Abbootii Murtii 10
1 Erga Abiimelek duʼee booddee namichi gosa Yisaakor, Toolaan ilmi Phuwaa ilmi Doodoo Israaʼel baraaruuf kaʼe. Innis biyya gaaraa Efreem keessa Shaamiir jiraate.
After the time of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose up to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.
2 Tolaan waggaa digdamii sadii Israaʼelin bulche; ergasiis duʼee Shaamiiritti awwaalame.
Tola judged Israel twenty-three years, and when he died, he was buried in Shamir.
3 Isatti aanee Yaaʼiir namichi gosa Giliʼaad kaʼee waggaa kudha lama Israaʼelin bulche;
Tola was followed by Jair the Gileadite, who judged Israel twenty-two years.
4 innis ilmaan soddoma kanneen harroota soddoma yaabbatan qaba ture. Isaanis magaalaawwan hamma harʼaatti gandoota Yaaʼiir jedhaman soddoma Giliʼaad keessaa qabu turan.
He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys. And they had thirty towns in the land of Gilead, which to this day are called Havvoth-jair.
5 Yaaʼiiris duʼee Qaamonitti awwaalame.
When Jair died, he was buried in Kamon.
6 Ammas Israaʼeloonni fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan hamaa hojjetan. Baʼaalii fi Ashtooreti akkasumas waaqota Sooriyaa, Siidoonaa, Moʼaab, Amoonii fi kan Filisxeem waaqeffatan. Waan Israaʼeloonni Waaqayyoon dhiisanii isa waaqeffachuu didaniif,
And again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. They served the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and Philistines. Thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.
7 inni isaanitti dheekkame. Dabarsees harka Filisxeemotaatii fi Amoonotaatti isaan gurgure;
So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and Ammonites,
8 isaanis bara sana ijoollee Israaʼel gad cabsanii cunqursan. Israaʼeloota biyya Amoorotaa kan Giliʼaad keessa karaa baʼaatiin laga Yordaanos bira jiraatan hundumaa waggaa kudha saddeet akka malee cunqursan.
who that very year harassed and oppressed the Israelites, and did so for eighteen years to all the Israelites on the other side of the Jordan in Gilead, the land of the Amorites.
9 Amoononnis gosa Yihuudaa, gosa Beniyaamii fi mana Efreem waraanuudhaaf laga Yordaanos ceʼan. Israaʼeloonnis akka malee raafaman.
The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, and Israel was in deep distress.
10 Kanaafuu Israaʼeloonni, “Nu si Waaqa keenya dhiifnee Baʼaal waaqeffachuudhaan yakka sitti hojjenneerra” jedhanii Waaqayyotti iyyatan.
Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against You, for we have indeed forsaken our God and served the Baals.”
11 Waaqayyos akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Yeroo warri Gibxi, Amooronni, Amoononni, Filisxeemonni,
The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines,
12 Siidoononni, Amaaleqoonnii fi Maaʼoononni isin cunqursinaan isin natti iyyattanitti ani harka isaanii jalaa isin hin baafnee?
Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites oppressed you and you cried out to Me, did I not save you from their hands?
13 Isin garuu na dhiiftanii waaqota biraa waaqeffattan; kanaafuu ani siʼachi isin hin baasu.
But you have forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.
14 Deemaatii waaqota filattan sanatti iyyadhaa. Yommuu isin rakkattan isaanumti isin haa oolchan!”
Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble.”
15 Israaʼeloonnis Waaqayyoon, “Nu cubbuu hojjenneera. Ati waan feete nu godhi; amma garuu maaloo nu baasi” jedhan.
“We have sinned,” the Israelites said to the LORD. “Deal with us as You see fit; but please deliver us today!”
16 Isaanis waaqota ormaa gidduu isaaniitii balleessanii Waaqayyoon waaqeffatan. Innis ergasii dhiphina Israaʼel calʼisee ilaaluu hin dandeenye.
So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
17 Yeroo Amoononni Giliʼaaditti wal gaʼanitti Israaʼeloonnis wal gaʼanii Miisphaa qubatan.
Then the Ammonites were called to arms and camped in Gilead, and the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.
18 Hooggantoonni namoota Giliʼaadis, “Namni jalqabatti Amoonotatti waraana banu inni jiraattota Giliʼaad hundaaf hoogganaa taʼa” waliin jedhan.
And the rulers of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever will launch the attack against the Ammonites will be the head of all who live in Gilead.”
