Maarqos 8
1 Gidduu sana tuunni biraa guddaan isaa ammas walitti qabame. Yesuusis sababii tuunni sun waan nyaatu hin qabaatiniif barattoota isaa ofitti waamee akkana jedhe;
And in those days, when the multitude was great, and had nothing to eat, he called his disciples, and said to them:
2 “Sababii isaan guyyaa sadii na bira turanii waan nyaatan tokko illee hin qabneef, ani namoota kanneeniif garaa nan laafa.
I compassionate this multitude; for, lo, three days have they continued with me, and they have nothing to eat.
3 Yoo ani agabuu isaanii gad isaan dhiise, isaan karaa irratti ni gaggabu; isaan keessaa tokko tokko fagoodhaa dhufaniitii.”
And if I send them to their homes fasting, they will faint by the way: for some of them have come from a great distance.
4 Barattoonni isaas deebisanii, “Namni kam iyyuu gammoojjii kana keessatti buddeena isaan gaʼu eessaa argachuu dandaʼa?” jedhan.
His disciples say to him: Whence can one, here in the desert, satisfy all these with bread?
5 Yesuus immoo, “Isin buddeena meeqa qabdu?” jedhee gaafate. Isaanis, “Torba” jedhan.
And he asked them: How many loaves have ye? They say to him, Seven.
6 Innis akka namoonni sun lafa tataaʼan itti hime. Buddeena torban fuudhee erga galateeffatee booddee kukkutee akka isaan namootaaf dhiʼeessaniif barattoota isaatti kenne; isaanis namootaaf dhiʼeessan.
And he directed the multitudes to recline on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and blessed, and brake, and grave to his disciples to set forth; and they set before the multitudes.
7 Akkasumas qurxummii xixinnoo muraasa qabu turan; qurxummii sanas eebbisee akka isaan namootaaf hiraniif barattoota isaatti hime.
And there were a few fishes; and them he also blessed, and ordered them set forth.
8 Namoonnis nyaatanii quufan. Ergasiis barattoonni hambaa gundoo torba guutuu walitti qaban.
And they ate, and were satisfied: and they took up seven baskets of the remaining fragments.
9 Isaanis gara nama kuma afurii turan. Innis erga of irraa isaan geggeessee booddee,
And the men who had eaten, were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10 barattoota isaa wajjin yommusuma bidiruu yaabbatee biyya Daalmaanutaa dhaqe.
And immediately he entered a ship, with his disciples, and came to the place Dalmanutha.
11 Fariisonnis dhufanii Yesuusitti falmuu jalqaban; isa qoruuf jedhaniis mallattoo samii irraa isa irraa barbaadan.
And the Pharisees came out, and began to dispute with him; and, to tempt him, they demanded of him a sign from heaven.
12 Innis hafuura dheeraa baafatee, “Dhaloonni kun maaliif mallattoo barbaada? Ani dhuguma isinitti hima; mallattoon tokko iyyuu dhaloota kanaaf hin kennamu” jedheen.
And he sighed with his breath, and said: Why doth this generation seek after a sign? Verily I say to you, No sign will be given to this generation.
13 Innis isaan dhiisee bidiruutti deebiʼee gama ceʼe.
And he left them, and embarked in the ship; and they passed to the other shore.
14 Barattoonnis buddeena tokkicha bidiruu keessaa of biraa qaban sana malee buddeena fudhachuu irraanfatanii turan.
And they had forgotten to take bread with them, and had but a single cake in the ship with them.
15 Yesuusis, “Beekkadhaa; raacitii Fariisotaatii fi raacitii Heroodis irraa of eeggadhaa” jedhee isaan akeekkachiise.
And he charged them, and said to them: Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16 Isaanis, “Kun sababii nu buddeena hin qabneef” jedhanii walii wajjin haasaʼan.
And they reasoned one with another, and said: It is, because we have no bread.
17 Yesuusis waan isaan haasaʼan beekee akkana jedhee isaan gaafate; “Isin maaliif waaʼee buddeena dhabuu keessanii dudubbattu? Isin amma iyyuu hin argitanii? Yookaan hin hubattanii? Mataa jabaattanii?
And Jesus knew it, and said to them: Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? Do ye still not know, nor understand? How long will your heart be hard?
18 Isin utuma ija qabdanuu hin argitanii? Utuma gurra qabdanuus hin dhageessanii? Hin yaadattanii?
and ye have eyes, but see not? and have ears, but hear not, nor reflect?
19 Yeroo ani buddeena shanan sana nama kuma shaniif caccabsetti isin hurraaʼaa gundoo meeqa guutuu kaaftan?” Isaanis, “Kudha lama” jedhaniin.
When I broke the five loaves to five thousand, how many baskets full of the fragments took ye up? They say to him: Twelve.
20 Innis, “Yeroo ani buddeena torba nama kuma afuriif caccabsetti hambaa gundoo meeqa guutuu walitti qabdan?” jedhee gaafate. Isaanis, “Torba” jedhaniin.
He saith to them. And when the seven to four thousand, how many baskets full of the fragments took ye up? They say: Seven.
21 Innis, “Isin amma iyyuu hin hubattanii?” jedheen.
He saith to them: Why is it that, to this time, ye do not consider?
22 Isaanis Beetisayidaa dhaqan; jarri tokkos namicha jaamaa tokko fidanii akka inni isa qaqqabuuf Yesuusin kadhatan.
And he came to Bethsaida: and they brought to him a blind man, and besought him to touch him.
23 Innis namicha jaamaa sana harka qabee ganda sana keessaa baase. Ija isaattis tufee, harka isaas irra kaaʼee, “Waa arguu dandeessaa?” jedhee gaafate.
And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the village, and spit on his eyes, and laid on his hand: and asked him, what he saw.
24 Namichis ol ilaalee, “Namoota nan arga; isaan muka deemu natti fakkaatu” jedhe.
And he gazed, and said: I see men like trees which walk.
25 Yesuus amma illee harka isaa ija namichaa irra kaaʼe. Iji namichaas ni baname; agartuun isaa ni deebiʼeef; waan hundas sirriitti arge.
Again he laid his hand on his eyes, and he was recovered, and saw every thing plainly.
26 Yesuusis namichaan, “Gara ganda sanaa seentee waan kana nama tokkotti illee hin himin” jedhee gara mana isaatti isa erge.
And he sent him to his house, and said to him: Neither enter into the village, nor tell any person in the village.
27 Yesuusii fi barattoonni isaa gara gandoota naannoo Fiiliphoos Qiisaariyaa jiraniitti darban. Innis, “Namoonni anaan eenyu jedhu?” jedhee karaa irratti isaan gaafate.
And Jesus and his disciples went to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And he asked his disciples by the way, and said to them: Who, do men say of me, that I am?
28 Isaanis, “Namoonni tokko tokko, ‘Inni Yohannis Cuuphaa dha’ jedhu; warri kaan, ‘inni Eeliyaas’ jedhu; kaan immoo, ‘inni raajota keessaa isa tokkoo dha’ jedhu” jedhanii deebisan.
And they said to him: That thou art John the Baptizer; and others: That thou art Elijah; and others: That thou art one of the prophets.
29 Innis, “Isin eenyu anaan jettu?” jedhee gaafate. Phexrosis, “Ati Kiristoos” jedhee deebise.
Jesus said to them: And who, do ye yourselves say of me, that I am? Simon replied, and said to him: Thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
30 Yesuusis akka isaan waaʼee isaa nama tokkotti illee hin himneef isaan akeekkachiise.
And he charged them, that they should say this of him to no person.
31 Yesuusis akka Ilmi Namaa waan hedduun dhiphachuu qabu, akka maanguddootaan, luboota hangafootaa fi barsiistota seeraatiin tuffatamuu qabuu fi akka ajjeefamuu qabu, guyyaa sadii booddee immoo akka duʼaa kaʼu isaan barsiisuu jalqabe.
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man was about to suffer much, and be rejected by the Elders and by the chief priests and by the Scribes, and be killed, and rise on the third day.
32 Innis waaʼee kanaa ifatti baasee dubbate; Phexrosis kophaatti baasee isa ifachuu jalqabe.
And he spoke out the thing distinctly. And Cephas took him, and began to rebuke him.
33 Yesuus garuu of irra garagalee barattoota isaa ilaale; Phexrosiinis, “Seexana nana! Na duubatti deebiʼi! Ati kan namaa yaadda malee kan Waaqaa hin yaadduutii” jedhee ifate.
But he turned, and looked upon his disciples, and rebuked Simon, and said: Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou dost not consider what is of God, but what is of men.
34 Ergasii inni tuuta sanaa fi barattoota isaa ofitti waamee akkana jedhe; “Namni kam iyyuu yoo na faana dhufuu barbaade, inni of haa ganu; fannoo isaa baadhatees na duukaa haa buʼu.
And Jesus called the multitude, together with his disciples, and said to them: Whoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and come after me.
35 Namni lubbuu isaa oolfachuu barbaadu kam iyyuu lubbuu isaa ni dhabaatii; garuu namni anaa fi wangeelaaf jedhee lubbuu isaa dhabu kam iyyuu lubbuu isaa ni oolfata.
For, whoever will preserve his life, shall lose it; and whoever will lose his life on my account, and on account of my tidings, shall preserve it.
36 Namni yoo addunyaa guutuu argatee lubbuu isaa immoo dhabe buʼaa maalii argata?
For, what will a man be profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose his life?
37 Yookaan namni qooda lubbuu isaa maal kennuu dandaʼa?
Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
38 Yoo namni kam iyyuu dhaloota ejjaa fi cubbamaa kana keessatti anaa fi dubbii kootti qaanaʼe, Ilmi Namaa yommuu ulfina Abbaa isaatiin ergamoota qulqulluu wajjin dhufutti isatti ni qaanaʼa.”
For, whoever shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this sinful and adulterous generation, of him also will the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father, with his holy angels.
