< Maarqos 6 >
1 Yesuus achii baʼee gara magaalaa itti dhalatee dhaqe; barattoonni isaas isa wajjin dhaqan.
Jesus went on from there and came to His hometown, accompanied by His disciples.
2 Innis guyyaan Sanbataa geenyaan mana sagadaatti barsiisuu jalqabe; warri isa dhagaʼan baayʼeenis ni dinqisiifatan. Isaanis akkana jedhanii gaafatan; “Namichi kun wantoota kanneen eessaa argate? Ogummaan isaaf kenname kun maali? Hojiiwwan dinqisiisoon harka isaatiin hojjetaman kanneen akkanaa maali?
When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles?
3 Namichi kun sooftuu mukaa mitii? Inni ilma Maariyaam, obboleessa Yaaqoob, kan Yoosaa, kan Yihuudaa fi kan Simoon mitii? Obboleettonni isaa as nu bira jiru mitii?” Isaanis isatti gufatan.
Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took offense at Him.
4 Yesuus immoo, “Raajiin magaalaa itti dhalatetii, firoota isaa keessattii fi mana isaatti malee kabaja hin dhabu” jedheen.
Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”
5 Innis dhukkubsattoota muraasa irra harka isaa kaaʼee fayyisuu malee hojii dinqisiisaa tokko illee achitti hojjechuu hin dandeenye.
So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them.
6 Innis amantii dhabuu isaaniitiif dinqifate. Yesuusis namoota barsiisaa ganda tokko irraa gara ganda biraatti naannaʼaa ture.
And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He went around from village to village, teaching the people.
7 Warra Kudha Lamaan ofitti waamee lama lamaan isaan erguu jalqabe; hafuurota xuraaʼoo irrattis taayitaa kenneef.
Then Jesus called the Twelve to Him and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits.
8 Akkana jedhees isaan ajaje: “Adeemsa keessaniif ulee malee waan tokko illee jechuunis buddeenaa fi korojoo hin qabatinaa; sabbata keessanitti immoo maallaqa hin guduunfatinaa.
He instructed them to take nothing but a staff for the journey—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts—
9 Kophee kaaʼadhaa; garuu kittaa lama hin uffatinaa.
and to wear sandals, but not a second tunic.
10 Yeroo mana tokko seentan kam iyyuu, hamma magaalaa sanaa baatanitti manuma sana turaa.
And He told them, “When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that area.
11 Yoo iddoon kam iyyuu isin simachuu baate yookaan isin dhagaʼuu baate, iddoo sanaa baʼaatii akka ragaa isaanitti taʼuuf awwaara miilla keessanii dhadhaʼadhaa.”
If anyone will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that place, as a testimony against them.”
12 Isaanis achii baʼanii akka namoonni qalbii jijjiirrataniif lallaban.
So they set out and preached that the people should repent.
13 Hafuurota hamoo baayʼee baasan; dhukkubsattoota baayʼees zayitii dibanii fayyisan.
They also drove out many demons and healed many of the sick, anointing them with oil.
14 Heroodis mootichi waaʼee waan kanaa dhagaʼe; maqaan Yesuus sirriitti beekamee tureetii. Namoonni tokko tokko, “Yohannis cuuphaan warra duʼan keessaa kaafameera; sababiin hojiin dinqii isaan hojjetamuufis kanuma” jedhan.
Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known, and people were saying, “John the Baptist has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
15 Warri kaan, “Inni Eeliyaas” jedhan. Kaan immoo, “Inni raajota durii keessaa akka isa tokkoo ti” jedhan.
Others were saying, “He is Elijah,” and still others, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.”
16 Heroodis garuu yommuu waan kana dhagaʼetti, “Yohannis isa ani mataa isaa irraa kutetu warra duʼan keessaa kaafame!” jedhe.
But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has risen from the dead!”
17 Heroodis mataan isaa akka Yohannis qabamee, hidhamee mana hidhaatti galfamu ajajee tureetii. Innis sababii niitii obboleessa ofii isaa Fiiliphoos, sababii Heroodiyaas ishee ofii fuudhee ture sanaatiif jedhee waan kana godhe.
For Herod himself had ordered that John be arrested and bound and imprisoned, on account of his brother Philip’s wife Herodias, whom Herod had married.
18 Yohannisis Heroodisiin, “Ati niitii obboleessa keetii fuudhuun kee seera miti” jedhaanii tureetii.
For John had been telling Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife!”
19 Kanaafuu Heroodiyaas Yohannisitti haaloo qabattee isa ajjeesuu barbaadde. Garuu isheen hin dandeenye;
So Herodias held a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she had been unable,
20 Heroodis akka Yohannis nama qajeelaa fi nama qulqulluu taʼe beekee, isa sodaatee, eegumsa isaaf gochaa tureetii. Heroodis yommuu waan Yohannis dubbatu dhagaʼetti akka malee rifate; taʼus gammachuudhaan isa dhaggeeffachuu barbaade.
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man. When he heard John’s words, he was greatly perplexed; yet he listened to him gladly.
21 Dhuma irrattis yeroon mijaaʼaan argame. Heroodis guyyaa dhaloota isaatti qondaaltota gurguddootaaf, ajajjoota loltootaatii fi namoota Galiilaa keessatti beekamaniif irbaata qopheesse.
On Herod’s birthday, her opportunity arose. Herod held a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.
22 Intalli Heroodiyaas yommuu ol seentee sirbitetti Heroodisii fi keessummoota isaa warra irbaata affeeraman gammachiifte. Mootichis intalattiidhaan, “Waanuma barbaadde na kadhadhu; ani siif nan kenna!” jedhe.
When the daughter of Herodias came and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests, and the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.”
23 Innis, “Hamma walakkaa mootummaa kootti illee waan ati na kadhattu kam iyyuu siif nan kenna!” jedhee kakuudhaan waadaa galeef.
And he swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give you, up to half my kingdom!”
24 Isheenis gad baatee haadha isheetiin, “Maal kadhadhu?” jette. Haati immoo, “Mataa Yohannis Cuuphaa” jettee deebifteef.
Then she went out and asked her mother, “What should I request?” And her mother answered, “The head of John the Baptist.”
25 Intalattiinis yommusuma ariitiidhaan gara mootichaatti ol seentee, “Akka ati ammuma mataa Yohannis Cuuphaa gabatee irra keessee naa kennitu nan barbaada” jetteen.
At once the girl hurried back to the king with her request: “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter immediately.”
26 Mootichis akka malee gadde; garuu sababii kakuu isaatii fi sababii warra isa wajjin maaddiitti dhiʼaataniitiif jedhee ishee diduu hin barbaanne.
The king was consumed with sorrow, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.
27 Innis yommusuma loltuu tokko akka inni mataa Yohannis fiduuf ajajee erge. Loltuun sunis dhaqee mana hidhaa keessatti mataa Yohannis isa irraa kute;
So without delay, the king commanded that John’s head be brought in. He sent an executioner, who went and beheaded him in the prison.
28 mataa isaas gabatee irra kaaʼee fidee intalattiitti kenne. Isheenis haadha isheetti kennite.
The man brought John’s head on a platter and presented it to the girl, who gave it to her mother.
29 Barattoonni Yohannisis waan kana dhageenyaan dhufanii reeffa isaa fuudhanii awwaala keessa kaaʼan.
When John’s disciples heard about this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.
30 Ergamoonnis Yesuus biratti walitti qabamanii waan hojjetanii turanii fi waan barsiisanii turan hunda isatti himan.
Meanwhile, the apostles gathered around Jesus and brought Him news of all they had done and taught.
31 Innis, “Kophaa keessan gara iddoo namni hin jirre tokkoo kottaatii takka boqodhaa” jedheen; isaan sababii namoonni baayʼeen dhufaa, deemaas turaniif carraa itti waa nyaatan illee hin qaban tureetii.
And He said to them, “Come with Me privately to a solitary place, and let us rest for a while.” For many people were coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.
32 Isaanis kophaa isaanii bidiruudhaan iddoo namni hin jirre tokko dhaqan.
So they went away in a boat by themselves to a solitary place.
33 Namoonni deemuu isaanii argan baayʼeen garuu isaan beekan; magaalaawwan hunda keessaa baʼanii miillaan fiiganii isaan dursanii iddoo sana gaʼan.
But many people saw them leaving and recognized them. They ran together on foot from all the towns and arrived before them.
34 Yesuus yommuu bidiruu irraa buʼetti tuuta guddaa tokko arge; innis sababii isaan akkuma hoolota tiksee hin qabnee turaniif garaa laafeef. Kanaafuu inni waan baayʼee isaan barsiisuu jalqabe.
When Jesus stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.
35 Yeroo kanatti galgalaaʼee ture; kanaafuu barattoonni isaa gara isaa dhufanii akkana jedhaniin; “Iddoon kun gammoojjii dha; aduunis dhiiteerti.
By now the hour was already late. So the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late.
36 Akka isaan gara baadiyyaatii fi gandoota naannoo kana jiranii dhaqanii waan nyaatan bitataniif namoota kanneen gad dhiisi.”
Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
37 Inni garuu, “Isinuu waan isaan nyaatan kennaafii” jedhee deebise. Isaanis, “Dhaqnee buddeena diinaarii dhibba lamaa binnee akka nyaataniif isaaniif kenninuu ree?” jedhaniin.
But Jesus told them, “You give them something to eat.” They asked Him, “Should we go out and spend two hundred denarii to give all of them bread to eat?”
38 Innis, “Buddeena meeqa qabdu? Mee dhaqaa ilaalaa!” jedheen. Isaanis yommuu arganitti, “Buddeena shanii fi qurxummii lama” jedhan.
“Go and see how many loaves you have,” He told them. And after checking, they said, “Five—and two fish.”
39 Yesuusis akka isaan namoota hundumaa garee gareedhaan marga lalisaa irra teteessisan isaan ajaje.
Then Jesus directed them to have the people sit in groups on the green grass.
40 Kanaafuu namoonni dhibba dhibbaa fi shantama shantamaan garee gareedhaan tataaʼan.
So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties.
41 Innis buddeena shananii fi qurxummii lamaan sana fuudhee, gara samii ol ilaalee galata galchee buddeena sana caccabse. Akka isaan namootaaf dhiʼeessaniifis barattoota isaatti kenne. Qurxummii lamaanis hunduma isaaniitiif qoqqoode.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to His disciples to set before the people. And He divided the two fish among them all.
42 Isaan hundi nyaatanii quufan;
They all ate and were satisfied,
43 barattoonnis hurraaʼaa buddeenaatii fi qurxummii gundoo kudha lama guutuu walitti qaban.
and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.
44 Warri nyaatanis dhiira kuma shan turan.
And there were five thousand men who had eaten the loaves.
45 Yesuus yommusuma akka barattoonni isaa bidiruu yaabbatanii hamma inni tuuta sana of irraa geggeessutti isa dura gara Beetisayidaatti darbaniif isaan dirqisiise.
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd.
46 Innis erga namoota of irraa geggeessee booddee kadhachuuf gaaratti ol baʼe.
After bidding them farewell, He went up on the mountain to pray.
47 Yommuu galgalaaʼettis bidiruun sun galaana walakkaa ture; Yesuus immoo kophaa isaa lafa irra ture.
When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and Jesus was alone on land.
48 Innis utuu barattoonni sababii bubbeen fuula isaanii duraan itti dhufeef bishaan mooquudhaan dhiphatanuu arge. Innis halkan keessaa kutaa afuraffaatti galaana irra deemaa gara isaanii dhufe. Innis waan isaan bira darbu fakkaate;
He could see that the disciples were straining to row, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea. He intended to pass by them,
49 isaan garuu yommuu galaana irra deemuu isaa arganitti ekeraa seʼanii iyyan;
but when they saw Him walking on the sea, they cried out, thinking He was a ghost—
50 isaan hundi isa arganii akka malee naʼaniitii. Inni immoo, “Jabaadhaa! Anumaatii hin sodaatinaa” jedhee yommusuma isaanitti dubbate.
for they all saw Him and were terrified. But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
51 Innis isaan wajjin bidiruu yaabbate; bubbeen sunis gab jedhe. Isaanis akka malee dinqisiifatan;
Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. And the disciples were utterly astounded,
52 isaan waaʼee buddeennan sanaa hin hubanneetii; mata jabeeyyiis turan.
for they had not understood about the loaves, but their hearts had been hardened.
53 Isaanis yommuu gama ceʼanitti Geensereexitti bidiruu irraa buʼan; bidiruu sanas achitti hidhan.
When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and moored the boat.
54 Akkuma isaan bidiruu irraa buʼaniinis namoonni Yesuusin beekan.
As soon as they got out of the boat, the people recognized Jesus
55 Namoonni sunis biyya sana guutuu keessa asii fi achi fiiganii iddoo Yesuus achi jira jechuu dhagaʼan hundumatti dhukkubsattoota sireedhaan baatanii fiduu jalqaban.
and ran through that whole region, carrying the sick on mats to wherever they heard He was.
56 Iddoo inni dhaqe kam illee jechuunis gandoota, magaalaawwan yookaan baadiyyaa hundatti warra dhukkubsatan fidanii lafa gabaa kaaʼan. Isaanis akka dhukkubsattoonni sun handaara wayyaa isaa illee tuqaniif isa kadhatan; warri handaaruma wayyaa isaa tuqan hundinuus ni fayyan.
And wherever He went—villages and towns and countrysides—they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
