< Luqaas 9 >
1 Yesuus warra Kudha Lamaan walitti waamee, akka isaan hafuurota hamoo hunda baasanii fi akka dhibeewwan fayyisaniif humnaa fi taayitaa kenneef;
Then Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and power to cure diseases.
2 inni akka isaan mootummaa Waaqaa labsanii fi akka dhukkubsattoota fayyisaniif isaan erge.
And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 Akkanas isaaniin jedhe; “Adeemsa keessaniif waan tokko illee jechuunis ulee yookaan korojoo yookaan buddeena yookaan maallaqa akkanumas kittaa lama hin qabatinaa.
“Take nothing for the journey,” He told them, “no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no second tunic.
4 Mana seentan kam iyyuu keessa hamma magaalaa sanaa baatanitti achuma turaa.
Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that area.
5 Yoo namoonni isin simachuu baatan, magaalaa isaaniitii baʼaatii akka ragaa isaanitti taʼuuf awwaara miilla keessanii dhadhaʼadhaa.”
If anyone does not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that town, as a testimony against them.”
6 Isaanis achii baʼanii iddoo hundatti wangeela lallabaa, namootas fayyisaa ganda tokko irraa gara ganda kaanii deemaa turan.
So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
7 Heroodis bulchaan waaʼee waan taʼaa ture hundaa dhagaʼe. Innis waan namoonni tokko tokko Yohannis cuuphaan warra duʼan keessaa kaafameera jechaa turaniif,
When Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, he was perplexed. For some were saying that John had risen from the dead,
8 warri kaanis Eeliyaas mulʼateera jechaa waan turaniif, warri kaan immoo raajota durii keessaa inni tokko duʼaa kaʼeera jechaa waan turaniif akka malee burjaajaʼe.
others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that a prophet of old had arisen.
9 Heroodis garuu, “Ani Yohannisin mataa isaa kuteen ture. Yoos namichi ani waaʼee isaa waan akkanaa dhagaʼu kun eenyu ree?” jedhe. Yesuusin arguufis ni hawwa ture.
“I beheaded John,” Herod said, “but who is this man I hear such things about?” And he kept trying to see Jesus.
10 Ergamoonnis yommuu deebiʼanitti waan hojjetanii turan Yesuusitti himan. Innis ofitti isaan fudhate; isaanis ofumaan gara magaalaa Beetisayidaa jedhamtuu dhaqan;
Then the apostles returned and reported to Jesus all that they had done. Taking them away privately, He withdrew to a town called Bethsaida.
11 namoonni baayʼeen garuu waan kana beekanii isa duukaa buʼan. Innis isaan simatee waaʼee mootummaa Waaqaa isaanitti hime; warra fayyuun isaan barbaachises ni fayyise.
But the crowds found out and followed Him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and He healed those who needed healing.
12 Gara galgalaatti warri Kudha Lamaan gara isaa dhufanii, “Waan nu as gammoojjii keessa jirruuf, akka namoonni kunneen gara gandootaatii fi baadiyyaa naannoo kana jiranii dhaqanii waan nyaatanii fi iddoo bultii barbaadataniif isaan gad dhiisi” jedhaniin.
As the day neared its end, the Twelve came to Jesus and said, “Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside for lodging and provisions. For we are in a desolate place here.”
13 Inni immoo, “Isinuu waan isaan nyaatan kennaafii” jedhee deebise. Isaanis, “Nama kana hundaaf nyaata yoo dhaqnee binne malee nu buddeena shanii fi qurxummii lama qofa qabna” jedhanii deebisan.
But Jesus told them, “You give them something to eat.” “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered, “unless we go and buy food for all these people.”
14 Dhiira gara kuma shantu achi ture. Inni garuu barattoota isaatiin, “Garee tokkoon tokkoon isaa gara nama shantama shantamaa qabuun isaan teessisaa” jedhe.
(There were about five thousand men.) He told His disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”
15 Barattoonnis akkasuma godhan; namni hundis ni taaʼe.
They did so, and everyone was seated.
16 Innis buddeena shananii fi qurxummii lamaan fuudhee, gara samii ol ilaalee galata galchee caccabse. Ergasii akka isaan namootaaf dhiʼeessaniif barattootatti kenne.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples to set before the people.
17 Isaan hundi nyaatanii quufan; barattoonnis hurraaʼaa hambifame gundoo kudha lama guutuu walitti qaban.
They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
18 Gaaf tokko Yesuus kophaa isaa kadhannaa irra ture; barattoonni isaas isa wajjin turan. Innis, “Namoonni anaan eenyu jedhu?” jedhee isaan gaafate.
One day as Jesus was praying in private and the disciples were with Him, He questioned them: “Who do the crowds say I am?”
19 Isaanis, “Namoonni tokko tokko inni Yohannis Cuuphaa dha jedhu; warri kaan inni Eeliyaas jedhu; kaan immoo raajota durii keessaa isa tokkotu duʼaa kaʼe jedhu” jedhanii deebisan.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that a prophet of old has arisen.”
20 Innis, “Isin hoo? Eenyu anaan jettu?” jedhee gaafate. Phexrosis, “Ati Kiristoos Waaqaa ti” jedhee deebise.
“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
21 Yesuusis akka isaan waan kana nama tokkotti illee hin himneef jabeessee isaan akeekkachiise.
Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone.
22 Innis, “Ilmi Namaa waan hedduun dhiphachuu, maanguddootaan, luboota hangafootaa fi barsiistota seeraatiin tuffatamuu, ajjeefamuu fi guyyaa sadaffaatti immoo duʼaa kaʼuu qaba” jedhe.
“The Son of Man must suffer many things,” He said. “He must be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
23 Ergasii inni hunduma isaaniitiin akkana jedhe; “Namni kam iyyuu yoo na faana dhufuu barbaade, inni of haa ganu; fannoo isaa guyyuma guyyaan baadhatees na duukaa haa buʼu.
Then Jesus said to all of them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
24 Namni lubbuu isaa oolfachuu barbaadu kam iyyuu lubbuu isaa ni dhabaatii; garuu namni naaf jedhee lubbuu isaa dhabu kam iyyuu lubbuu isaa ni oolfata.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.
25 Namni yoo addunyaa guutuu argatee ofii isaa immoo dhabe yookaan yoo gatame inni buʼaa maalii argata?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit his very self?
26 Nama anattii fi dubbii kootti qaanaʼu kam iyyuu Ilmi Namaa yommuu ulfina isaatiin, ulfina Abbaatii fi ulfina ergamoota qulqulluutiin dhufutti isatti ni qaanaʼa.
If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
27 “Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; warra as dhadhaabachaa jiran keessaa namoonni tokko tokko utuu mootummaa Waaqaa hin argin duʼa hin dhandhaman.”
But I tell you truthfully, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”
28 Yesuus erga waan kana dubbatee gara guyyaa saddeetii booddee Phexros, Yohannisii fi Yaaqoobin fudhatee kadhannaadhaaf tulluu tokkotti ol baʼe.
About eight days after Jesus had said these things, He took with Him Peter, John, and James, and went up on a mountain to pray.
29 Utuu inni kadhachaa jiruus bifti fuula isaa geeddarame; uffanni isaas adii calaqqisu taʼe.
And as He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became radiantly white.
30 Kunoo namoonni lama jechuunis Musee fi Eeliyaas, ulfina guddaadhaan mulʼatanii Yesuus wajjin haasaʼaa turan.
Suddenly two men, Moses and Elijah, began talking with Jesus.
31 Isaanis ulfinaan mulʼatanii waaʼee addunyaa kana irraa deemuu isaa kan inni Yerusaalemitti raawwachuuf jiru sanaa dudubbachaa turan.
They appeared in glory and spoke about His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 Phexrosii fi warri isa wajjin turan garuu akka malee mugan; yeroo dammaqanitti immoo ulfina Yesuusii fi namoota Yesuus wajjin dhadhaabachaa turan lamaan argan.
Meanwhile Peter and his companions were overcome by sleep, but when they awoke, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with Him.
33 Phexrosis akkuma namoonni sun Yesuus biraa deemuu jalqabaniin, “Yaa Gooftaa, as jiraachuun nuuf gaarii dha. Daasii sadii jechuunis tokko siif, tokko Museef, tokko immoo Eeliyaasiif ni ijaarra” jedhe. Inni waan dubbatu hin beeku ture.
As Moses and Elijah were leaving, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters —one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)
34 Utuma inni dubbachaa jiruu duumessi tokko dhufee isaan haguuge; isaanis yommuu duumessa sana keessa seenanitti ni sodaatan.
While Peter was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
35 Sagaleen, “Kun Ilma koo isa ani filadhee dha; isinis isa dhagaʼaa” jedhu tokko duumessicha keessaa dhufe.
And a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to Him!”
36 Yommuu sagaleen sun dubbatetti, Yesuus kophaa isaa argame. Barattoonnis ni calʼisan malee waan argan keessaa tokko illee yeroo sanatti nama tokkottuu hin himne.
After the voice had spoken, only Jesus was present with them. The disciples kept this to themselves, and in those days they did not tell anyone what they had seen.
37 Guyyaa itti aanu, yommuu isaan tulluu irraa gad buʼanitti namoonni baayʼeen isatti dhufan.
The next day, when they came down from the mountain, Jesus was met by a large crowd.
38 Namoota sana keessaas namichi tokko iyyee akkana jedhe; “Yaa Barsiisaa akka ati ilma koo naa ilaaltu sin kadhadha; inni anaaf mucaa tokkichaatii.
Suddenly a man in the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg You to look at my son, for he is my only child.
39 Hafuurri wayii itti kaʼa; gurbichis akkuma tasaa iyya; hafuurri sun lafaan dhaʼee isa dhidhiitachiisa. Gurbichis hoomacha afaaniin baasa; hafuurichi dafee irraa hin galu; yeroo hundas isa miidha.
A spirit keeps seizing him, and he screams abruptly. It throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It keeps mauling him and rarely departs from him.
40 Ani akka hafuura sana baasaniif barattoota kee nan kadhadhe; isaan garuu hin dandeenye.”
I begged Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.”
41 Yesuusis deebisee, “Isin dhaloota hin amannee fi jalʼaa nana; ani hamma yoomiitti isin wajjin jiraadha? Hamma yoomiittis isinii obsa?” jedhe. Namichaanis, “Mee ilma kee as fidi” jedhe.
“O unbelieving and perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”
42 Utuma gurbaan sun gara Yesuus dhufaa jiruus, hafuurri hamaan sun lafaan dhaʼee isa dhidhiitachiise. Yesuus garuu hafuura xuraaʼaa sana ifate; gurbichas fayyisee abbaa isaatiif kenne.
Even while the boy was approaching, the demon slammed him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 Hundumti isaaniis humna Waaqaa isa jabaa sana ni dinqifatan. Utuu hundi isaanii waan Yesuus hojjete sana dinqisiifachaa jiranuu inni barattoota isaatiin akkana jedhe;
And they were all astonished at the greatness of God. While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus was doing, He said to His disciples,
44 “Waan ani isinitti himuuf jiru of eeggannaadhaan dhaggeeffadhaa: Ilmi Namaa dabarfamee harka namootaatti ni kennama.”
“Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”
45 Isaan garuu dubbii kana hin hubanne. Akka isaaniif hin galleefis isaan jalaa dhokfamee ture; isaan waaʼee waan kanaa isa gaafachuus ni sodaatan.
But they did not understand this statement. It was veiled from them so that they could not comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
46 Isaan keessaa namni nama hundumaa caalu eenyu akka taʼe barattoota gidduutti wal falmiin kaʼe.
Then an argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.
47 Yesuusis waan isaan garaatti yaadan beekee mucaa xinnaa tokko fidee of bira dhaabe;
But Jesus, knowing the thoughts of their hearts, had a little child stand beside Him.
48 akkanas isaaniin jedhe; “Namni mucaa xinnaa kana maqaa kootiin simatu kam iyyuu na simata; namni na simatus isa na erge sana simata; namni isin hundaa gad taʼe inni hunda caalaatii.”
And He said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me. For whoever is the least among all of you, he is the greatest.”
49 Yohannisis, “Yaa Barsiisaa, nu utuu namni tokko maqaa keetiin hafuurota hamoo baasuu arginee waan inni nu duukaa hin buuneef isa dhowwine” jedhe.
“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.”
50 Yesuus garuu, “Isa hin dhowwinaa; namni isiniin hin mormine kam iyyuu gara keessan jiraatii” jedhe.
“Do not stop him,” Jesus replied, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”
51 Yesuusis yommuu yeroon inni itti gara samiitti ol fudhatamu gaʼetti Yerusaalem dhaquuf hidhatee kaʼe.
As the day of His ascension approached, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.
52 Innis ergamoota of dura erge; isaanis waan isa barbaachisu qopheessuudhaaf ganda Samaariyaa tokko seenan.
He sent messengers on ahead, who went into a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.
53 Namoonni naannoo sanaa garuu sababii inni fuula isaa Yerusaalemitti deebifatee deemaa tureef isa hin simanne.
But the people there refused to welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.
54 Barattoonni isaa jechuunis Yaaqoobii fi Yohannis yommuu waan kana arganitti, “Yaa Gooftaa, akka inni isaan balleessuuf, akka nu samii irraa ibidda gad waamnu barbaaddaa?” jedhan.
When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?”
55 Yesuus garuu garagalee isaan ifate.
But Jesus turned and rebuked them.
56 Isaanis darbanii ganda biraa dhaqan.
And He and His disciples went on to another village.
57 Utuu isaan karaa deemaa jiranuus namichi tokko Yesuusiin, “Ani iddoo ati dhaqxu hundatti si duukaa nan buʼa” jedhe.
As they were walking along the road, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow You wherever You go.”
58 Yesuusis deebisee, “Waangoonni boolla qabu; simbirroonnis manʼee qabu; Ilmi Namaa garuu iddoo itti mataa isaa irkifatu illee hin qabu” jedhe.
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
59 Nama biraatiinis, “Na duukaa buʼi!” jedhe. Namichi garuu, “Yaa Gooftaa, dura akka ani dhaqee abbaa koo awwaalladhu naa eeyyami” jedhee deebise.
Then He said to another man, “Follow Me.” The man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
60 Yesuusis, “Warri duʼan duʼaa isaanii haa awwaallatan; ati garuu dhaqiitii mootummaa Waaqaa lallabi” jedheen.
But Jesus told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You, however, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61 Ammas namni biraa, “Yaa Gooftaa, anis si duukaa nan buʼa; garuu dura akka ani dhaqee maatii kootti nagaa dhaamadhu naa eeyyami” jedhe.
Still another said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to my family.”
62 Yesuusis deebisee, “Namni harkaan hordaa qabatee of duuba ilaalu kam iyyuu mootummaa Waaqaatiif hin malu” jedhe.
Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
