Luqaas 2
1 Bara sana keessa akka addunyaan Roomaa hundi galmeeffamuuf Awugisxoos Qeesaar biraa labsiin baʼe.
Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole empire should be enrolled.
2 Lakkoobsi sabaa kunis bara Qereenewoos bulchaa biyya Sooriyaa turetti yeroo jalqabaatiif taasifame.
This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 Namni hundinuu galmeeffamuuf gara magaalaa itti dhalatee dhaqe.
All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.
4 Yoosefis manaa fi sanyii Daawit keessaa waan dhalateef magaalaa Naazreeti ishee Galiilaa keessaatii kaʼee gara magaalaa Daawit ishee Yihuudaa keessaa kan Beetlihem jedhamtuutti ol baʼe.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;
5 Innis kaadhima isaa Maariyaam ishee ulfa turte sana wajjin galmeeffamuu dhaqe.
to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him, being pregnant.
6 Utuma isaan achi jiranuus yeroon daʼumsa ishee gaʼe.
It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth.
7 Isheenis ilma ishee isa hangafa deesse. Waan mana bultii keessummootaa keessa iddoon hin jiraatiniif huccuudhaan martee bidiruu keessa isa ciibsite.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him with pieces of cloth, and placed him in a feeding trough, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 Tiksoota halkan halkan ala bulanii bushaayee isaanii tikfatanitu biyya sana ture.
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 Ergamaan Gooftaa isaanitti mulʼate; ulfinni Gooftaas naannoo isaaniitti ibse; isaanis akka malee sodaatan.
And look, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 Ergamaan sun garuu akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Hin sodaatinaa. Kunoo, ani oduu gaarii baayʼee nama gammachiisu kan saba hundumaaf taʼu isinii fideeraatii.
The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
11 Harʼa magaalaa Daawit keessatti fayyisaan isiniif dhalateera; innis Kiristoos Goofticha.
For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord.
12 Kunis mallattoo isiniif taʼa: Daaʼima huccuudhaan maramee bidiruu keessa ciisu tokko ni argitu.”
This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough."
13 Ergamaa sana wajjinis raayyaan samii irraa baayʼeen akkuma tasaa mulʼatanii Waaqa galateeffachaa akkana jedhan;
Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
14 “Samii gubbaatti ulfinni Waaqaaf, lafa irrattis nagaan namoota inni itti gammaduuf haa taʼu.”
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward humankind."
15 Erga Ergamoonni tiksoota dhiisanii gara samiitti ol baʼanii booddee tiksoonni sun, “Kottaa Beetlihemin dhaqnee waan taʼe kan Gooftaan nutti hime kana ilaalaa” waliin jedhan.
And it happened that when the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said one to another, "Let us go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us."
16 Isaanis dafanii dhaqanii Maariyaamii fi Yoosefin, daaʼima bidiruu keessa ciisus argan.
They came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.
17 Yommuu isa arganitti waan waaʼee mucichaa isaanitti himame sana odeessan;
When they saw it, they made known the saying which was spoken to them about this child.
18 warri waan kana dhagaʼan hundinuu waan tiksoonni isaanitti himan sana ni dinqifatan.
All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.
19 Maariyaam garuu waan kana hunda garaatti qabattee itti yaadaa turte.
But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Tiksoonnis sababii waan dhagaʼanii fi arganiitiif Waaqaaf ulfina kennaa, isa jajachaas deebiʼan; wanni hundinuu akkuma isaanitti himame sana tureetii.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Innis guyyaa saddeettaffaatti, akkuma yeroon dhagna qabaa isaa gaʼeen maqaa utuu haati isaa iyyuu isa hin ulfaaʼiniin dura ergamaan Waaqaa isaaf baaseen Yesuus jedhamee moggaafame.
When eight days were fulfilled to circumcise him, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
22 Akka Seera Museetti yeroon qulqullaaʼummaa isaanii geenyaan Yoosefii fi Maariyaam daaʼima sana Gooftaa duratti dhiʼeessuuf jedhanii isa fudhatanii Yerusaalemitti ol baʼan.
When the days of their purification according to the Law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord
23 Akkuma Seera Gooftaa keessatti barreeffametti, “Dhiirri hangafni hundinuu gooftaaf ni qulqulleeffama.”
(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord"),
24 Isaanis akkuma Seerri Gooftaa jedhutti, “Gugee lama yookaan gugee sosookkee lama” aarsaa dhiʼeessuu dhaqan.
and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the Law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."
25 Kunoo, namichi qajeelaan Waaqa sodaatu kan maqaan isaa Simiʼoon jedhamu tokko Yerusaalem keessa ture. Innis jajjabeeffama Israaʼel eeggachaa ture; Hafuurri Qulqulluunis isa irra ture.
And look, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
26 Hafuurri Qulqulluunis akka inni utuu Kiristoos Goofticha hin argin hin duune isatti mulʼisee ture.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27 Innis Hafuuraan qajeelfamee mana qulqullummaa seene. Abbaa fi haati Yesuus yommuu akka duudhaa seerichaatti waan barbaachisu isaaf guutuuf jedhanii Yesuus mucicha baadhatanii ol seenanitti,
He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the requirement of the Law,
28 Simiʼoon fuudhee isa hammatee akkana jedhee Waaqa galateeffate:
then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 “Yaa Gooftaa, akkuma dubbii keetiitti, ati garbicha kee amma nagaan geggeessis.
"Now you are releasing your servant, Lord, according to your word, in peace;
30 Iji koo fayyina kee isa ati
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 saba hundumaa duratti qopheessite argeera;
which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
32 innis mulʼata Namoota Ormaatiif ifa; saba kee Israaʼeliif immoo ulfina.”
a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel."
33 Abbaa fi haati isaas waan waaʼee isaa dubbatame sana ni dinqifatan.
And his father and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him,
34 Simiʼoonis isaan eebbise; haadha daaʼima sanaa Maariyaamiinis akkana jedhe; “Daaʼimni kun Israaʼel keessatti kufaatiidhaa fi kaʼumsa namoota baayʼeetiif sababii, mormii isa irratti dubbatamuufis mallattoo akka taʼu murteeffameera;
and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, "Look, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.
35 kunis akka yaadni garaa namoota baayʼee ifatti baʼuuf. Goraadeen lubbuu kee ni waraana.”
Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
36 Gosa Aasheer keessaas raajittii Haannaa jedhamtu tokkotu ture. Isheenis intala Faanuʼel turte; baayʼees jaartee turte; dhirsa ishee kan durbummaadhaan itti heerumte wajjin waggaa torba jiraatte;
There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 isheenis hamma umuriin ishee waggaa 84 guuteetti haadha hiyyeessaa taatee jiraatte. Utuu mana qulqullummaatii hin dhabaminis soomaa fi kadhannaadhaan halkanii guyyaa waaqeffachaa turte.
and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who did not depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Yeruma sanas isaanitti dhiʼaattee Waaqaaf galata galchite; warra furama Yerusaalem eeggachaa turan hundattis waaʼee daaʼima sanaa odeessite.
Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
39 Yoosefii fi Maariyaamis waan seerri Gooftaa ajaju hunda raawwatanii gara Galiilaatti gara magaalaa isaanii Naazreetitti deebiʼan.
When they had accomplished all things that were according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
40 Mucichis guddatee jabaachaa deeme; ogummaadhaanis ni guutame; ayyaanni Waaqaas isa irra ture.
The child was growing, and was becoming strong, being filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.
41 Abbaa fi haati isaa wagguma waggaan Ayyaana Faasiikaatiif jedhanii Yerusaalem dhaqaa turan.
His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
42 Yommuu umuriin mucaa sanaa waggaa kudha lama guutettis akkuma sirna Ayyaanichaatti Yerusaalemitti ol baʼan.
When he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the feast,
43 Erga ayyaanichi raawwatee booddee utuu abbaa fi haati isaa gara mana isaaniitti deebiʼaa jiranuu, Yesuus mucichi Yerusaalemitti isaan biraa hafe; isaan garuu waan kana hin hubanne.
and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it,
44 Isaanis waan inni miiltoo isaanii wajjin jiru seʼanii guyyaa tokko deeman. Ergasiis firoota isaaniitii fi michoota isaanii keessa isa barbaaduu jalqaban.
but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Yommuu isa dhabanittis, isa barbaaduuf Yerusaalemitti deebiʼan.
When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.
46 Guyyaa sadii booddee utuu inni barsiistota gidduu taaʼee isaan dhaggeeffatuu, gaaffiis isaan gaafatuu mana qulqullummaa keessatti isa argatan.
It happened after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 Warri isa dhagaʼan hundinuus hubannaa isaatii fi deebii inni kennu ni dinqifatan.
All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48 Abbaa fi haati isaas yommuu isa arganitti ni raajeffatan. Haati isaas, “Gurbaa, maaliif akkana nu goote? Kunoo, anii fi abbaan kee yaaddoo guddaadhaan si barbaadaa turree!” jetteen.
When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us this way? Look, your father and I were anxiously looking for you."
49 Innis deebisee, “Maaliif na barbaaddan? Akka ani mana Abbaa kootti argamuu qabu hin beekne moo?” isaaniin jedhe.
He said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be doing the works of my Father?"
50 Isaan garuu dubbii inni isaanitti dubbate hin hubanne.
They did not understand the saying which he spoke to them.
51 Innis isaan wajjin Naazreetitti gad buʼe; isaaniifis ni ajajama ture. Haati isaa garuu waan kana hunda garaatti qabatte.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Yesuusis ogummaadhaan, hojjaa fi surraadhaan fuula Waaqaatii fi fuula namaa duratti guddachaa deeme.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people.
