lafa irratti waaʼee waan kadhatan kamii iyyuu walii galan Abbaan koo inni samii irraa isaaniif taasisa.
Again, [verily] I say unto you—If two from among you shall agree upon the earth concerning any matter, whatsoever they shall ask, it shall be brought to pass for them, from my Father who is in the heavens;
20 Iddoo itti namoonni lama yookaan sadii maqaa kootiin walitti qabamanitti ani gidduu isaaniitti nan argamaatii.”
For, where there are two or three, gathered together into my name, there, am I, in their midst.
21 Ergasii Phexros gara Yesuus dhufee, “Yaa Gooftaa, yoo obboleessi koo cubbuu natti hojjete ani yeroo hammam dhiisaaf? Hamma yeroo torbaattii?” jedhee gaafate.
Then, coming near, Peter said [to him]—Lord! how many times, shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until, seven, times?
22 Yesuusis akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Ani sitti nan hima; yeroo torbaatamii torba malee yeroo torba miti.
Jesus saith to him—I say not unto thee, unto, seven, times, but, until seventy times seven.
23 “Kanaafuu mootummaan samii mootii herrega garboota isaa harka jiru toʼachuu barbaade tokko fakkaata.
For this cause, hath the kingdom of the heavens become like unto a man, a king, who wished to settle an account with his servants;
24 Akkuma inni herrega isaa toʼachuu jalqabeenis nama mootichi taalaantii kuma kudhan irraa qabu tokko itti fidan.
And, when he, began, to settle, there was brought unto him a, certain, debtor, of a thousand talents;
25 Namichi sun waan baasu dhabnaan gooftaan isaa akka inni, niitiin isaa, ijoolleen isaatii fi wanni inni qabu hundinuu gurguramanii gatiin sun kaffalamu ajaje.
and, he, not having, wherewith to pay, the master ordered him to be sold, and the wife, and the children, and whatsoever he had, —and payment to be made.
26 “Garbichi sunis miilla isaatti kufee, ‘Yaa gooftaa, naaf obsi; hunduma isaa iyyuu siif nan kaffalaa’ jedhee isa kadhate.
The servant therefore, falling down, began to do homage unto him, saying—Have patience with me, and, all, will I pay thee.
27 Gooftaan garbicha sanaas garaa laafeef; gatii isa irraa qabus dhiiseefii gad isa lakkise.
And, moved with compassion, the master of that servant released him, and, the loan, he, forgave, him.
28 “Garbichi sun garuu akkuma achii baʼeen garbicha akka isaa kan gatii diinaariidhibbaa irraa qabu tokko arge. Innis morma namichaa hudhee qabee, ‘Waan ani sirraa qabu naa kaffali’ jedheen.
But that servant, going out, found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him, a hundred denaries, and, laying hold of him, he began seizing him by the throat, saying, Pay! if anything thou owest.
29 “Garbichi akka isaa sunis miilla isaatti kufee, ‘Naaf obsi; waan narra jiru siif nan kaffalaa’ jedhee isa kadhate.
His fellow servant, therefore, falling down, began beseeching him, saying, Have patience with me! And I will pay thee.
30 “Inni garuu ni dide; qooda kanaa hamma inni gatii isaa kaffalutti mana hidhaatti isa galchisiise.
He, however, would not, but went away and cast him into prison, —until he should pay what was owing.
31 Garboonni kaan yommuu waan taʼe sana arganitti akka malee gaddan; dhaqaniis waan taʼe hundumaa gooftaa isaaniitti himan.
His fellow-servants, therefore, seeing, the things that were done, were grieved exceedingly, —and went and made quite plain to their master all the things which had been done.
32 “Gooftichis garbicha sana ofitti waamee akkana jedheen; ‘Yaa garbicha hamaa! Ani sababii ati na kadhatteef gatii sirra ture hunda siif dhiise.
Then, calling him near, his master saith unto him—O wicked servant! All that debt, forgave I thee, because thou didst beseech me.
33 Akkuma ani garaa siif laafe sana atis garbicha akka keetiitiif garaa laafuu hin qabduu?’
Was it not binding, upon thee also, to have mercy upon thy fellow-servant, as, I also, on thee, had mercy?
34 Gooftaan isaas aariidhaan hamma inni gatii sana hunda kaffalutti warra isa dhiphisanitti dabarsee isa kenne.
And, provoked to anger, his master delivered him up to the torturers, until he should pay all that was owing.
35 “Isinis yoo garaa keessan guutuudhaan obboleessa keessaniif dhiisuu baattan Abbaan koo inni samii irraa tokkoo tokkoo keessan akkanuma godha.”
Thus, my heavenly Father also, will do unto you, if ye forgive not each one his brother, from your hearts.
