1 “Kunoo ani ergamaa koo isa fuula koo duraan karaa naaf qopheessu nan erga. Ergasii Gooftaan isin eeggattan akkuma tasaa gara mana qulqullummaa isaa ni dhufa; ergamaan kakuu kan isin hawwitan sun ni dhufa” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall clear out the way before me: and suddenly will come to his temple the Lord, whom ye seek; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye desire for, behold, he is coming, saith the Lord of hosts.
2 Garuu eenyutu guyyaa dhufaatii isaa sana obsuu dandaʼa? Yeroo inni mulʼatuttis eenyutu isa dura dhaabachuu dandaʼa? Inni akka ibidda nama sibiila baqsee qulqulleessuu yookaan akka saamunaa nama wayyaa miicuu ti.
But who can sustain the day of his coming? and who can stand when he appeareth? for he is like the fire of the melter, and like the lye of the washers:
3 Inni akkuma nama meetii baqsee qulqulleessuu ni taʼa; Lewwotas calalee akka warqeettii fi meetiitti qulqulleessa. Ergasiis Waaqayyo namoota qajeelummaadhaan aarsaa isaaf fidan ni qabaata;
And he will sit as a melter and purifier of silver; and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness
4 akkuma bara darbee, akkuma waggoota duraa aarsaan Yihuudaatii fi Yerusaalem Waaqayyoon ni gammachiisa.
And then shall be pleasant unto the Lord the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
5 “Kanaafuu ani murtiif gara keessan nan dhufa. Ani falfaltootatti, sagaagaltootatti, warra sobaan kakatanitti, warra mindaa hojjettootaa dhowwatanitti, warra haadhota hiyyeessaa fi ijoollee abbaa hin qabne hacuucanitti, warra alagoota murtii qajeelaa dhowwatanii fi na hin sodaannetti dhugaa baʼuuf nan ariifadha” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
And I will come near unto you to [hold] judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against those that swear falsely, and against those that withhold the wages of the hired laborer, [oppress] the widow, and the fatherless, and that do injustice to the stranger, and fear me not, saith the Lord of hosts.
6 “Ani Waaqayyo hin geeddaramu. Kanaafuu yaa ilmaan Yaaqoob isin hin barbadoofne.
For I the Lord, —I have not changed: and ye sons of Jacob—ye have not ceased to be.
7 Isin bara abbootii keessaniitii jalqabdanii sirna koo irraa jalʼattaniirtu; hin eegnes. Gara kootti deebiʼaa; anis gara keessanitti nan deebiʼaa” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu. “Isin garuu, ‘Nu akkamiin deebina?’ jettanii gaafattu.
From the days of your fathers did ye depart from my statutes, and did not keep them; return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts; but ye say, Wherein shall we return?
8 “Namni Waaqa ni saamaa?” Taʼus isin na saamtan. “Isin garuu, ‘Nu akkamiin si saamne?’ jettanii gaafattu. “Kudhan keessaa tokkoo fi aarsaadhaan.
Can a man rob God, that ye will rob me? But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and in heave-offerings.
9 Isin guutummaan saba keessanii sababii na saamtaniif abaarsa jala jirtu.
With the curse are ye cursed, and yet me do ye rob, O ye entire nation!
10 Akka mana koo keessa nyaanni jiraatuuf, kudhan keessa tokko guutummaatti gombisaatti galchaa. Kanaan na qoraatii akka ani karra burqaa samii banee hamma isin iddoo itti kuufattan dhabdanitti eebba guddaa isiniif hin roobsine ilaalaa” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be provision in my house, and prove me but herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing, until it be more than enough.
11 “Ani akka daanaʼoon midhaan keessan hin balleessineef nan ifadha; mukni wayinii lafa qotiisa keessaniis ija hin harcaafatu” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
And I will rebuke for you the devourer, and he shall not destroy for you the fruit of the ground: and the vine shall not cast its fruit for you before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 “Ergasii isin biyya gammaddu waan taataniif, saboonni hundinuu eebbifamtoota isiniin jedhu” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
And all the nations shall call you blessed; for ye shall be a land of delight, saith the Lord of hosts.
13 “Isin of tuulummaadhaan natti dubbattan” jedha Waaqayyo. “Taʼus, ‘Nu maal siin jenne?’ jettanii gaafattu.
Your words have been strong against me, saith the Lord; but ye say, What have we spoken among us against thee?
14 “Isin akkana dubbattan; ‘Waaqa tajaajiluun faayidaa hin qabu. Nu fedhii isaa duukaa buunee akkuma nama booʼuu, fuula Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu dura jooruudhaan maal arganne?
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked contritely before the Lord of hosts?
15 Amma garuu of tuultotaan eebbifamtoota jenna. Dhugumaan warri hamaa hojjetan ni eebbifamu; warri Waaqa qoranis ni miliqu.’”
And now we call the presumptuous happy: yea, built up are those that practise wickedness; yea, they have even tempted God and are [yet] suffered to escape.
16 Warri Waaqayyoon sodaatan walitti dubbatan; Waaqayyos isaan dhaggeeffate; ni dhagaʼes. Warra Waaqayyoon sodaatanii fi maqaa isaa kabajaniifis kitaabni maramaan yaadannoodhaaf fuula isaa duratti barreeffame.
Then conversed they that fear the Lord one with the other: and the Lord listened and heard it, and there was written a book of remembrance before him for those who fear the Lord, and for those who respect his name.
17 Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha; “Guyyaa ani hojjedhutti isaan handhuuraa koo addaa ni taʼu. Akkuma namni tokko ilma isaa kan isa tajaajilu baraaru sana ani isa nan baraara.
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, on that day which I create as a special treasure: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his son that serveth him.
18 Isin ammas garaa garummaa nama qajeelaatii fi nama hamaa, garaa garummaa warra Waaqa tajaajilaniitii fi warra hin tajaajillee ni argitu.
And ye shall return, and see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that hath not served him.
