Luqaas 12
1 Gidduu sana yommuu tuunni namoota kuma hedduu tokko hamma isaan wal irra ejjetanitti walitti qabametti, Yesuus duraan dursee barattoota isaatiin akkana jechuu jalqabe; “Raacitii Fariisotaa irraa of eeggadhaa; kunis fakkeessitummaa dha.
In the mean time, when there was gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, so that they trampled one upon another, he began to say to his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 Wanni haguugamee utuu hin mulʼifamin hafu yookaan wanni dhokfamee utuu hin beekamin hafu tokko iyyuu hin jiru.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
3 Wanni isin dukkana keessatti dubbattan, ifa guyyaatiin dhagaʼama; wanni isin gola keessatti gurratti hasaastanis bantii manaa irraa labsama.
Therefore whatever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
4 “Yaa michoota ko, ani isinittin hima; warra dhagna ajjeesanii ergasii immoo kana caalaa homaa gochuu hin dandeenye hin sodaatinaa.
And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5 Ani garuu kan isin sodaachuu qabdan isinittin argisiisa; isa erga ajjeesee booddee gahaannamitti darbachuudhaaf taayitaa qabu sana sodaadhaa; eeyyee, ani isinittin hima; isa sodaadhaa. (Geenna g1067)
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say to you, Fear him. (Geenna g1067)
6 Daaloteen shan saantima lamatti gurguramu mitii? Isaan keessaa garuu tokko iyyuu Waaqni hin irraanfatu.
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7 Dhugumaanuu rifeensi mataa keessanii hundi lakkaaʼameera. Hin sodaatinaa; isin daalotee hedduu caalaa gatii qabduutii.
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
8 “Ani isinittin hima; nama fuula namootaa duratti ifaan ifatti dhugaa naa baʼu kamiif iyyuu, Ilmi Namaas fuula ergamoota Waaqaa duratti dhugaa ni baʼa.
Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9 Namni fuula namootaa duratti na ganu kam iyyuu garuu fuula ergamoota Waaqaa duratti ni ganama.
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
10 Nama Ilma Namaatiin mormee jecha tokko dubbatu hundaaf ni dhiifama; nama Hafuura Qulqulluudhaan mormee dubbatu kamiif iyyuu garuu hin dhiifamu.
And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.
11 “Yommuu manneen sagadaa, bulchitootaa fi abbootii taayitaa duratti dhiʼeeffamtanitti akkamitti akka falmattan yookaan maal akka jettan hin yaaddaʼinaa.
And when they bring you to the synagogues, and before magistrates, and powers, be not anxious how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12 Hafuurri Qulqulluun yeruma sana Waan isin jechuu qabdan isin barsiisaatii.”
For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
13 Tuuta sana keessaa namichi tokko, “Yaa Barsiisaa, akka obboleessi koo dhaala naa hiruuf maaloo itti naa dubbadhu” jedheen.
And one of the company said to him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14 Yesuus garuu deebisee, “Namana, eenyutu isin gidduutti abbaa murtii yookaan hirtuu dhaalaa na godhe?” jedheen.
And he said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
15 Innis, “Ilaalladhaa! Doqnummaa hunda irraas of eegaa; jireenyi nama tokkoo baayʼina qabeenya isaatiin hin murteeffamuutii” jedheen.
And he said to them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 Innis akkana jedhee fakkeenya kana isaanitti hime; “Lafti qotiisaa namicha sooressa tokkoo midhaan guddaa kenneef.
And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 Namichi sunis, ‘Ani waan lafan itti midhaan koo galfadhu hin qabneef maal gochuu naa wayya?’ jedhee garaa isaatti yaade.
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no place where to store my fruits?
18 “Innis akkana jedhe; ‘Wanni ani godhu kana; gombisaa koo diigee guddaa isaa nan ijaarradha; midhaan koo fi miʼa koo hunda achittin kuufadha.
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I store all my fruits and my goods.
19 Lubbuu kootiinis, “Yaa lubbuu ko, ati waan gaarii hedduu kan waggaa baayʼeef kuufame qabda; boqodhu; nyaadhu; dhugi; gammadis” nan jedha.’
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thy ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 “Waaqni garuu, ‘Yaa gowwicha, edanuma lubbuu kee sirraa fudhachuu barbaadu; egaa wanni ati walitti qabatte sun kan eenyuu taʼa?’ jedheen.
But God said to him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 “Kanaafuu namni ofii isaatiif badhaadhummaa kuufatee fuula Waaqaa duratti immoo hin sooromin kam iyyuu akkasuma taʼa.”
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22 Yesuusis barattoota isaatiin akkana jedhe; “Kanaafuu ani isinittin hima; ‘maal nyaanna?’ jettanii waaʼee jireenya keessanii hin yaaddaʼinaa; yookaan ‘maal uffanna?’ jettanii waaʼee dhagna keessanii hin yaaddaʼinaa.
And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 Jireenyi nyaata caala; dhagnis uffata caalaatii.
The life is more than food, and the body is more than raiment.
24 Mee arraageyyii ilaalaa: Isaan hin facaafatan yookaan hin haammatan; gombisaa yookaan gumbii hin qaban; taʼus Waaqni isaan soora. Isin immoo hammam simbirroota caalaa gatii guddaa qabdu!
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25 Isin keessaa namni yaaddaʼuudhaan hojjaa isaa irratti dhundhuma tokko dabalachuu dandaʼu eenyu?
And which of you by being anxious can add to his stature one cubit?
26 Yoos isin erga waan xinnoo akkasii illee godhachuu hin dandeenye, maaliif waan biraaf yaaddoftu ree?
If ye then are not able to do that thing which is least, why are ye anxious for the rest?
27 “Daraaraawwan bosonaa akkamitti akka guddatan mee ilaalaa; isaan hin dhamaʼan yookaan hin foʼan. Ani garuu isinittin hima; Solomoon iyyuu ulfina isaa hunda keessatti, akka tokkoo isaaniitti hin uffanne.
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say to you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 Isin yaa warra amantii xinnoo nana! Waaqni erga marga dirree kan harʼa jiruu fi kan bor immoo ibiddatti naqamutti iyyuu akkasitti uffisee, isinitti immoo hammam kana caalaa haa uffisuu ree.
If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 Qalbii keessan waan nyaattan irra yookaan waan dhugdan irra hin kaaʼatinaa; waaʼee isaas hin yaaddaʼinaa.
And seek ye not what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 Addunyaan ormootaa waan kana hunda ni barbaaduutii; Abbaan keessan akka wanni kun hundinuu isin barbaachisu ni beeka.
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 Garuu mootummaa isaa barbaadaa; wanni kun akkasuma isiniif kennama.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you.
32 “Isin karra xinnoo nana, hin sodaatinaa; Abbaan keessan mootummaa isinii kennuu jaallateeraatii.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Waan qabdan gurguraatii hiyyeeyyiif kennaa. Korojoo hin moofofne, qabeenya dhuma hin qabnes samii irratti, iddoo hattuun itti hin dhiʼaannee fi biliinis hin balleessinetti ofii keessaniif kuufadhaa.
Sell what ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which become not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 Idduma badhaadhummaan keessan jiru sana garaan keessanis jiraatii.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 “Tajaajilaaf hidhadhaatii qophaaʼaa; ibsaa keessanis ibsadhaa;
Let your loins be girt, and your lamps burning;
36 akkuma namoota yommuu Gooftaan isaanii cidha fuudhaa fi heerumaatii galee balbala dhadhaʼutti dafanii isaaf banuuf jedhanii qophaaʼanii isa eeganii taʼaa.
And ye yourselves like men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately.
37 Garboonni gooftaan isaanii yeroo galutti isaanii dammaqanii jiran argu sun eebbifamoo dha; ani dhuguman isinitti hima; inni marxifatee akka isaan nyaataaf taaʼan ni godha; dhufees isaan tajaajila.
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say to you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 Garboonni gooftaan isaanii halkanicha keessaa kutaa lammaffaatti yookaan kutaa sadaffaatti dhufee akkasuma isaanii dammaqanii jiran isaan argu sun eebbifamoo dha.
And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
39 Garuu waan kana hubadhaa: Abbichi manaa utuu saʼaatii kamitti akka hattuun dhuftu beekee, silaa akka manni isaa cabsamee seenamu itti hin dhiisu ture.
And this know, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have allowed his house to be broken into.
40 Isinis akkasuma qophaaʼuu qabdu; Ilmi Namaa saʼaatii isin hin eegnetti dhufaatii.”
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
41 Phexrosis, “Yaa Gooftaa, ati fakkeenya kana nu qofatti moo nama hundumatti himta?” jedhee gaafate.
Then Peter said to him, Lord, speakest thou this parable to us, or even to all?
42 Gooftaanis akkana jedhee deebise; “Egaa hojii adeemsisaan amanamaa fi ogeessi kan gooftaan isaa akka inni nyaata isaanii yeroo malutti isaanii kennuuf jedhee garboota isaa irratti isa muudu eenyu?
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
43 Garbichi gooftaan isaa yommuu deebiʼutti utuu inni akkasuma hojjetuu isa argu sun eebbifamaa dha.
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44 Ani dhuguma isinitti nan hima; inni qabeenya isaa hunda irratti isa muuda.
Truly I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
45 Garbichi sun garuu yoo, ‘Gooftaan koo dhufuuf yeroo dheeraa tura’ ofiin jedhee, garboota dhiiraatii fi dubartootaa tumuu jalqabe, yoo nyaatee dhugee machaaʼe,
But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunk;
46 gooftaan garbicha sanaa guyyaa inni isa hin eegnee fi saʼaatii inni hin beeknetti ni dhufa. Innis isa kukkuta; warra hin amanne keessattis isa ramada.
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47 “Garbichi utuu fedhii gooftaa isaa beekuu hin qophoofne yookaan waan gooftaan isaa barbaadu hin hojjenne sun akka malee tumama.
And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 Nama utuu hin beekin waan isa adabamsiisu hojjete garuu adaba salphaatu isa irra gaʼa. Nama wanni baayʼeen itti kenname hunda irraa waan baayʼeetu eegama; nama imaanaan guddaan itti kenname irraa immoo kan caalutu barbaadama.
But he that knew not, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom men have committed much, from him they will ask the more.
49 “Ani ibidda lafa irra buusuufin dhufe; utuu inni ammuma iyyuu qabatee ani akkam hawwa!
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it is already kindled?
50 Garuu cuuphaa ani cuuphamu tokkotu jira; hamma inni raawwatamutti ani akka malee nan dhiphadha!
But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I constrained till it shall be accomplished!
51 Isin waan ani lafa irratti nagaa buusuuf dhufe seetuu? Akkas miti; ani isinittin hima; ani gargar baʼuu fiduufan dhufe malee nagaa buusuuf hin dhufne.
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 Siʼachi maatiin nama shan qabu tokko gargar qoodama; namni sadii nama lamatti kaʼa; namni lama immoo nama sadiitti kaʼa.
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 Abbaan ilmatti, ilmi abbaatti, haati intalatti, intalli haadhatti, amaatiin niitii ilmaatti, niitiin ilmaas amaatii isheetti kaʼuudhaan gargar baʼu.”
The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
54 Yesuusis tuuta sanaan akkana jedhe; “Isin yommuu duumessa karaa lixa biiftuutiin ol baʼu argitanitti yeruma sana, ‘Bokkaan ni rooba’ jettu; innis ni rooba.
And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, immediately ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
55 Yommuu bubbeen kibbaa bubbisutti immoo, ‘Ni hoʼa’ jettu; innis ni hoʼa.
And when ye see the south wind blowing, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
56 Fakkeessitoota nana! Isin bifa lafaatii fi samiitiif hiikkaa kennuu ni beektu. Bara ammaa kanaaf immoo hiikkaa kennuu akkamitti wallaaltu?
Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
57 “Isin maaliif ofuma keessanii waan qajeelaa hin murteessine?
Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58 Ati yommuu amajaajii kee wajjin gara abbaa murtii dhaqxutti, karuma irratti isaan walitti araaramuu cimsii yaali; yoo kanaa achii amajaajiin kee abbaa seeraatti si geessa; abbaan seeraas dabarsee poolisiitti si kenna; poolisiin immoo mana hidhaatti si darbata.
When thou goest with thy adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he drag thee before the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
59 Ani sitti nan hima; ati hamma saantima ishee dhumaa of irraa baaftutti achii hin baatu.”
I tell thee, thou shalt not depart from there, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
